  1. Texas just traded Young. I have a feeling they might go for both Hamilton and Grienke. That would also leave AZ without it's most interested trade partner for Upton.
  2. Is Lackey even ready to pitch at the beginning of the season?
  3. Most likely, eventually it be Hamilton in LF Bradley in CF and Victorino in RF. Then Hamilton rotating into the DH spot after Papi is gone.
  4. At this point a 2 year offer might get Jackson. And considering everything he's a decent innings eater. I wouldn't be against him. Lester Buchholz Jackson Doubront Lackey(eventually) That's not bad. But it's still shaky.
  5. They way it is they would have to hit on almost every pitcher there having a good year. That's not impossible but like Jacko said doesn't carry high probability. I don't think they go into ST not adding to that group in some way or another. We will just have to wait and see.
  6. I don't care f Henry sells the team or not. Just as long as Selig let's the team go to an owner who's going to spend money. And for how much some group is gonna have to pay for the Red Sox, they are going to want to spend money on the on field product. But Bell's views on the current short term deals seems more reasonable. Maybe ts a combo of both. Maybe it's a baseball wide thing and those 7 year deals are going to only go to guys who sign extensions with their current clubs(Tulo, Kemp, Longoria) and the occasional superstar that makes it to FA. They might stop handing those deals out every year just because player X happens to be the best available that season.
  7. Ellsbury wouldn't be traded without a replacement already in place.
  8. Ya as long as they don't sign another OF he won't be going anywhere for now. I still think a Salty for SP deal happens. Porcello be nice, but I don't know what Detroit is looking for. I'm hoping they get Jurrjens and stash him in AAA. The big name SP might just not be out there right now. They're probably more likely to add a mid to lower rotation guy for now and look later n the season to see who is now available.
  9. Didn't he say the expect better things from the current group last week or something
  10. I believe the insurance policy kicked in and covers like 75% of the deal is he misses a full season due to injury. Or something like that. Regardless I believe Arods contract will count against the LT until it expires. I'm not sure what would happen with a buyout if it came to it.
  11. If I was the Sox I'd offer 4/100M. What I don't like is what i read earlier today that Texas will get the chance to top any offer. I'd let them sign Grienke then make my best offer and say I need an answer ASAP or it's off the table.
  12. They would probably move Grandy and let Cano walk after the year. The Boras crusade for Cano being the next 200M player will be a entertaining storyline next off season.
  13. That and he would most likely take over at DH after Papi possibly.
  14. I think if they did get Hamilton that means both Granderson and Cano are gone after the season. Maybe even traded now. That be the only way they get Hamilton and follow through on their budget plan which I think they are trying to do. if the didn't care about the budget they would have signed Chavez(who would be extremely useful next year) and Martin.
  15. I mean the Yanks are always a threat. I just don't see how they do it with the payroll goals. Regardless is the Yankees are in it or not the Sox shouldn't got more the 3-4(5 is absolute max and I'm iffy there). This is the kind of guy you want, but not for a massive overpay. They have to show some restraint with him.
  16. There are plenty of cities with greater chances of relapse, actually Seattle is probably at the top of the list. And clearly you have never done the bar scene in Arlington? Arlington is an awesome bar town. Bourn is going to be waaaaay to expensive. He wants 100M on a long term deal. Crawford 2.0 no thanks.
  17. This is how I personally would set thing up if my before mentioned moves actually happened. vs RHP CF Victorino 2B Pedey LF Hamilton 1B Napoli DH Papi 3B Middlebrooks C Ross RF Kalish SS Iggy vs LHP RF Victorino 2B Pedey CF Hamilton 1B Napoli DH Ortiz 3B Middlebrooks LF Gomes C Lavs SS Iggy Rotation Lester Bailey/Garza(Ells trade) Buccholz Floyd Doubront Lackey/Jurrjens type/Morales/De La Rosa BP(some combo of the following) Bailey Bard Wilson(mid season) Uehara Miller Morales Tazawa Mortensen Pimtel
  18. Sign Hamilton Trade Ellsbury ++ for SP(I'm not sure who right now, I made a list yesterday of teams/SP, Maybe Ells to Cincy for Bailey. He put up good numbers in that bandbox) Trade Salty and Aceves for Floyd+ Sign Brian Wilson But out the egg nog and Captain Morgans, make some ass photo copies and call it an off season
  19. This guys since coming back to the Majors has had like two little hiccups with alcohol which he immediately called press conferences to confess. They guy seems to be trying to do the right thing. Yes there is risk. But at on 3-4 years and some possible language in the contract it's not as bad. He's earned some trust, albeit not enough for like 5+ year deals. I guess we just draw the line at different places when it comes to how much his addiction issues effect his value. Also something to consider, Mickey Mantle played for the Yankees will being a full blown alcoholic, played hungover like daily and I'm willing to bet played at least one game in his career drunk lol
  20. JE that's ridiculous lol
  21. I'm slightly worried Texas is trying to move Young to Philly so they can bring Hamilton back and sign Grienke.
  22. Red Sox sign BP arm, CWS looking for RP to replace Brett Myers role. Salty+Aceves for Floyd+ screams match on so many different levels. Grienke needs to hurry up and pick the Rangers(it's honestly a great fit for him) so we can figure out if the Sox are coming in 11th hour style on Hamilton or not.... I can see the Sox giving a 4th year vesting option or may be even a 4th year guaranteed to get it done. In the end whomever signs Hamilton, if it's for only 3-4 years it's a great deal.
