Yes. Basically getting him able to play the rest of the season at pretty much 100%, and then fixing the problem in the off-season. -

The breaking news is that they will have a minor surgery now, to repair the impingement. What that means is that the bone is grating on the bone. This will fix this problem. In the off-season, he will have the major surgery to fix the deformity in the bone. He's only out 6-9 weeks. That's three weeks in the regular season to 1 1/2 months. That's much easier to swallow at this point. -

You know what name makes a lot of sense as a replacement? Adrian Beltre. He's in the last year of his contract, he makes 12 million a year, and he's a very good defensive 3rd baseman. He could stay at 3rd, allowing Arod to come back as a DH. He'd give the Yankees great depth when Arod comes back, and considering the Mariners aren't going anywhere this year, they'd probably be happy to shed the 12 million off their books. He's a Boras client, so he's probably gone after the season anyways. A mid-level prospect package would probably cut it, and actually may be too much to take that salary off the books. You heard it here first. -

Yup. A player having a bad appearance in May is one thing. Losing your best player for four months when you are neck and neck with the other two teams is another. You're an idiot if you can't see the difference.

Another year of no playoffs. No way the Yankees can make up the loss of Arod unless there is a major injury to other players on the Sox/Rays. Another quiet October under Cashman's watch. -
All this from me calling him Diaper. I love it. Hey, Crespo...are you upset because you wear Dependz? Just curious.... Seriously...with this going back to the Yankees CF discussion...I for one, hope that Brett Garnder wins. I'd like to see Melky as the late inning defensive replacement for Damon. In Yankee Stadium, Melky's arm is a big factor, and he has good range. Couple him with Gardner, and not many balls will fall in center and left.

Idiot....I'm still waiting....keep searching....still waiting....keep searching...still waiting.... Diaper....you know what's funny? Jacko, of all people, has handed you your ass on this one. Not because he's right, but he's at least backing up his point with logic, and your head is so far up your ass to realize it. Ellsbury had better numbers, no doubt. Both of them averaged about 1 steal every 10 ABs. Their defense is very similar, they both have average/below average arms and very good/great range. OH...MY GUY IS BETTER, SO YOU'RE IDIOTS...that's your argument...except that no one is arguing who's better. All people are saying is that they are similar players. It's like comparing Tex and Youk. Similar players. It's not like comparing Arod and Lowell. Totally different players.

This section shows how stupid you really are. 1) I never said that Gardner is any good. I think both him and Ellsbury suck. Gardner sucks more, that's all. In that case, he's a poor man's Ellsbury. They both are the same type of player, they both suck, and Ellsbury sucks less. 2) Don't look at me for saying Gardner is going to be a good or elite player. Follow your own advice and go make me a cheeseburger deluxe, medium rare. Hey Youk...you should have a screening process before you let these Red Sox morons post here...like, can they point to Boston on a globe or something.

Diaper you are an idiot. They are both good speed, little power players with similar OBPs in their careers. No one is saying that Ellsbury isn't better. Just that Gardner is a poor man's Ellsbury. You're too thick to realize that. Agreed.

ORS, I'm not missing the point. I didn't make that point. The Yankees are doing what the Sox did a few years back. They went with three players in their prime to long-term deals. The Red Sox are trying to catch lightning in a bottle with older players switching leagues, like Clemens. It is true that the money difference is huge. No question. However, I didn't make that point, because it is obvious to anyone who follows baseball and our teams. That's is. Don't read into it any more than that. I'm as critical of my team's personnel moves as you guys are, and they're my team.

No argument there, with one exception. The guys you've signed are all coming off injuries and are old. That's it. We had less holes than you in the past, and did exactly what you're doing. Don't read into it. What a terrible inferiority complex you guys have. When you signed Dice-K, Drew, and Lugo, you had holes we didn't. We were the one's going with the "veterans". Just because it didn't work doesn't mean it won't work for you. That's it. All I'm saying, and people who are ESL like diaper can't understand it, but I'm not surprised since all he knows how to do is pump gas. We're all biased towards out team, but I'm one of the least biased ones. Diaper, the next time you question my objectivity and compare it to Jacko's, God help me, I'll get you deported.

Guys...the Red Sox signed Saito, Smoltz, and Penny. All three injured, two of them old. The Yankees signed two guys in their prime and in their mid/late 20s, and a pitcher with dominating stuff at 32, in which, most astute baseball people believe, will still have dominant stuff until at least 35, albeit with a spotty injury history. I didn't say I don't like the moves, I'm just saying that the teams have reversed roles a bit. It's now the Red Sox who are going for the older, more brittle players. That's all.
