  1. I like the lineup. I wouldn't mind seeing an easy, blowout win.
  2. He bet on his OWN team, what the hell is the problem? If anything, it gave him MORE drive to win games, because his money was on the line. Yes, he broke a rule, but banning him and keeping him out of the Hall?
  3. I can see a reason for this thread. I've been keeping up with Lugo's performances, although the same can't be said for Cora. I just kind of forgot about him. I don't really see the sarcasm for Cora, though. I don't know anyone who loathed Cora. He was a cheap utility middle IF who did his job and had some great moments.
  4. I was at work, which was actually kind of a good thing, considering the Sox lost. If I had to watch Smoltz get lit up again, I likely wouldn't have a working computer to be typing on.
  5. Lugo was 2-4 today with a double, more importantly, though, he had an error that cost the team 2 runs. Good old Lugo being Lugo.
  6. With Halladay, even if we couldn't sign him to an extension, he would make us overwhelming favorites to win back to back championships. I'm not sure Buchholz and Kelly could make such a drastic impact. Maybe they will, I don't know. The prospect of having Halladay is just tantalizing.
  7. By "fair market-price" contract, I mean a reasonable one that he would likely get on the FA market. I'd load it with incentives as a deal maker. He sure would get more money from NY than any other team, so the incentives would try to balance it out. I'm no contract expert, but I'm sure it's possible he would accept such a contract. It's basically a matter of getting traded and having a strong chance at a ring this year/next or taking a little more money from NY, but lose the opportunity to get a ring now.
  8. IMHO, once Wake gets back they should keep Buchholz and send Smoltz down until/if he figures it out. I think the Sox need to pursue another pitcher very aggressively. If Buccholz and Kelly are all it would take to get Halladay, do it. I'm sure they could get Halladay to sign a fair market-price contract loaded with incentives. If that can't happen, go get Haren, Cliff Lee, or some other top notch starter.
  9. If Halladay were willing to sign a new deal, why in the hell wouldn't the Sox make that trade? Do they really think that Buchholz + Kelly would make a bigger impact than Halladay? Really?

  11. What was that, scrub vs scrub? It's time for Smoltz to have a great outing. 6IP, 2ER. Do it.
  12. Then again, maybe not. He's been a pull hitter throughout his career, especially when it comes to HRs. He has only hit 7 opposite field HRs in his career, sub-.700 OPS (+1.3OPS to Right). So maybe the wall could turn a lot of his flyouts/doubles into hits and HRs. But then again, RF is a LOT deeper at Fenway than it was in Turner or PNC.
  13. Laroche could do some serious damage with the Monster.
  14. How about now? edited for wrong quote.
  15. Ellsbury! He's developing power. 500, here he comes...
  16. Lugo had 4 hits today, including another triple. I'm telling you, he's going to have a great 2nd half.
  17. With all due respect, why in hell do you think Toronto would want Bay? They are trying to build for the FUTURE. Signing Bay to a big contract would be a step backwards. They need young talent to develop right now.
  18. Just remember, IF he ever becomes a superstar, he will leave your team before he reaches his prime. No one wants to play for losers.
  19. You do realize that everyone in baseball is laughing at the Pirates for basically giving Laroche away for nothing (2 nothing prospects). They are calling the Pirates a "Clearance sale, everything must go!".
