  1. Montero 2 for 3 with an RBI double in the nightcap. He's getting hot at the right time
  2. that would have been a run had that dumb f*** not jumped off the base
  3. That is a huge blown call, and a bonehead move by Crawford
  4. 53 pitches through 2.1IP. This is why Bedard is not effective or useful for Boston right now
  5. Remember something here, Weaver is a pitcher. Pitcher's are one pitch away from being done.
  6. holy hanging curveball batman.
  7. Lavarnway is built like a Nebraska defensive end
  8. Montero 3 for 5, a double, 2 homers, 6RBI today.
  9. Fielder hasnt ruled out being a full time DH, but he loves to play the field and will likely find a place that wants him as a 1b
  10. He's got 2 yrs to free agency and he's an outfielder. If he were a pitcher, I could understand taking a guaranteed deal since he'd be one arm injury away from the scrap heap. But a guy like Ells who is showing serious power should go yr to yr. And Boras is representing him, so he will go yr to yr. Chances are, the sox part ways with him after 2013. He'll turn 30 during 2014, and even though the power could be a big boon for him, speed first guys after they are 30 dont typically age well. Ells will get a 7 yr deal from someone, I just dont think it will be Theo again after he already has one in Crawford. Especially with Kalish brewing in the minors
  11. Well, Nova has been money of late. As has Hughes. Colon has been floundering a bit but he is better than Burnett and Freddy has been solid all yr. Burnett is the obvious choice. That being said, Nova has looked very solid since coming back from the minors, and the main reason is the development of his slider. He used to have a loopy slider in the minors that wasnt terribly useful. He was good enough to get by on his big curve, good change and hard FB. But after coming to the bigs, he didnt have a put away pitch. Now, that slider is something the hitters need to keep an eye out for and he is using it in strikeout situations. He'll always be more of a contact pitcher due to his heavy 2 seamer and his good location, but the slidepiece has given him a strikeout pitch he can use when in a jam.
  12. Right said Fred should return in a few days from his finger injury. We have a double header coming up, meaning that Burnett gets one more start regardless, but he is obviously the odd man out
  13. Hughes looks stellar tonight. Painting the corners, tight curve, ok velocity. He's looking like a playoff starter
  14. Lol, you are such a homer. So you'd say he's Moustakas? The guy who put up an OPS of 1.100 in AA a year younger than Middlebrooks? Lol. I like Middlebrooks, but he fits the Brandon Laird model (lots of power, lots of K's, minimal walks)
  15. Exactly. Ground rule mistake ended up costing us
  16. Theo's bread and butter has been trades and development. His shrewd resignings of guys he's developed has allowed the sox to absorb some signing mistakes
  17. Bursitis is painful. Typically a week is all you need. Could linger if you don't rest. If caused by a bone spur, then it could recur until shaved down
  18. Good Dublin. I'm of Irish descent, but am a Yankee fan. How is it in the motherland?
  19. I was working, but slow day in the ED allowed me to watch most of the games. Shields and Lester looked great. The sox never his Niemann, it seems, but I missed the triple play. Now you get Price vs Lackey on the same day we face Bruce Chen and throw Colon out there.
  20. Nova has now been blown up by the Royals twice. What I dont get is that Girardi saw he didnt have it, the Yanks gave him a lead again, only to see Nova almost give it away. Didnt make sense. Good to see Mo back to his old ways the last 2 nights. And the offense has been very solid against nubile pitching.
  21. Now in a flat footed tie with the sox and we're both 9 games ahead of Tampa and 11 games up on Anaheim for the WC. Playoffs are a formality for both teams, but I'd hope for the division.
  22. The sox got a lot of talent at the buzzer. I think Swihart will be the best player from that draft.
  23. sox signed Kokuk and Ramirez today. No news on the top 4, although Swihart will probably be your most expensive signee
