  5. According to BA Red Sox's Craig Shipley is the hardest International scouting director to deal with for a media outlet.
  6. Puerto Rican SS/2B Kenneth Roque who was the Red Sox 10th round pick last June and signed to a $70, 000 had a heck of a day Monday 7/09 while playing in the GCL when he commited 5 errors while playing second base, to offset that he is hitting for a 125 average. Did I said that Roque now has 12 errors in the season, 12 errors in 13 games played.
  7. The Dodgers beat the Yankees #2 Monday 7-1 to remain in second place in Boca Chica North division 20- 11 1/2 game behind the Dodgers. Tuesday the Sox plays Tampa bay. 8. Thank You, Isn't a reflection of the system, but a weakness at the position, As a whole package Buchholz is one of the best pitching prospect if not the best. Other pitching prospects may throw harder consistently but not one has the whole package like Buchholz does.
  9. Yes they do, but the lower level pitchers are very talented.
  10. Its very well known that Clay Buchholz and Mike Bowden are the top staring RHP in the Red Sox system, but what's after them? Coming into the 2007 minor league season the Red Sox brass expected someone from the group of Daniel Bard, Justin Masterson, Jorge Rodriguez, Devern Hansack or Caleb Clay to jump out, well Bard really struggle in lancaster and while he has pitched a lot better in Greenville he has been less than dominating, Clay couldn't make a full season squad out of Springtraining and has pitched well in Lowell, but again he hasn't been overpowering, Rodriguez was able to make the Greenville roster out of Spring training, but has pitched as a middle reliever and not very well, Hansack has pitched well in Pawtucket, but not like a top propect and who knows how old he is, which leads of to Masterson. Any baseball person will tell you that Masterson future is a set up reliever, however he has pitched as a starter the whole season first at lancaster where we all lnow that the park isn't healthy to pitcher and while it took a while he was able to get a grip of the California league to the point where he earned a promotion to AA. The next group of prospects which includes Jimmy James, Emilis Guerrero and Pedro Perez while talented, the jury still out on them and there's some questions. The more mature group of Chris Jones, David Pauley, Chris Smith and Matt Goodson are less talented and have taken a step back in 2007. This lead to the future, and the Sox drafted a large group of Talented RHP and have signed pitchers like Brock Huntzinger, Thomas Pressly and Hunter Strickland plus more who may be on the way and the addition of Anthony Alvarado with also the DSL prospects like Solmy Pimentel, Anataner Batista, Javier Jimenez, Charlie Rosario and Yeiper Castillo the fure isn't bleak.
  11. I don't know if he has signed, but Seatle was very interested on him. By the way all of the Latin players who signed recently with the Red Sox have signed 2008 contract, which means that they can practice with the team, but can't play in any organized games until 2008.
  12. Jackson, I saw Jose Jose take batting practice at the end of March and he showed a very quick bat with good pop.
  13. Let me see where i should start to repond to your friendly post, when I have a problem (post) about a player its because lack of talent and not because of been a racist like you claim, however those players that you defended are all white players, so what is the issue here are you a RACIST or better yet do you a personal interest in anyone of them? Which I believe that you do. Like I posted earlier about Beazly and Papelbon, they're 24 yrs pitching against hitters a lot younger than they're in Low A ball. Lets take Papelbon for example you have a picher that pitches in the low 80's with the only movenment of the pitch comes from the arm angle that he pitches and while he pitches to a lot less experienced hitters he its getting hit to a 293 average and has allowed more hits than innings pitched (51 H-45 IP) Beaszly and his great control on the other hand pitches with a fastball that sits at 85 and may not touch any harder than 87 has a 5.22 ERA in 101 IP while allowing 12 HR. last night for example was another example of it, but I understand this might be to much for you to understand. In my post about Mario Pena if you could read I said that he wasn't a very good prospect, but while he was getting released another LHP like Adam Blackley with less talent keep getting opportunities after opportunities just because he was Australian like his fellow countrymen Craig Shipley. In your post you keep saying that I flip out, well if expresing my view point is fliping out then i flip, but it's very clear that some of those Latin players that you mentioned they didn't get the same opportunities as the other non latin players. One last point I post about Latin players because its hard to get information about them and like to share my knowledge whith my fellows prospect follower if you have an issue with it don't read it, however its my opinion that your issue is that i gave out the facts of a personal interest of yours.
  14. The Royals pitching issue 14 bases on balls and their defense commited 4 errors as the Red Sox beat the Royals 12-5 Saturday and now are 19-11 on the season in second place of Boca chica North 1/2 game off the Dodgers. The Sox attack was lead by outfielder Juan Bonifacio who had 3 singles in 5 AB 1 run scored and one RBI, fellow Outfielder Wilfi Santana had 2 singles in 5 AB 2 runs scored and 2 RBI, second baseman Wilfred Pichardo 3-1 with 2 runs scored 3 bases on balls and 2 stolen bases (#14 on the season), first baseman Eddie Lora also got 3 bases on balls in addition of a base hit and 1 run scored, Short stop German Reyes only had a hit but was a HR his #2 on the season. Stolmy Pimentel was the Sox starter 4 IP 2 h 1 R 1 ER 1 BB 4 K, followed by Brandon Ulloa 2 3 H 4 R 0 ER 4 BB 1 K and finished by LHP Nestor lastreto (the winner) 3 IP 1 H 0 R 0 BB 1 K. Higly rated third Baseman Pedro Chourio made 2 errors (now 9 on the season) the 17 yrs Venezuelan its also hitting for a 175 hitting average. The Red Sox DSL was the only team in the whole system who won Saturday. The Sox plays the Yankees #2 on Monday.
  15. Jackson, Masterson is a RHP.
  16. The last two night are a good example of why the Red Sox would be in Deep trouble when they go in the playoffs.
  17. Sometimes the Red Sox player development philosophy leaves anyone scratching their head, one of them is having Travis Beazley and Josh Papelbon pitching in Low A Greenville, I am talking about a pair of 24 yrs pitching in Low a ball when there's a lot younger pitchers pitching in the ML. Beazly and Papelbon have very VERY limeted pitching talent and are taking away inning way from a lot more talented pitchers who needs the innings to develop.
  18. Azblue, I haven't seen Pinto play, but have talk to people who has, and according to them he has outstanding defensive skills, specially his arm, but his bat isn't as developed, however he just turned 17 yrs old so there's hope for his bat, he isn't playing as much as Maykol Sanchez.
  19. Friday's Red Sox game was rain out.
  20. AZBlue, You welcome, with the recent signing, this how the red Sox minor league prospect comes from. Dominican Republic- 44 Venezuela 32 Australia 5 Taiwan 4 Puerto Rico 3 Colombia 2 Cuba 1 Canada 1 Honduras 1 Nicaragua 1 Panama 1 Curacao 1 Mexico 0 (But 1 Mexican decent)
