  1. Ellsbury flashed some power last night and in Philly. He has some HR potential. Give him some time to fill out and grow into his body. 500HR is hilarious. But in his prime I could see him being a 15-20HR threat.
  2. Sucks, but it's a likely scenario if no one is moved.
  3. I hope the DL him until the TDL. Give him a few weeks off with no throwing. By then they should have a feeling whether Dice-K will be able to be useful this season or not. If they think he is, they can move Penny. And if they have concerns they hold onto Penny, and we likely don't see Dice-K for the rest of the year. Or until rosters expand possibly.
  4. It they want value for him they will have to trade him. I don't think they risk offering him arb. So there goes any compensation as far as draft picks goes. If they could bring back something of value, not just a PTBNL, I say they should. It wasn't all that long ago we were discussing the the probability of him going a whole season with his arm issues. In all honesty the guys arm is a ticking time bomb. It may go next week, next month or next year, but eventually that sucker is gonna give.
  5. I also like the Wood pick. Good value at this point in the draft IMO.
  6. Given there is only 16 teams, everyone's line up should be decent at worst. Unless some have totally missed the boat on drafting, which I haven't witnessed besides maybe the Tulo #1 overall selection:lol:
  7. Ellsbury will never have a really high OBP. At least not until he loses a step or two. He's too dangerous to put on for free. Pitchers tend to come right at him. Thus making it hard to walk, and hard to keep a higher OBP%.
  8. He should keep him there for the time being. If there are any changes it will be Ellsbury back to lead off, with Pedroia going back to the #2 spot. I see no reason to put ortiz back in the 3 hole. Drew/Bay or Youkillis are better options at this point for that spot. I'd like to see, Ellsbury Pedroia Drew Bay Ortiz Youkillis Lowell Tek Green/Lugo
  9. 68 career regular season starts. So that's 612 possible innings. He has 403.1 career IP. So basically the BP is counted on for 1/3 of the game when Dice-K pitches.
  10. I agree he will never be the old Papi. But at least he's useful now. I think he has shown that he can contribute for the rest of the season.
  11. This is a good option. If Dice-K works out the kinks, and Smoltz shows he might be better suited for the BP they could flip flop. Or if Smoltz pitches well, they could leave Dice-K in the BP all season. Giving his arm a lot of rest while still getting something out of him. It could also lead to Penny being traded. I don't see too much of a downside to this idea.
  12. http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2009/writers/tom_verducci/06/16/bryce.harper/index.html?eref=T1 What a story. Kid is absolutely sick. Will be the #1 pick next year and will probably get 20M deal before he turns 18 LOL
  13. I say DL him. It seems to be the best option at the moment. I have said before I wouldn't mind a trade if it brought back the right player(s). But in the end I think Dice-K has a NTC so trading him might not be as easy as some think.
  14. Since I am 6 hours ahead, if my pick fall between those time restraints, can I make my picks? If not no worries, just curious.
  15. This crossed my mind, but in then end I need to start a BP somewhere. And he seemed like a good place to start.
  16. So I take it you like the pick? To be flat out honest, me and some baseball buddies where playing poker Saturday night and the Dodgers game was on. First time I had ever even heard of seen of the guy, but I liked what I saw:D
  17. I took Ramon Troncoso. He was another guy I read about and watched a little of. Like my non Bailey pick, I'm anxious to get some outside feed back. The guy has a sinker that averages 92MPH. He's a groundball pitcher. So I figured that can't bee too bad to have in the BP.
  18. Apologies, Ramon Troncoso, RP
  19. I can honestly say to you guys I have never even seen the homepage of that site. I don't feel the need to update everyone on what I am doing every 5 seconds. I do the facebook deal(proud talksox facebook member:D), but that's about as far as I go.
  20. I like where Bowden's head is at. I can understand Buchholz's frustration. But like evryone has said, he was handed the job basically and proceeded to suck for what ever reason. I like the fact he's hungry for it though. But I hope he is able to be mature enough and understand the overall picture of what the Sox are doing.
