  1. Jackson, I did post about this briefly in the DSL thread, the International prospect signing for 16 yrs starts today July second, it may take a day or two to find out who has signed, there quite a few top prospects whose name are attached to both the yankees and the Red Sox. The Sox signed in June perhaps the top prospect in Taiwan in 18 yrs outfielder Che-Hauang Lin and is playing in the GCL.
  2. You don't to give outs to manafacture runs, more hit and run, not holding the speed players on bases (more stealing) I believe that the Red Sox where seventh in runs scored coming in into todays game, that's not acceptable, a hitting slump doesn't last this long. Believe or not the high OBP thing may have something to do with this, by this I mean hitters are taking too many pitches, taking pitches that they could drive and some are just happy taking the base on balls.
  3. Watching the Red Sox hitters for most of the season under the direction of Dave Magadan has been very pain full. In keeping in mind this man (Magadan) was fired by the Padres in mid season last year because of inability to have the their hitters to produce, the sox hitters aren't just making average pitchers look like Hall of famers, but border line ML pitchers look like Hall of famers and was only signed because of his frienship with francona and when you add francona's inability to manafacture runs by play station to station offense you get the result that the Red Sox result are giving.
  4. This note isn't directly connected with the DSL, but inderectly its is. July second is the first day that 16 yrs old international prospects can sign with ML organizations and with july second around the corner it will be interesting who will the Sox sign, there are quite a few elite prospects whose name have been mentioned as possible prospect who might sign with the Red Sox. In 2006 the Sox signed this prospects at this time. Engel Beltre CF Oscar Tejeda SS Anthony Alvarado RHP Stolmy Pimental RHP Manuel Rivera LHP Pedro Chourio 3B Wilfredo Pichardo 2B Juan Bonifacio LF Ernesto Reyes LHP Beltre, Tejeda and Alvarado are playing in the GCL with rest playing in the DSL and we have talk about them in this thread.

  6. River, have you ever seen Josh Papelbon pitch?
  7. At the end of the 2006 GCL season there was some questions of who was the better prospect between Venezuelan LHP Felix Doubront and Dominican LHP Jose Capellon. Doubront made the Greenville roster but because he had hernia surgery over the Winter missed almost the first month and half and when he started pitching in Greenville has been a shadow of the pitcher that he was in the 2005 VSL and 2006 GCL if he's healthy there has to be a lot of concerns. Capellan on the other hand stayed in extended Springt raining until he was the openning game starter for lowell and in his first two starts has been very good, it may not be until the end of the season where we may get a better picture.
  8. The Sox lost to Toronto 2 on Thursday 7-5, Dominican lefthanded Cesar Cabral who coming into this game had not allowed an earned run this season was the Sox starter and looser. 1 2/3 IP 7 H 6 R 6 ER 0 BB 3 K followed by Brandon Ulloa 4 1/3 IP 1 H 1 R 1 ER 2 BB 6 K LHP Nestor Lastreto finished for the Sox 2 IP 1 H 0 R 0 BB 0 K. At the plate Venezuelan OF Ronald Bermudez was the Sox top hitter 5-3 with two doubles 1 run scored and two RBI, fellow of Roberto Feliz had a doublw and a run scored in 5 AB. Friday the Sox entry beat the Royals 9-8, outfielder Roberto feliz was the hitting star 3-3 with his first HR with 3 RBI and 2 R, second baseman Wilfred Pichardo 5-2 with a run scored and 1 stolen base, catcher Maykol Sanchez 3-2 with a run scored and RBI, Ronald Bermudez 4-1 with 2 runs scored and Dominicans 1B Eddie Lora with a bases clearing triple (3RBI) and a run scored SS German Reyes had a double and run scored in 4 AB. The Sox starter was RHP Charlie Rosario 4 IP 7 H 5 R 3 ER 0 BB 5 K, followed by 16 yrs (youngest player on the team) Venezuelan LHP Ernesto Reyes and game winner 1 IP 0 H 1 R 1 ER 1 BB 2 K, Colombian RHP Randy Consurgra 2 IP 3 H 2 R 2 R 3 BB 1 K and RHP Dennie neuman from Curacao 2 K 0 H 0R 1 BB 1 K SV. The Sox are now 14-9 in second place of division leader Dodgers 1 1/2 games behind. On saturday the Sox plays the Yankees 2.
  9. Just don't know how did I miss that the reason the Red Sox had the best record in baseball was because of francona being the manager, man You're really sharp, LOL, and you're right i am not very smart because if I was I wouldn't be talking to a MF JACKASS like you.
  10. If you read my posts, it wasn't related to the Seatle series, and you're wrong the reason they're 11 games ahead of the Yankees is because the Yankees haven't play well the whole year not because francona is the manager of the Red Sox.
  11. A better question would be to name three games where he hasn't made a mistake.
  12. In 2006 the Sox weren't a very good hitting team, but in general Jackson did a good job, in his time in Boston, however Jackson was replaced by a Francona man in Magadan, a man that was fired by the Padres in 2006 because he couldn't do the job. In 2007 under the directions of Magadan and with more talent the Sox are hitting less than in 2006, I wonder why???
  13. River, there was more than, you don't let Ichiro beat you, on the third inning with two outs you don't pitch to him. In the ninth inning with Ichiro in second base and with first base open you don't pitch to Vidro, in addition with a squad having problem scoring runs you don't play station to station with your speed players. But the issue isn't just tonight, is game in game out. Don't look now, but if the Sox don't make the play off or not far in it does he comes back for 2008??
