Who ever called Lugo the next Nomah? The FO expected Lugo to come with a steady glove. They knew he would have his share of errors, but also knew he had great range, so it ballances out a bit. They also expected him to have some pop, enough for 10-15 HR and a BA around .270-.280, an OBP around .330-.360 and great speed.
Lugo is struggling at the plate, but honestly, he's the best choice they had. Alex Gonzalez isn't a good hitter. I don't care how good he is doing right now, thats simply not his norm. I agree the FO office should have held onto O'Cab or Renteria, but they didn't. Now I love Hanley, but Mike Lowell and Josh Beckett help this team more than he would have. Again, I hated seeing him go, but it's for the good, like the Nomah trade.
