  1. Dont forget Bubba Jones and Justin James. We nabbed a bunch of high upside bats and added a lot of much needed power. Best athlete of the class- Cave Biggest power- Bird/Jones Best overall hitter- Bichette Best "now" pitcher- Montgomery Biggest project- Sharpe/Maher We got power, speed, arms, size, projectability, all you could want when you dont pick until the 50th spot or so.
  2. 11 baserunners in 5.2IP vs the Royals sucks. His recent track record doesnt help. The guy needs to go directly to the NL next season. His stuff is still superb, but his mental makeup is in the midget category
  3. Congrats to him. 2 HRs today and he joins an elite group. All around good guy
  4. I want to douse Burnett in pigs blood and drop him in the Atlantic
  5. Get the f***ing pen warm. This joker sucks the moosecock of royal Danish kings
  6. Good AJ for 4 innings. Bad AJ in inning #5. God he has burned all bridges this yr
  7. Last yr we focused up the middle with Culver, Gumbs, Williams, Tamarez, etc in the draft and the INTL area. This yr, we focus on pitching and corners with Jones, Bird, Duran, Bichette, Cote, Hebert, Camarena, Maher, et al. The 2010 draft is starting to look really good in the short season leagues and these kids have some serious potential impact from the 2011 draft. This is going to be a good collection of talent to inject into the system
  8. Yankees signed Maher and Hebert. I think they are done. Hell of a haul this draft. Lots of very young talent with lots of projectability. A good idea for a system so loaded
  9. 2-0 Yanks. Dumb play by Gardner with the bases loaded and Tex up.
  10. He reminds me of Brandon Laird from last yr.
  11. He's better than Crawford ever was and he has Boras representing him. You really think he's going to settle for something like that?
  12. His K/BB rate will limit his ability unless he improves on that. His power is solid, he can hit for average in the minors and I dont know much about his defense.
  13. And, the sox have a kid in the minors who they think can handle the big stage in CF. Theo has never been one to shy away from change, and if he thinks he could use that $20 mil per season elsewhere, then he will. Also, I am using the term $20 mil loosely. If Ellsbury hits 25HR, steals 50 bases, and hits over .300 for the next 2 seasons, he will get a lot more than $20 mil per season. Remember who represents him
  14. The problem is, you'll be resigning players every season for the next 2-3 yrs to $20 mil plus contracts. Look at this.... Youkilis' contract runs through 2012. He has a $13 mil option for 2013. He'll be 35 as a FA Lester's contract runs through 2013. He has a $14 mil option for 2014. He'll be 30 as a FA Pedroia's contract runs through 2014. He has an $11 million option for 2015. He'll be 32 as a FA Buchholz' contract runs through 2015. He has a $13 mil option for 2016 and a $13.5 mil option for 2017. He'll be 32 as a FA Crawford's contract runs through 2017. AdGon's runs through 2018. Youkilis likely wont be going anywhere for more money as a 35 yr old, but Lester, Pedroia, and Buchholz all have one more big contract ahead of them. And if they perform like they have over the last 1.5 seasons, they'll all get $20 mil per yr contracts. Lets assume the sox resign everyone and all players play to their capabilities and sign a market deal. By 2017, they will have Crawford, Lester, AdGon, Pedroia, Ellsbury, and Buchholz all over $20 million. That isnt the kind of flexibility that Theo seems to like.
  15. .270-.280 with 30HR potential. I didnt say the old broken down Crede towards the end of his career.
  16. If he plays out of his mind the next 2 seasons, what are the chances the sox have 3 offensive players making over $20 mil a season? Then you have to factor in Pedroia being an FA after 2015 and Lester being an FA after 2014. The sox team is young and talented, but Theo can put a roster together because he's been shrewd with his extensions. Once those extensions come due, the sox are either going to have to go into the Yankee stratosphere in terms of salary or make some hard decisions. I honestly think the sox signed Crawford with an eye towards Ells walking in 2 yrs and Kalish taking over in CF
  17. Ah, missed that, my bad
  18. Last 2 in play are Hebert and Maher. Camarena signed for $335K and looks to be a very strong sign as a lefty SP. Hebert is a big lefty with 90+velo and Maher is a very tall righty with a projectable frame who can hit low 90s already. Sounds like we're out on everyone else. But this has been a very solid draft, IMO
  19. For a team like Seattle who will be rebuilding, getting 2 yrs of high prices out of Ellsbury isnt really gonna work. Ells will have serious trade value if the sox shop him, but not to rebuilding clubs
  20. He took awhile to progress and his K/BB rates are alarming. Rolen isnt a good comp. Rolen has always had good patience in his hay day. I'd look more at a Joe Crede comp. 20+HRs, bad walk rates, average fluctuating in the .270 range.
  21. Looks like the yanks and camarena reached a deal
  22. Some of their problems will be solved internally. Lavarnway to DH possibly. Doubront/Weiland for 5th starter. They probably bring back Wake for insurance. My guess is they try to resign Paps and Ortiz, but if they walk, there are slim pickins keeping them under the lux tax threshold. Either you go big with Pujols or Fielder, or you stay internal.
  23. Wily Mo Pena cannot hit a breaking ball. Wakefield throws essentially all breaking balls. What made Wedge think that starting WMP was a good idea?
  24. Seems pretty fortuitous for the Yanks seeing as Garcia was being scratched
  25. Furbush looks like a promising young pitcher.
