  1. a couple sites had him going in the late 1st round, around pick #30
  2. Yanks took Dante Bichette Jr. with their supp pick. He's listed as a SS, though Oppenheimer considers him a future 3B. The scouting sites, though, see him as an OFer. Regardless, he's got impressive power for a HSer, has a solid big league pedigree and a rocket arm. His price and lack of defined position dropped him a bit, as did his Georgia commit, but Oppenheimer has said emphatically that they will sign him. I like this pick a lot, especially since adding power is a big time priority this yr
  3. Haven't been as into the draft this season, for obvious reasons, but the sox first two picks were very solid. Barnes has top of the rotation stuff with lots of polish and Swihart gives you a legit catching prospect who actually looks like he can stick as a C
  4. It's all about his location y228. Colon throws a downright nasty sinker there, a la Wang. Not sure why he waited until now to unleash it. He cannot operate up in the zone. The Trumbo HR and the Conger double were both elevated. He does need to work in his off-speed stuff, and the thing is, his breaking ball and change arent bad. I think he regresses to the mean due to injury and stamina issues more than anything, but if his stuff stays as it was yesterday, he'll still do well
  5. Couldn't watch the game since we're still in the hospital, but CC looked to be on fire in that one. Surprised to see him not start Mo in the 9th with a 2 run lead after a couple days off, but it ended up working out
  6. Yep, and her dad used to be a sox season ticket holder. He actually threw me outta the house one year when the pats lost out on the playoffs yet the jets went
  7. My wife hopes so. But she named her so that I could choose her baseball allegiance
  8. Thanks for the well wishes. It's an experience like no other
  9. It wuld be nice if, on the day my daughter is born, the yanks could beat Weaver
  10. Leave him where he is. Obviously, you've gotten him restarted. Before you rush him back to the top of the order, see if he can sustain his run now
  11. Thing is, he came into the league when Jordan was in the midst of his first 3-peat. He helped transition the league between the 3-peats and was the next ambassador when Jordan actually hung them up. He was awesome. And I hope, sincerely, that he does something that we all can see on a daily basis.
  12. I dont want the Yankee players to be in the AS game. I dont care about that game at all, and I would rather my team's players get 3 days of rest and be ready for the stretch run than play in a game that doesnt have much meaning
  13. Then you have Aceves and maybe Doubront, depending on how he rehabs. Regardless, losing your #5 isnt that big of a deal. I think the other loss today is actually more consequential
  14. This is a bigger loss than DiceK, IMO. Hill was shaping up to be a dominant LH reliever, especially with the way the sox reworked his mechanics. Without him, they're stuck with Okajima, who looks like a shell of himself, and the oft injured and poorly controlled Morales. Needless to say, a LH reliever will be near the top of Theo's July wish list
  15. Wake essentially slides into the #5 hole. It's a downgrade, but not a big one
  16. 19 years, shoe in HOFer, one of the all-time greats and probably the most unstoppable force on the hardwood in his hay-day. But I loved the way he carried himself. Said what was on his mind, lovable, happy, always trying to make people laugh and someone who loved being around people. He was also a very generous man. Good luck in your retirement Shaq. The only sad thing is that at his size, he probably wont be able to enjoy his retirement for too long....
  17. AJ pitched well enough to win. After the first, he looked like a different pitcher. We did enough offensively to beat a very solid pitcher today and the offense has been rolling against 3 top notch pitchers. Happy with this team right now
  18. The appropriate trade would be a 1-2 with a HR or a 2-2 with 2 doubles. In that setting, I take the two doubles every time. But if it is a 1-1 with a HR or a 2-2 with 2 doubles, I take the HR
  19. Guys, you are going to learn that plenty of people come and go with the years. I've been on this site for 6 years now, and I have seen some good posters banned and some big time trolls given longer leashes than they ever should have. It's a fluid situation. Eventually, though, someone else steps into their place and the beat just keeps on going. There is a line, and while some of us will tiptoe up to the line, those who repeatedly cross it need to be shown that there are repercussions. Otherwise, this place degenerates into a big "f*** YOU" battle and no good discussion comes out of it. As it stands, this is a very active site that has good, knowledgable discussion about multiple baseball and some other sports issues. In the end, the whole is much more important than the sum of its parts and the mods should take credit for that. I have been a regular poster on other sites that have seriously just fallen to the wayside or turned into s*** battles. This place has avoided that. So while some of you may not like their decisions, their track record should be all you need to see that they have been far more right than wrong
  20. I see, Dipre is gone. It was an eventuality, IMO. Oh well. BTW, Tito blew this one, but the sox just died as soon as Ramirez hit that double.
  21. Btw, is Dipre permabanned or on vaca?
  22. Francona saw the warning signs and he ignored them. How do you let Lester throw damn near 130 pitches when he's obviously not good tonight? And if you leave him in, how do you let him pitch to Ramirez after walking Pierre?
  23. The White Sox would need to go June and 0 to take the lead in the central.
