  1. for Omar Infante and Mike Dunn.
  2. SO a 29 yr old journeyman has a season where he showed minimal blocking skills, almost no OBP skills and solid power and gets a 3 yr deal. This has to only help VMart's position. And I bet you that VMart's contract will have a 5th yr attached be it guaranteed or a vesting option
  3. VMart should easily get 5 yrs now. VMart is the best catcher to hit the market in years and is only 18 months older than Buck.
  4. He just turned 23 yrs old and has slugged 60 big league homers already. He also regressed a bit in 2010, but the power, speed and defense are there. This kid got a big contract because the DBacks wanted to retain him. He is gonna be a star in this league for a long time
  5. Upton would take a massive, massive payoff in terms of prospects and MLB ready talent.
  6. But none of them "panned out." Atchison was a good mop up guy, but the sox needed setup men and they couldnt get one aside from an overworked Bard.
  7. He's a FA, so I dont think he comes back
  8. You will be trading for him as a 2b in terms of what you will give up. Then, if you move him to the OF, you already drop his stock
  9. PFP is the job of the pitching coach and the infield coach.
  10. The assumption is based on Domonic Brown being ready
  11. Cameron Maybin was traded to the Padres today
  12. he is out of options
  13. Oh he still throws very hard. He has never learned how to harness it, though.
  14. Command. He can still top out around 97-98mph. He has never learned how to pitch, though
  15. Richardson's upside was as a loogy. Miller's upside is as a dominant pitcher. The problem is, Dusty was closer to his ceiling than Miller is or may ever be.
  16. The reason was salary as usual. Miller costs almost $3 million and is out of options.
  17. Traded from the Marlins to the Sox. The sox sent Dustin Richardson back. Miller is a much more talented arm IMO and I think this could be a steal for Boston
  18. Dojji, even if the trio of Lowrie, Salty, and Kalish prove they are ready and able for prime time starting positions in 2012, would you really want to add to that issue by bringing up a rookie DH? My bet would be on another 1 yr stopgap at DH for 2012 and then seeing if the lineup has solidified. By then, Lavarnway could be up
  19. I think VMart is gone as well. With Texas, Detroit and probably the White Sox interested in him and most likely willing to go past 3 yrs, then I dont think he comes back I think the same thing about Beltre. He had an MVP caliber season in Boston and with the sox wanting in on AdGon in 2012 or Fielder, then it makes no sense to lock in on a 3b. I do expect them to make an upgrade in the outfield and move Jacoby back to CF. I also wouldnt be surprised to see Miguel Olivo in Boston as a platoon mate for Salty. Now Salty hasnt been good in his MLB tenure. But his numbers as a RHB are absolutely abysmal. His OPS in his big league career as a RHB is under .600. His OPS as a lefty hitter is in the .760 range, which is passable at the C position. My prediction for them at this juncture is as follows 1. Ellsbury CF 2. Pedroia 2B 3. Youkilis 3B 4. Ortiz DH 5. Werth LF 6. Drew RF 7. D. Lee 1B 8. Olivo/Saltalamacchia C 9. Scutaro/Lowrie SS I bet the sox go out and get a 1 yr stopgap at 1b, a guy who they could potentially rehabilitate value on a 1 yr deal and potentially get some draft picks back a la Adrian Beltre. Derrek Lee fits that mold. This also allows for the sox to work Lowrie into the mix a bit more as a 3b/1b/backup SS and potentially get somewhere in the neighborhood of 120 starts for him. I think Werth fits in Boston too well, and while they wont be willing to go the extra mile for VMart and Beltre, they will for Werth. There is a reason for it.... The sox have Kalish, who I think will be an excellent player one day. But I do not forsee it in 2011. They have 2 OFers going into their final yrs in Boston, in Cameron and Drew. The sox look like they are about to lose 2 middle of the order cogs from 2010 in Beltre and VMart. Therefore, they can add significant power in the OF while also allowing for a spot to open in 2012 for the presumably emerging Kalish. Also, Papi and Scutaro also come off the books after 2011. That frees up the sox to move Lowrie over to SS and then still bring in an AdGon as a FA as the 1b. This also gives the sox a 1 yr trial on Salty and see if he can hack it. If he cannot, then the sox might not be that hard up to sign a defense first guy like a Gerald Laird and stick him back there knowing that he wont cost you games with his arm or his blocking skills. I think in Theo's utopia.....Werth signs, the sox get AdGon in 2012, and Salty/Kalish/Lowrie progress into regulars. Theo's utopia lineup 2012 1. Ellsbury CF 2. Pedroia 2B 3. Youkilis 3B 4. Gonzalez 1B 5. Werth RF 6. Kalish LF 7. Lowrie SS 8. Saltalamacchia C 9. ??? (Maybe Ortiz) DH Obviously, if they sign a power bat to fill in at DH, that batter would move up to around #6
  20. He pretty much copied his exact 2010 line from AAA.
  21. Yeah, but he did pitch in Colorado. Regardless, I agree, he isnt a world beater and shouldnt be an option for us
  22. 20 homers next yr? I think that is his projection in his prime. I highly doubt he reaches 20 this yr
  23. It counts the last 2 seasons and in 2009, he was pretty good
