  1. Are they bringing Miller in for the BP or is he still trying to be a SP?
  2. When you make statements like this, it's going to be hard for someone not to correct you.
  3. Shhhh! I would love it if Big Z ended up in NY
  4. Wow, Oakland really looks to be trying to load up.
  5. He probably makes what 3.5-4M in arb this year? I'd be ok with that on a one year deal. Depends on who is going the other way though.
  6. This is knee jerk madness. The Yankees are good enough to go into the season with what they have and look to improve later. They don't have to trade half their team for a SP. And Seattle's GM has said absolutely no, not happening, not even listening. I would guess some teams out there are happy to see the Yankees scrambling. Their typical fall back plan didn't work this year. And I doubt to many GM's are going to rush to their rescue anytime soon
  7. Bob Feller was a great American. He was also a very gifted ballplayer. Thank you for all your on and off the field accomplishments Bob. May you rest in peace.
  8. I would agree, but we both now it won't happen 100% of the time. Ortiz would have major issues being platooned all the time. I've said it before, sit Ortiz against top tier LHP. Leave him in vs the middle tier Lefty's and that should keep him happy. Cameron can grab some AB's from one of the LH OF's when facing middle tier LHP.
  9. If I was wearing my GM cap I would try the following: Fuentes- 2/10M Wheeler- 2/6M Oki- 1/1.5M MDC- Minor league deal, offer to ST, 500K base salary, up to 1M total with incentives. That would be a solid start. Cameron and or Scutaro could be moved at the deadline to free up $ if another BP piece is needed.
  10. Fair enough. You can have a bit more rope;) Guys to be fair he did say "new decade". So Zito, Arod, Soriano ad Carlos Lee don't count
  11. Wonder if they can get Pedro to come and pitch out of the BP?
  12. McGriff is right there for me as well. I have a lot of fond memories of the Crime Dog
  13. I generally don't get the ST juices flowing until after the Super Bowl. But it has started a little earlier this year. Trying to pace myself though, because I know this place slows down around the holidays
  14. I stopped at the title. I would argue Jayson Werth is a better candidate for "worst contract of the new decade". You managed to bring up a good topic of discussion, only to ruin it with you verbal diarrhea.
  15. I actually expect Oakland's rotation to take a step back in their first season without Curt Young. But they have enough to probably hang around in the division since at the moment their is no clear cut runaway favorite.
  16. 6M a year for a MR? Well from what I have read here and other places, it's estimated the Sox have like what 10M left to spend presumably? I think that means one of Fuentes/Guerrier. Then they could offer Oki a 1 year/Low base salary 1-3M? Then they could get a couple minor league deals with invite's to ST. I think they should try that with Delcarmen. That should be enough to get the started. They can add pieces later in the season if necessary. If the FA market falls out completely, then they will have to probably look for a trade. Scutaro's name has popped up a couple times this off season. He could be moved for a arm or 2. I wonder if SF would have interest for one of their BP arms?
  17. Why be negative towards him? Just because he's not an elite talent? He's a roster filler type move. No reason to piss in his Cheerios after the guy just found out he get's to have a shot at playing baseball another season.
  18. I think it' more likely they tade for one of the White Sox SP. Buehrle, Danks, or Floyd. All of whom have been rumored to possibly be available.
  19. Because it has a more positive tone.
  20. "Depth signing". They aren't bringing him into be the set up guy or something. edit: I failed to look ahead and see that Coco had beaten me to it
  21. Yankees finally get their man
  22. Jacko is fine. It's why we let him get so far out on a limb. Because when he's wrong, the fall is a spectacular watch . At least he showed up to respond. Only a handful of the "Yankee" fans have shown up to take their lumps. So you have to give him some amount of respect.
