  1. That's because you are not an idiot. I cringe every time I see that. It's not like they were behind, they were just padding a lead. Clueless Joe.
  2. Dude, relax. It's friggin' April. We'll be there at the end. Too much talent on the team. Let these guys have their fun now. If the Yankees win tomorrow, they are 10-13, and on their way up. One game at a time, shore up the pitching, and we will be fine. By the way, I was at the game yesterday, and even at 4-4, it was the most boring Yankee-Red Sox game I have ever been at with a tie score. There was no life in the stadium. Sucked.
  3. I can actually say I have mixed feelings about this win. I truthfully would have traded the Yankees getting swept if it meant Girardi as our manager. All in all, just one game, and Torre did it again. Igawa pitching well, brought in his bullpen. Can this guy ever have a pitcher go into the eighth?
  4. Lets not forget that both inherited runners he left to the bullpen scored. If the bullpen did it's job, cut the runs given up by half. Also, the runs scored off of him were off of infield singles. Sometimes, you look better than your line. That was also the case with Beckett. We got the runs early, and then he settled in.
  5. Now I know what it feels like to be a Sox fan in August...this sucks. By the way, the Yankees were willing to make the deal, the Pirates weren't. Can't put that on the Yankees.

    Torre must go

I would take Girardi over Donnie Baseball as a manager at this point. Girardi is a proven commodity, but when you come to think of it, Willie Randolph wasn't proven, and he has done a decent job so far. Torre's staff has moved on to managing, with Mazzilli [at the time] Girardi, Randolph, etc. Shame is that the weakest link in the Yankee coaching staff is the man who calls the shots. Why can't he have a non-life threatening ailment that will keep him from coaching for the rest of the year? Something like syphillis in an early stage?
  8. I've never been a Hughes fan, go back and check my posts, I haven't flip-flopped. I just don't like him. You call that trolling? Sorry, I forgot, if you're not part of the mainstream, you are trolling. Clueless...hey wait, you're related to Joe Torre, aren't you? As a Beckett clone, I mean a 5.00 ERA like last year. Sorry, not sold on the guy. I hope I'm wrong, but I've seen WAY too many can't miss who missed. Beckett has been a star, just not when wearing a Red Sox uniform. I'm talking about his Red Sox career, not Marlin career.
  9. Do you want extras? I don't think I'm going. He's going to suck. Ok, I know I'm being pessimistic, but I don't see this guy being a star. I see a Beckett clone.
  10. If this torrid April is even 1% due to his getting the whole Jeter pussyfication issue behind him then fine.
  11. Even though this game isn't his fault, Torre should be fired.

    Torre must go

For the 257th time, I gave your team credit. You know, as a manager, you can only make the right moves. Now, if you get beat with your best, that's one thing. However, Torre doesn't make the right moves. So the fact of the matter remains that Torre doesn't make the moves needed to win. Example: The Sox come back on Sunday, so Tito leaves Matsuzaka in to face Arod. That was the right move. Arod gets a hit, so he is gone. If Torre's pitchers had a 7-2 lead going into the 7th, its time to take him out. It's like Torre thinks his starters will spontaneously combust if they go into the 7th inning, even if they have a 264 run lead. Torre burns his pen in games he WINS for no reason, and the bullpen is ineffective in games he LOSES. Coincidence? No freaking way.

    Torre must go

Boston MVP: JOE TORRE People forget that the Yankees had the lead going into the 7th in two of the three games. He can't match up period. I am disgusted.

    Torre must go

It's not even that. He burns his pen even when he wins. I would love to have Francona manage the Yankees. I never was a Torre fan, and this series just drove me nuts. He's clueless. Look at Tito. He has a lead, he lets Matsuzaka go deep. I am willing to bet anyone here that sometime this week, the Yankees will have a 5-2 or 6-2 lead in the sixth inning and here comes the bullpen. THOSE are the games that cost the Yankees in Boston. His pen is so overworked that when he uses them in big spots, they s*** the bed because their arms are going to fall off. Let me give you an example. Yankees have the lead on Friday, he takes out Pettitte. Bullpen blows the game. Sunday. Yankees have the lead again. Brings in Pettitte. Umm...why didn't you LEAVE PETTITE IN ON FRIDAY? Why? Because he is an idiot, that's why. I agree with the move in bringing him in, he gets through the inning. Now what? Next inning, he has Manny and Drew up. So what does he do? HE BRINGS IN PROCTOR! Manny is 5 for 8 against Manny with three homeruns. So instead of having the lefty for Drew, he gives the Sox the advantage twice. He is absolutely horrible. The Yankees will NEVER win another World Series with this guy managing the team.
  15. It is about time that Torre is shown the door. He is a piss-poor strategist, and the Yankees win in spite of him. I can't believe I am saying it, but I am wishing for the days of a younger Steinbrenner. He would have been long gone by now. Truth be told, the Yankees SHOULD have won two of three games at Fenway this weekend. I'm not taking anything away from the Sox efforts, but he had a lead going into the 7th inning I believe in both games, and due to his pitching mismanagement, they lost both games. It is time for Torre to go. Not at the end of the season. NOW. Not only will they do better, but it may just show Arod that the manager that put him 8th last season in Detroit is no longer his coach. Torre is probably as bad a strategist as the Yankees have ever had. Stump Merrill could have won with this team.
  16. That's funny ORS. The guy has had one pitch his ENTIRE career. There isn't any guessing with him. Even Paps has two pitches. It's not like he has been surprising hitters at all. Everyone in the park knows what's coming when he pitches. It doesn't matter how many times through an order you go through, it won't change.
  17. Yanks take two out of three. Wang in the rotation, and Posada and Matsui back in the rotation lead the Yankees to two wins. Then again, the Sox sweep their opponents and the Yankees lose 2 of 3 to Tampa, and I'll change my mind.
  18. No. He has the nastiest stuff I have seen this year, without question. He is downright filthy. Like I said, hats off to you guys, I am a good sport [unlike many others here, you know who you are], enjoy your sweep, see you in New York next weekend. Once again, being a baseball fan and player, I understand the superstition of the game, and regardless of the end result, I truly apologize for breaking up your "mojo" for game threads. It is the last time, however, that I will apologize for it, it is annoying from my end to see people keep complaining about it. It was an honest mistake from my end. I also know I would have never heard the end of it had the Yankees won. Yanks win two of three in the Bronx. My call.
  19. Example, read my post. From the series as a whole, I wasn't all that impressed with Sox pitching. It wasn't world-class like I was reading here.
  20. Realize one thing. You had your top three going against the worst rotation we have had in ten years. Posada and Matsui didn't play in the series. You outscored us by four runs. Once again, credit to your team for sweeping the series, but the Sox don't look all that scary to this Yankee fan.
