  1. I agree. His curve when he came up had a lot of loop to it, but had a ton of movement. He got hurt in his debut and never showed the same curve again. I liked his FB yesterday, seemed like he could get it up to 93 if he needed it, especially when he elevated it. He left a few out over the plate, but he got in on a few batters which I liked. A few of the balls off the bat that I thought were gone, were actually good pitches that jammed the hitters, hence why the balls stayed in the yard
  2. His bat has emerged. Not sure if the sox can keep him down much longer, he's literally tearing the cover off the ball. If he comes up in September and shows what he can do in a limited cameo, then the sox might flirt with the idea of letting Papi walk. If they dont, I think he's trade fodder
  3. Montgomery's season line thus far... 11IP 8H 3ER 26K 4BB. That's not a typo. His current K rate is 21.3K/9IP. He has been completely dominant
  4. He was 90-93. While not where he was last yr, that's a marked improvement over the beginning of the yr
  5. Didn't expect the sox to still be playing on my way home from work
  6. Austin "Bubba" jones, our power hitting 7th rounder, was in Tampa today, taking a physical
  7. Hughes has had a good go of it today. Baby steps, get him outta there!
  8. I'd re-MRI him. If it is just a muscle in the back, then they wouldnt have him throwing if it is causing this much trouble. You'd wait for the muscle to heal completely before torquing the back. This is why obliques take so long to heal. They are large muscles, integral in all movements of the core and you need to wait until they are 100% before you start using them again. My guess is that they are going to find something else on him come the second MRI.
  9. I think the sox may need to get a pitcher. Miller has turned out to be an absolute bust. Lackey had one good start this month, but still carries a July ERA of 7. Last night he sucked. Buchholz is still out and cannot throw off the mound because his back still hurts. Beckett's knee will be a ??? until he shows he can throw off the mound tonight without leaving early or being shaky. And Lester is on the DL, although it sounds like he could be back soon. With Buchholz having no timetable, you effectively have 2 viable starters going forward with three questionmarks and both of the viable starters have health concerns at the moment. I think the sox will definitely be looking into a starter who, while not necessarily needing to be dominant, can give innings to keep the pen off the mound. I think Ryan Dempster is at the top of that list. Most people will cringe at his overall numbers, but if you look at the splits, you'll see he's been very effective since an abysmal April. His ERA in April was 9.58. Since then, his ERA has been 3.13 or lower in each month and he's shown improved BAA, BB and K numbers
  10. He's the best available hitter during another "year of the pitcher" at the trade deadline. As long as the Mets are willing to assume half of the remaining contract, they will get a solid prospect.
  11. If you think they are stealing signs, then it is up to you to prevent that by making your signs harder to steal.
  12. He had 11 solid starts and finally put up one stinker and you were ready to call for him to fall apart. I said that his 11 starts before that were proof that he was better than that and you need to give him another start before you say he's spiralling out of control. Well, his next start was worse than the last. And he is saying that he's worried about the hammy when on the mound, even if it isnt hurting him. Now I am worried about him. In terms of Garcia, this may be just one bad start or the start of something bad. He's gotten by on smoke and mirrors thus far and has beaten some good offenses, but he was awful yesterday. Regardless, another bad start from Colon or another 2 from Garcia probably calls for Nova to come back up and a SP to be acquired.
  13. And Garcia puts up a stinker as well. Not starting out on the right foot. Rumors per George King are that the Yanks have been scouting Ubaldo Jimenez pretty hard of late. I smell another farm gutting deal in the works. Don't like it from here
  14. I am now significantly concerned about Colon. 2 terrible starts in a row
  15. Garza would gut your farm. The Cubs paid a hefty price for him, they won't just give him away
  16. If the Mets intentionally kept him from vesting that option without a superior alternative, he would have filed a grievance and likely would have won.
  17. I still think there is a better than 50-50 shot that he walks. Someone is going to look at his season and his track record and make a play
  18. KRod and cash to the Brew Crew for 2 PTBNL
  19. Sox signed 2nd rounder Williams Jerez. But it looks like Jackie Bradley Jr. is heading back to school per Boras. Then again, it could be posturing
  20. How do the Guardians still have fans?
  21. Since May 23rd, the Guardians are 10 games under .500.
  22. That is what the UZR equalizes. And guess what, Peralta's is better. So, yeah, you're wrong again
  23. BTW, suns, enjoy your mediocrity. You are going to finish behind the White Sox in 3rd place this season with a record right around .500. Yeah Cleveland! .500 is awesome!! BTW, Cleveland was ranked as the 5th unhappiest city in the country. http://realestate.msn.com/slideshow.aspx?cp-documentid=18184152#6
