  1. We aren't giving him a pass. But because the team is winning, it's giving Drew an opportunity to keep playing and try to break out of this slump without the fans getting all over him.
  2. Yes and no. Great pitchers are hard to come by. Beckett is turning into just that. Mike Lowell did have a high price tag, but he has turned out to be well worth his price, and as a FA, we could either sign him for less money or let him walk. I think a straight up trade of Hanley for Beckett would still be a good trade. Pitching is harder to obtain than offense. Again, it's really tough to see the kid go, but I think it was a good move. Only time will tell. And remember, when the kid gets older and becomes a FA, we could get him back if we are willing to pay.
  3. Drew is a tough case. His career numbers are good, its just that he is sooo prone to injuries and his motivation is constantly questioned. I just think that the signing was a bit to risky. High risk, medium reward.
  4. Who ever called Lugo the next Nomah? The FO expected Lugo to come with a steady glove. They knew he would have his share of errors, but also knew he had great range, so it ballances out a bit. They also expected him to have some pop, enough for 10-15 HR and a BA around .270-.280, an OBP around .330-.360 and great speed. Lugo is struggling at the plate, but honestly, he's the best choice they had. Alex Gonzalez isn't a good hitter. I don't care how good he is doing right now, thats simply not his norm. I agree the FO office should have held onto O'Cab or Renteria, but they didn't. Now I love Hanley, but Mike Lowell and Josh Beckett help this team more than he would have. Again, I hated seeing him go, but it's for the good, like the Nomah trade.
  5. You could look at it that way, but it isn't that simple. That changes the way the rest of the game would be pitched which could have meant a hit somewhere else. The only thing you can really look at is the only hit in the bottom of the 9th.
  6. We'll WMP has looked pretty decent/solid in CF recently. He's certainly no where near as good as Coco, but I think he's really improving both in the field and at the plate. Hopefully this is a sign of things to come or Wily Mo.
  7. We'll, today Coco made a HUGE play that could have been the game. It's a tough decision. Either you go with the great glove and speed of Coco or the deep threat of WMP. Today, I think it's Coco that would have made the difference. He made that important catch that could have meant the game at that point. You could very well argue that if WMP played today instead of Coco, we could have lost the game. Either way, its a tough decision and I don't mind who plays. In a perfect world Coco would be swing the bat well, but it's not a perfect world.
  8. To tell you the truth, who cares whether he got a perfect game or not. Yes it would have been nice, but all that really matters is that he shut 'em down in a 1-run game and was able to stop the streak. Thats all I care about, the W. Schilling pitched one hell of a game and did far more than you can ask of him. Great win.
  9. We'll I gotta go walk the dog. Nice win, see ya guys later.
  10. Damn. We'll Schilling to the complete game 1-hit shutout. I'll take that any day of the weak.
  11. Just 3 outs in a 1-run game. Come on Curt. Get 'er done. Lugo was the idiot.
  12. I got Schilling and Beckett in my fantasy teams fairly late; no one realized how good they actually are.
  13. I don't want to see Ortiz bunt again, it's not an automatic basehit, even with no one on that side of the infield. Swing away.
  14. Come on Youk, you aren't THAT fast.
  15. Oh, a Papi bunt single down the 3rd base line is priceless.
  16. Lugo has 3 groundouts and a strikeout.
  17. Where's the ignore... Please Jacksonian, please.
  18. I hate you Jacksonian. Please don't jinx this.
  19. VERY nice recovery Lowell. I was sure that would be another error. Keep it together infield, keep it together.
  20. I wonder to what extent this has to do with the pinky he broke and how much it is still effecting his swing.
  21. Ok, good point. It's time for Coco to drive in a run.
