Even if he doesn't have a great year he's will get at least Upton-Bourn money. If he hit's 30 HR Boras will be calling him the next Babe Ruth and will be asking for 200M If he has a good season I expect Seattle to go aggressively after him. They have money to spend.

I like Andrus but it would be the same situation as Ellsbury. One year left, highly unlikely to sign. Boras will start at Jose Reyes contract minimum. Again another deal the Sox are highly unlikely to want to commit too.

Things will pick up at the winter meetings. It's actually surprising to see one of the big names in Upton signed before them. When do they start anyways?

Ok, it's not an unreasonable way to look at it. I guess I look at it as more of Ellsbury is here for this season, and highly unlikely to re-sign in Boston(Boras will be asking for a Crawford deal, I have absolutely no doubts) and getting back a young SP that has mid to upper rotation potential for at least 2 seasons is about the best I think we could expect for one year of Ellsbury with his inconsistent history.

Damnit I just went back through all the stories on MLBTR and there is no official signing anywhere. This announcement is going to be Gomes.

Hamilton would certainly be considered a splashy move though. And from LL's comments it doesn't appear to be a splashy acquisition. We will see. I'm going to be pissed if it's just the stupid Gomes signing.

Really? For one year of Ellsbury? I don't see Porcello on next years free agent list, so they would be getting at least 2 years of control on Porcello.

Like I said in the other thread it means they have had talks. If it was BS he would say it. He's not backing himself into a corner with a firm answer. This could also lead to the COF acquisition ex1 had reffered to if it's for Myers or Gordon.

That means they have talked. If it was a BS report he would have called it that. He doesn't want to comment because it might happen or it might not happen. No reason to back yourself into a corner with a hard line answer. Still IMO it means they have had trade talks concerning him. ex1 said he mentioned something about a COF acquisition coming soon. Could be the Myers deal?

They plan him as DH at this moment from what I've read. They seem to be looking forward to a Miggy-Fielder-Vmart middle of the order.

Looks like the Pirates have gone to 3 years on their offer, in the 22M range. Martin likes the Pirates. I didn't think he's leave NY unless someone went hard after him. And it seems like the Pirates have a full court press on.

lol Ya he's not known as the ultimate hustle guy. I think playing for a franchise like Atlanta will help that. So I wouldn't totally close the book on him. He's a decent chance to break out with the change of scenary. In the end he's a good fit in Atlanta.
