  1. That UCLA win over USC last year is looking more and more like a fluke.
  2. Sabathia was one bad pitch away from letting the Yankees blow the game open (if I recall correctly, he loaded the bases with one out and got two huge outs in the fifth). Carmona did a much better job at shutting down the Yankees than Sabathia did, and if CC starts Game 5, I think that Wedge is pretty much conceding the series. Sabathia on three days' rest sounds like a better idea.
  3. Notre Dame gets their first win of the year against UCLA. How they were ranked is beyond me.
  4. Good luck indeed. He's 1-4 in his career against the Yankees (0-2 at Yankee Stadium) with an ERA around 4.50.
  5. If only the Braves were still in Boston and the Dodgers had never left....we'd have BOS/NY LCS in both leagues to boost ratings.
  6. A COL/ARI NLCS. Who'd have thunk it?
  7. Who has the better chance of extending their season tonight? Philly or the Cubs?
  8. This is idiotic, just like that Sooners fan who tried to pull a Sonny Chiba-in-Street-Fighter on the Longhorns fan last month. If you're willing to severely hurt or kill someone over a sports team, you need serious help.
  9. Ryan Theriot just tied it with a two-out RBI single in the 6th.
  10. Congrats on the CGSO by Beckett, his second consecutive CG in the postseason. Make that five straight CGs against LA of Anaheim in the postseason. We don't see too many of these anymore.
  11. Going back to Game 2 of the 2005 ALCS, that makes five consecutive dominant playoff pitching performances against the Halos. Pure domination.
  12. I noticed that, but in a way it kinda deviates from the original purpose of the thread. In any case, first pitch for the ARI/CHI series is in a little under 2 hours. Webb vs Zambrano. If Big Z is on top of his game, tonight should be a pitcher's duel.
  13. Wait a minute...wasn't this an NLDS thread?
  14. Sox's postseason winning streak against California/Anaheim/Los Angeles of Anaheim stands at 6 games and counting...
  15. Doesn't every year present a scenario to show how f***ed up the BCS is?
  16. The Rockies were riding an 11-game winning streak and now that it's ended, their tragic number is one.
  17. The Miracle Braves were 15 out on the Fourth of July (26-40) and finished the season 68-19 to win the pennant by 10½ games. That's one hell of a comeback.
  18. Maybe Brian Brohm is having second thoughts about staying in school? Where did Michael Bush end up anyway?
  19. It's not so much Colletti as it is Little for not having a backbone to stand up to the veterans.
  20. 1978 Red Sox: lost a 14-game lead with two months to go. 1964 Phillies: lost a 6-game lead with 12 games to go. 2007 Mets: lost a 7-game lead with 17 to go. SIDE NOTE: The DBacks with a win can make the NL West a two-team race. But then again, momentum is on the Rockies' side.
  21. So which is a bigger upset? Syracuse over Louisville or App State over Michigan?
