  1. Vintage Dice-K. Some guys are known for strikeouts, some for pitching deep in games, some for being unhittable, and then there DiceK, known for being luckier than an Irishman finding a pot of gold.
  2. Could Dice-K actually do it again?
  3. This Ump needs glasses. Seriously, how do some of these guys have jobs? 90% of his job is accurately calling balls & strikes and he can't do it to save his life. What kind of standards to these UMPS have.
  4. And the 4th inning is the typical implosion time for Dicek.
  5. OH look, Spuds here! This game is a snooze fest right now.
  6. And I'm talking to myself... Where is everyone? The Sox get hot and start beating good teams and everyone disappears?
  7. I hate UMPS. According to gameday, 3 of those 4 "balls" were in the strike zone, with "ball" 4 being practically down the middle.
  8. You know, they could get rid of bad calls so easily by just putting in TV screens right next to 1B and 3B. An UMP unsure of the call can walk a few feet over, watch the replay, and get it right. Of course they would rather stand there arguing with the players and managers. That and they don't like the idea of modernism in baseball.
  9. What is up with HP UMPS being absolutely awful lately?
  10. Dice-K sucks... again. He's gonna get crushed if he can't find his damned command.
  11. WTF, why isn't Cameron playing? Our OF is still a disaster. We need real OF, enough sending out trash. It's so nice seeing Papi back in the 3 hole
  12. Rib injuries and diving do not go together. I was worried that he would be coming back too soon and re-aggravate his ribs while diving for a ball... what do you know, it pretty much happened. This really sucks. I think it's time to explore options to bring in a real OF to play LF.
  13. The problem is that the area of land behind Fenway would cost a fortune and that's if they'd even sell the land. I just hate the idea of a new Fenway. What they need to do is get rid of Yawkee way and build a better/larger grandstand. They could easily fit 5-10K more seats that way and make it look more modern without killing it.
  14. Career road OPS: .826 2010 Fenway OPS: .820 While he won't likely keep up a .950+ OPS on the road this season, there's no reason to believe he'll suck... at all.
  15. I don't get why some of you guys feel he had to PROVE anything? When a guy who is a career .289, .339, .826 hitter is having some HR outages (he had plenty of XBH) and is having defensive problems, despite winning back to back Gold Gloves just 2 years ago, for the first month playing for a new team, would you think it's a slump or a crappy player? That's the problem. If it was Youk, we just say he was in a slump, but bring in a new guy who some just don't like, he just sucks and is a bad move...
  16. I'm hoping that they only signed him 1 year because they plan on going after one of the premier 1B FA next offseason and slide Youk to 3B. I was a Beltre supporter before we even signed him. When he hit FA I was hoping the Sox would pick him up and I've been behind him ever since. Some people just don't like to use logic around here, but the guy has ALWAYS been a gold-glover at 3B and hit extremely well away from Safe-co. Now we are all seeing just how good Beltre is.
  17. This team better not have ANYTHING more in common with the Bruins. They have to finish this at home Friday. I don't want to see this team face the pressure of playing a game 7 with the first 3-0 collapse in their face.
  18. I don't think our offense will take much of a regression as the season goes on, unless a couple guys have career low funks. Considering career averages: 1. Ellsbury: .295, .347, .759 with speed 2. Pedroia: .304, .367, .824 (20 HRs real possibilty) 3. Ortiz is interesting. If his fall off in 08 and slow start in 09 was simply his wrist injury, a strong season might very well be likely. 30+ HRs, 100+ RBIs, and .900+ OPS should be a STARTING point. 4. Youkilis: .294, .395, .890 (25+ HR) 5. Vmart: .303, .365, .841 (20+ HR) (numbers w/ Boston) 6. Drew: .276, .386, .867 (20+ HR) (numbers w/ Boston) 7. Beltre: .289, .339, .826 (15+ HR, 20+ reachable) (road splits) 8. Cameron: .250, .340, .787 - Age might have caught up with him, I don't know what to expect now. 9. Scutaro: not sure what to expect, but somewhere between .338 and .370 OBP and .720 and .780 OPS. So as a lineup, if healthy, the only real question marks besides Ortiz are from our 8/9 hitters. If they perform as expected, we will great great production out of the bottom of the lineup. If not, it's still serviceable. Our 1-7 looks NASTY if they can all get going. Ellsbury and Pedroia are the perfect table setters, Ortiz and Youk are a great 3/4 punch who should both give .900+ OPS, and then Vmart, Drew, Beltre is a 5-7 that is easy .825+ OPS and 20+ HRs. I'm not worried.
  19. I hope all the Beltre haters enjoy eating crow, there's plenty to go around and will keep coming all season long.
  20. Logjam now has a higher OPS, 2 more HR, and 10 more RBIs than Mr. J Bay.
  21. I hate the bottom of our lineup.
  22. Ok, that's just f*cking stupid. Lackey throws 4 straight cutters in Crawford's first AB and gets burned on a low and outside cutter so he decided to start him off with another outside cutter to begin his second AB? WTF. Head... use it.
