    Really? I thought Smoltz was just an insurance plan. We got him for a decent 1 year deal, hoping that if he can regain form, he could help this team late in the season/post season. We didn't give him a giant contract and expect him to be a front of the rotation guy, like the Yankees used to love to do. We aren't relying on Smoltz, he's a luxury. If he can get it together, great. Our rotation would be scary good. If not, it's not really a problem. Put Buchholz in the spot and wait for Matsuzaka to get healthy.

    How about the 8 starts Dice-K made with that 8.23 ERA and 2.2 WHIP? How about the first four starts Penny made, where he gave up 21 runs in just 17 2/3 innings? How about Lester's slow start, giving up 5+ runs in 6 of his first 10 starts? Or those back-to-back starts Beckett made in April, giving up 7 and 8 earned runs? We could play this game all day, it is pointless. You can't throw out "outlier" stats from one team and compare them to another team's full stats. It just doesn't work that way. Also, if we Sox-Yankees split the rest of the series, how does that give the Yankees a 5 game lead?... You just flat out made that up.

    Take another look at the "future" map. It looks like it will clear up for a bit around 6:30ish, but then another storm system will come in soon after (8:00ish). I hope that doesn't mean playing 2 innings and then having a 3 hour rain delay/PPD.

    Lol. Forfeit the DH, have Beckett hit. Papi at 1st, Green back at SS, play Pedroia and Drew. That honestly might be a better lineup than with Lugo, Bard, whatever suck.

    I'm not worried about Smoltz, I just don't like the results right now. I don't like dropping games to bad teams. 1 out of 4 at home while the Yankees are right behind us isn't very fun.

    They are still one of the worst offenses. 29th in Avg and OBP, last in SLG, 24th in runs, etc. Bad. Believe it or not, they hit BETTER at home. Home: .242 BA .320 OBP .381 SLG .701 OPS Away: .238 BA .307 OBP .350 SLG .658 OPS

    How many rehab starts did he get... I'm not sure what's worse, Smoltz getting rocked or our offense getting 1 hit by Brett f***ing Anderson.
