  1. On to the next rumor
  2. Fair enough. Just curious.
  3. Is Phillips good enough to play SS?
  4. Dye will be playing for ATL or SF. Maybe NYY if Damon bolts and Figgins/Bay/Holliday are signed.
  5. The article goes on to list Arroyo, Harang, Phillips as players that could be dealt to to lower the teams payroll. It also mentions for the right deal, Votto could be made available. I know Phillips is pretty slick fielder @ 2B, anyone think he could make a transition to SS? Also if other talks fall through for a 1B, Votto wouldn't be a bad player to look in on.
  6. Detroit is desperate enough money wise that they are shopping Jackson. They might listen to offers on Miggy. They have 100M wrapped up in 10 players next season so far. With about 20M expected in arb raises. It all depends on how desperate the Tigers are. The Sox could take on a another big contract like Magglio as well. That would save Detroit a s*** load of money. I think it's almost 40M next season between the two of them.
  7. Did they? You'll have to forgive my spotty memory;)
  8. This is what I thought as well. Another 3 team deal I have seen in some conversations on other sites is, between Philly, Seattle and Boston(this is just discussions amongst people so don't flip out) Philly would send Happ/ Drabek + to Boston for Beckett. Then Boston sends those 2 plus Bowden, Anderson, Reddick(maybe 1 more lower level guy) to Seattle for Felix. You have to think Beckett could command as much as Halladay in a trade. And he's 3M cheaper this season. He might be the better bet over the next 3-4 years compared to Halladay(debatable I know), just sayin, it isn't crazy to think this may be possible. And how it could work out for all teams involved. Philly gets another front line SP. Boston gets their coveted Ace to replace Beckett. And Seattle gets an ass load of talent for Felix.
  9. Ok signing him to a 5 year deal to be a DH may not be the best move. But there is no guarantee when Ackley will be ready. I know he's good but would it really be out of the realm of possibilities he could be a couple season away? If Bay plays 2 years in LF, then finishes out the final 3 as DH it wouldn't be that bad of a signing. Just sayin. There have been much worse deals that made even worse sense.
  10. Why not when your OF will be filled with low power speed players? That lineup has got to get some power production from somewhere. The DH spot is a great place to start. And Bay would fit in nicely IMO.
  11. Or Griffey could retire, they sign Bay, leave Ackley in the minors next year, then the following season move Bay to DH and Ackley to LF.
  12. They just need to make a floating salary cap type deal. Something like a 70M bottom end and a 150M top end. And give the teams 3-5 seasons to make the proper adjustments and go from there. If you over you pay X5 the amount your over, and whatever your under, comes out of how much revenue your particular team would get or something. Not saying my suggestion doesn't need some work, just something to build around. Besides that, the whole money thing does seem absurd an I probably would feel more strongly about it if I was a Royals or Pirates fan. But I try not to get too hung up on it.
  13. Their 1st rounder is protected. Even a better reason to make a splash. They can spend $ while not having to worry about compromising the #1 pick next year.
  14. His Type A status is nice for the picks. But I'm afraid he signs with someone like the Nationals, who's 1st round pick is protected.
  15. People got all excited and emotionally attached when they thought Tex was a guarantee to go to Boston. Then he chose NY for his own personal reasons and people got all butt-hurt over it and can't let it go... To me Tex is a Yankee douche, and that is all. If people want to play the "what happened in the past" game, they should get mad at the Sox FO personnel that was in place when Tex was drafted by Boston and subsequently not signed.
  16. Goddell has balls, Selig does not. Goddell has the ability to look down the road and make adjustments for the better of the NFL. Selig is stuck in 1970's, and fears change! I think it be a good idea to bring another team to NY. TB could benefit from a move to the Brooklyn
  17. Your paying JD's salary?
  18. I never said they did have a reason. I just stated they didn't flat out say "no".
  19. Meh, not anything I wouldn't expect. He certainly doesn't close the door to the idea of trading Felix though. So we will see.
