  1. He's gonna parlay this season into a starting job somewhere
  2. You did see it. Though I think Pettittes return will help greatly in that category
  3. Nyyfans.com isnt very smart. Segedin is a power hitter, and it sounds like he's being moved to RF
  4. Vazquez is dealing with some serious dead arm. We need Pettitte back. With Hughes showing his inexperience, Vazquez' dead arm, and Burnett's unpredictability, this rotation is suddenly suspect
  5. Segedin has signed as has Daniel Burawa. Segedin is a power hitting righty considered to be one of the best college bats in the draft. He was a 3b in college, but probably profiles as a COFer in the Yanks system. Burawa is a big righty reliever out of st johns. He throws a mid 90s sinker with an overpowering slider. His problem remains location
  6. Improving. Can't be worse than posadas, he has looked like he's made of stone behind the plate
  7. Joe needs to remember something. Mariano has NEVER been good in the regular season at being a guy who holds a tie.
  8. A few other nice notes... Brett Marshall threw 7 shutout innings yesterday as he continues to soldier back from TJS. He's looking as good as ever Aceves came back for Scranton and pitched 0.2IP. Sounds like the velo was in the 88-90 range. Gary Sanchez hit ANOTHER homer. The 17 yr old has 6 homers and an OPS of 1.045 in the GCL. He looks like Montero reincarnate Melky Mesa is putting his name on the map. In a pitcher's league, he has 17 homers and 30SBs while playing a balls out CF.
  9. He wasnt done. 3 for 4 with a homer yesterday as well. Line up to .287/.360/.494. Here are his OPS' by month... April- .696 May- .635 June- .829 July- 1.072 August- 1.363 His OPS post ASB is a ridiculous 1.248 with 7 homers in 23 games. The scouting report on him early this yr was that the pitchers started throwing off the plate against him. He worked his share of walks, but got anxious and started chasing. They tried an adjustment to his swing in late April, which just didnt take. He went back to his old swing, but with a bit more experience and started holding off on those outside pitches, or driving them off the wall in right. Now, he is just unstoppable. BRING HIM UP!
  10. Desze sounds like he's gonna sign. Dean sounds like he's definitely out
  11. The Rangers werent willing to take on 4 million dollars of Cliff Lee's salary, and he's the best pitcher in the AL. The Yankees got the Astros to take most of Lance Berkman's salary and the Guardians to take Kerry Wood's. You have to keep in mind the economic times here
  12. Exactly. You'll be better off keeping them and hoping they can find the fountain of youth
  13. Sometimes I hate being completely right...
  14. So you think a corner OFer who misses frequent games with aches and pains AND is in his mid 30s at $14 mil per is gonna get a big return? The sox got under value in 2007, over value in 2008 and 2009 and are currently not getting a big return on value in 2010. And Cameron is probably gonna be post surgery at 7 mil a yr at 38y old. He's gonna have a market?
  15. Jesus Montero went 3 for 4 with a walkoff 2 run homer against the PawSox tonight. BA up to .282. OPS up to .840
  16. It's been common knowledge spouted by every announcer on EEI and spoken out of Mankins mouth in a previous interview
  17. Joe Girardi is a f***ing idiot. Yep, start Granderson against one of the best lefties in baseball. SOLID idea, Gardner had a better chance since he actually stands in there against lefties. Grandy just flails away like he's trying to protect himself
  18. Theo would have to pay the majority of the contracts of Cameron and Drew and wouldnt get anything back
  19. Logan has been money since coming back up. He might be making Marte obsolete
  20. Pettitte had no problem with a bullpen today. He's gonna fly to Tampa after the sox series to throw a simulated game. If that goes well, he'll throw 2 rehab starts and be back in the Bronx by the end of the month.
  21. As long as they dont lose them for the season, then they have enough interim talent to hold it together. Their problem will continue to be their lineup
  22. And them leading the league in OPS has them out of the playoffs at the moment. If the offense is downgraded, then they need to tighten up somewhere else
  23. Then they get Sonnanstine to come out and hold the Jays to 1 run. That team is very, very deep in the pitching department. Hellickson and Sonnanstine could come up and do a good enough job replacing those guys that it wouldnt hurt too much
  24. Joe Morgan is a f***ING RETARD. Dead red has NOTHING to do with the trail behind it. When you throw a 4 seam fastball, it looks red since all 4 seams are rotating one over the other.
  25. The sox LF position has a .718OPS this yr, not too far from the .754 career line of Jacoby. The SBs would definitely be the difference maker there The sox CF position is where the money would be made. Sox CFers are .694OPS, while Cameron's career is right around .800. Bill Hall for 6 weeks has hurt, but he is really having a good yr. He has a .784OPS. Regardless, taking a snakebit team, then downgrading them and relying on health is not a prudent idea.
