  1. He still looked horrendus though, so that's definitely a plus.
  2. Wow. You'd think if you jumped out to a nice 8-0 lead in the 2nd inning you might be able to AT LEAST hold it for that INNING?!? Horrible, just horrible. If this keeps up it could surpass the Twins/White Sox 20-14 game a few weeks ago.
  3. Did they do that dance tonight? The one where they jump up and down while throwing their arms in the air? I was wondering if some of the guys were still doing it or not. I haven't seen the dance for a while now. If they've done it lately I haven't seen it shown, although I thought it was pretty entertaining.
  4. 4-0 Royals. They're shelling Igawa so far.
  5. Bases loaded again. C'mon Lowell!
  6. These Cleveland announcers are tolerable when they're a 2 man crew, but last night they had 3 guys and sucked. They kept trying to crack jokes and it was pretty annoying. ...And we strand runners on 2nd and 3rd.
  7. It appears he's been sharing with Gabbard so far.
  8. Great win tonight. It was huge not only winning the first 2 games of the series, but beating their ace in the process. Now we've got ours going tomorrow.
  9. That's really sad to hear. RIP. I'm surprised that a fan hasn't had something like this happen to them yet. With all the hard line drives drilled down the 1st and 3rd baselines into foul territory, you'd think something would happen every now and then, especially when some people aren't even paying attention to the game.
  10. I just looked it up and Sabathia is a FA after 08. With his contract most likely similar to Zito's, it makes you wonder if Cleveland will let him walk.
  11. Sabathia's not a free agent this year though. I'm not sure when his contract is up, but I'd definitely rather have him than Zambrano. I, too think Zambrano stays with the Cubs. They're going to have to shell out the cash to keep him, but he's the ace of that staff and he will probably stay in Chicago.
  12. If we went out and got a 2nd rate closer or just someone who could get us by, I think the majority of the fan base would be up in arms and wanting Papelbon back in the pen when Closer X started blowing saves, especially against a team like the Yankees. Also, say we move Papelbon to the rotation and get somebody like Dempster or Jones. Do you REALLY feel 100% confident that he will convert that series clinching save in October when we have a 2-1 lead in the bottom of the 9th? Like everyone else, I feel that confidence with Papelbon and there just aren't many guys out there who are an exclamation point at the end of a game like he is. Moving him to the rotation would be very intriguing, but since he loves doing what he does and it's working great I wouldn't change a thing.
  13. I agree 100%. You don't find many elite closers. We've got one, and I don't want to see us do anything to mess it up.
  14. In a way, Wily Mo kind of reminds me of Pedro Cerrano from "Major League". He can crush fastballs 500 feet, but has some terrible swings at breaking balls and no plate discipline.
  15. I really hate the Saturday games that aren't on NESN. We're scheduled to get the freaking Mets/Dodgers. Uggh. Go Sox!
  16. Getting Teixiera would be great. But if we do, I sure hope we don't lose him to free agency. Correct me if I'm wrong, but he's a free agent after 08 right? If we aquire him hopefully we will committ to him being a guy to build around for the future and sign him to a long term deal. He will command a lot, but is worth the cash.
  17. I would definitely not be in favor of aquiring a rent-a-player like Andruw Jones. Although he would supply some power, he's only batting .211 and strikes out way too much. I'm not really a big fan of the whole rent-a-player thing in the first place, but if we did do that I would go after Torii Hunter because I don't see any way Minnesota brings him back next year. Maybe we could get back in trade talks with Colorado involving Helton/Lowell. Who knows. But you're right, we need to do SOMETHING. It's just hard to figure out what that something is.
  18. Toronto gets out of another jam and still leads 2-1 after 8.