  14. Timlin had a very good 2005, not 2004, his time to move on has come, but with anything with francona he falls in love with players and won't let go until it will hurt the team, but the time is now.
  15. That's right he isn't a manager he's a PR, most of his moves are the wrong move, tonight is prove of it.
  16. Come on, Well he gets my vote for ML JACKASS of the year.
  17. Any Francona fan in the house?
  18. Thank You, There is a long road from the DSL to ML, but its nice tofollow the prospects from the lower levels. Derwin Pinto who I have talk about in the last few posts recently turned 17 yrs and the 5-10 195 right handed hitter bat its behind his defense, specially his arm.
  19. After beating the Marlins Monday 19-0, the Red Sox beat the Dodgers on Tuesday 5-2 and now are 13-8 in second place on their own division 1/2 game behind the Dodgers who is in first place. Solmy Pimentel was the starter and winnwer Tuesday 5 IP 4H 0R 3 BB 5 K, followed by Velezuelan RHP Alberto Gonzalez 2 2/3 IP 1 H 2 R 1 ER 2 BB 1 K and closed by RHP Dennis Neuman 1 1/3 1 H 0 R 0 BB 2 K (SV). Dominican Catcher Derwin Pinto was the top hitter with 2 hits incluiding a double in 4AB 2 RBI 1 SB, OF Roberto Feliz 3-1 with one run scored and 1 RBI and second baseman Wilfred Pichardo with a double in 3 AB a run scored and 1 SB. Talking about Pinto he threw out the 2 runners who tried to steal and now has thrown out 83 % of the runners who have tried to steal against him. Wednesday the Sox plays against the Giants.
  20. Since early in 2006 Mike Timlin has showed that he wasn't the same pitcher that he was years back. I believe that the Red Sox surprised most by resigning Timlin for 2007. Timlin not only has had health issues in 2007 but when he has pitched he has been hit very hard, there has been some talk that his goal its to had pitched in 1000 ML games and coming into 2007 he only needed 39 games, but would the Red Sox let him taking a beating just to reach that goal? francona has shown that he would play or pitch his favorites at whatever cost.
  21. The Sox pitchers gave 15 bases on balls but only four base hits Saturday as the Sox entry beat the Tampa one 6-5 and now are 11-8 in third place of its division 1 1/2 game behind leader Dodgers. Dominican RHP Charlie Rosario who has replaced fellow Dominican RHP Victor De la Cruz in the starting staff was the Starter Rosario 4 IP 1 H 2 R 2 ER 2 BB 5 K, follow by Venezuelan LHP Ernesto Reyes 1 2/ 3 IP 0 H 1 R 1 ER 4 BB 0 K. De la Cruz 1 2/3 IP 0 H 2 R 2 ER 7 BB 1 K and closed by LHP Manuel Rivera 1 2/3 IP 3 H 0 R 0 Er 2 BB 2 K. Red Sox run scoring leader, switch hitting lead off hitter and second baseman Wilfred Pichardo was the hitting star with 2-2 1 R 1 RBI 1 BB and outfielder Roberto Feliz 5-2 2 R 1 RBI.
  22. Correll is a 26 yrs who just got signed from the Independent leagues, old for the league and the Parl (lancaster and the California league) is helping him out, not much of a prospect.
  23. I haven't seen this reported anywhere else, but on June eight Dominican RHP Stolmy Pimentel and Colombian RHP Randy Consuegra combined on a 6 innings no hitter against the Marlins entry, Pimental pitched 4 IP 0H 1 BB 5K and Consuegra 2 IP 3BB 2 K. The Red Sox DSL entry Starting pitching staff consist of Pimentel,Cesar Cabral, Anatanaer Batista, Victor De La Cruz and Javier Javier Jimenez, a all Domican group with Cabral being the left hander in addition Pimental and Jimemez being first year players and the rest second year players. In the first 8 games of the DSl season first year Dominican catcher Derwin Pinto had thrown 75% of the runners who had tried to steal against him. First year SS Dominican German Reyes had only one hit in 17 Ab or first six games but had 5 errors.
  24. Jimmy James and Scott Blue who didn't pitch in 2006 and only four games in 2005 because Shoulder issues pitched on Friday with different results. The Venezuelan James who according baseball America was the 20th best prospect in 2004 pitched for Lowell with 5 IP 2 H and 0 R, on the other hand Blue who was the Sox fifth round pick in 2005 pitched in the GCL 1 IP 2 H 2 ER 2 BB 1 K.
  25. The red Sox entry beat Yankees #2 4-3 Friday and now are 10-8 on the season Dominican LHP Cesar Cabral was the Sox starter 4 1/3 IP 2 H 2 R 2 Er 1 BB 7 K follow by RHP Brandon Ulloa who got the win 1 2/3 IP 2 H 1 R 1 ER 2 BB 2 K and LHP Edwin Lopez 3 IP 1 H 0 R 0 BB 3 K and the save. At the bat dominican Catcher Maykol Sanchez was the top hitter 5-2 (a double) 2 RBI Roberto Feliz 1 double in 5 AB 1 RBI and first baseman Eddie Lora had a double in 2 AB and 2 base on balls. Saturday the Sox plays Tampa.
