  1. Floyd's peripherals have been solid even though his ERA has fluctuated. He'd be a solid pickup, but IIRC, he is set to make $7.5 mil next yr, which is right around where Oswalt is shooting for
  2. He's a minus defender who's career OPS as a corner OFer is .779 and is coming off 2 straight yrs at .730ish. He's an average OFer overall as evidenced by his WAR of right under 1. He's a body, that's about it
  3. He can oppose it all he wants. If Bobby V calls up the pen coach and asks him to warm, he's gonna warm
  4. I think the sox would be willing to go over the cap if he met his incentives. I dont think they will be willing to guarantee that they are over the cap by signing him.
  5. I actually think the sox will try to bring him back as a reliever so they can actually get something out of him in the final year of his contract
  6. BTW, anyone who thought King Felix was an option can quash that dream. The Yankees offered Montero, Betances, AND Banuelos and they said no.
  7. I advocated dealing for Floyd awhile ago. He'd be exactly what the sox need. A solid middle of the rotation starter who is durable. But I have a feeling the Pale Hose are looking for a return the sox arent capable of giving just yet
  8. It does count proactively. If you sign an extension in season, then the extension doesnt count.
  9. Bard is an interesting enigma. He has an ace 1-2 punch and can probably develop his change to be good. But he isnt a college reliever they transitioned to the pen. He's a college starter who completely imploded as a starter in the minors. So much so that they forced him to throw out of the stretch and shortened his arsenal so he didnt have to focus on multiple innings, multiple offerings and a full delivery. He's mastered the shortened approach, but what happens if he falls apart again when you stretch him out? We'll find out. He could go anywhere from complete and total bust to ace level production. But overall, I think he ends up akin to Ogando did last yr. Dominant at the start, falls off a cliff as the yr goes on and will be a pen arm come late regular season or postseason
  10. Yes, I did. The guy was a troll
  11. They may be trying to negotiate Oswalt down to $6 mil
  12. DiceK has always been a toss up. Now, he's recovering from reconstructive elbow surgery and you're expecting him to be consistently good ahead of schedule? Starters typically need 18 months or so to get back to normal from TJS. And DiceK's normal isnt great to begin with. I'd leave him out of all depth discussions and if he ends up contributing, consider it a bonus
  13. Oswalt is an intriguing guy. His FB velo slipped a bit last yr, but when he was healthy, he still got it up in the 93-94 range. If he's healthy and he can hold velo, then he's a steal. But he's small framed, 34 yrs old, and coming off back issues. It's a risk that could bite you in the ass, but on a 1 yr deal, it isnt a bad idea
  14. I am not sure how he can make that inference. The guy has mashed at every level. He hit 32 homers and OPS'd over .800 again even though his OBP isnt good. This winter, he's dominated and started showing a little more patience. The guy has been nothing but a masher. He can also play the corners adequately. He isnt going to be a .300AVG, .400OBP guy. He is likely more a .250AVG 25+HR guy, which would be great at DH compared to the s*** we had last yr from Posada
  15. K Law you mean? Cause if you are quoting Keith Law, then you can write this guy's ticket to Cooperstown
  16. IIRC, they traded Navarro for Aviles
  17. I doubt the phillies deal hamels in a yr they are trying to win a title.
  18. I see I have a fan, interesting
  19. You have to see what you have in Vazquez before long. The guy can outright mash
  20. He's a liability due to his .288OBP, his near 5:1 K:BB ratio and his abysmal defense. His only redeeming offensive quality is his SLG
  21. He does. It might be time to see how he does in the show
  22. They'll trade/sign another SS who'll put up good OBP numbers if nothing else
  23. The offense is still dangerous, but you have a hole in RF, a liability at C, an injury riddled 3b, and a LFer coming off wrist surgery who'll miss the early part of the season. You don't want to poke another hole in the offense if you don't have to.
