    In baseball, if you are the team being blown out, you might stop stealing because you need a lot of runs to catch up, so taking the risk isn't worth it. If it's the other team, well, it might not be worth the injury concern. As for football, the reason teams run when they have a lead is simple: kill the clock and ball protection. It has nothing to do with sportsmanship or anything else. It's a strategic move, nothing more.

    If you're losing and you don't do EVERYTHING (and I mean everything) possible to get on base, you aren't 100% committed to winning. There's no if and or buts about it. If the pitcher doesn't like it, too bad. The batter's job is to get on base.

    I think it's a dumb "unwritten" rule. The fact is a no-hitter is often just as much about luck as anything else. Anyways, who cares, you have to earn it. A team should do anything and everything possible to give them the best chance at winning games and that may very well be trying to break up a no-hitter. If the pitcher doesn't like it, too bad. Statistical anomalies get blown out of proportion in baseball.

    So far so good from Dice-K, but I'm still far from being comfortable with him on the mount. I'm just waiting for the implosion...

    Sweet, facing another LHP. McDonald actually has a chance to have a good game. I'm still extremely nervous about Dice-K, I just can't picture him succeeding in the game.

    Wow, that's probably a blessing in disguise. Beckett needs the extra time to get his s*** together. On another note, 24 is AMAZING! This season's finale could be the best ever.

    Heck yeah, no runs, no hits, just 1 walk over 3 innings. Aside from a few bumps here and there, the pen looks like it's coming together nicely. Just need to stay away from Schoensuck...

    Sox Win! Another clean save for Paps. His FB sitting 95-96 and he seemed to have good command of his slider. I'm not worried about him right now.

    Darnell is a LHP specialist. Almost all the success he's had has been against LHP. .368 BA, .429 OBP, .895 SLG, 1.323 OPS all 3 HRs He crushes LHP but can't hit RHP to save his life. I don't understand why they don't platoon him.

    He just can't hit RHP, we really should have Reddick or someone else for RHP. Here are his splits this year (yeah, SSS, but it's all we have): RHP: .184 BA, .279 OBP, .237 SLG, .516 OPS (0 HR) LHP: .368 BA, .429 OBP, .895 SLG, 1.323 OPS (3 HR) All the damage he has done has been against LHP, I see absolutely no reason to have him face RHP. Theo said the reason he is up here is because he can hit lefties... so why is he facing righties too?

    McDonald has looked awful against RHP lately, I think it's time we use him only against LHP.
