  1. Padilla's teammates hate him. He's an ******* and he intentionally hits other batters causing his players to get smoked. He'd be a great fit on the sox, especially with how harmonious their season ended
  2. RF in Fenway for this lumbering brute? Lets be real. He's either a C or a 1b, thats about it.
  3. If they can get Edwin Jackson on a 1 yr deal they better do it. Yes, it closes the spot for a guy like Hughes, but it certainly sures up the spot with dependable #3 level production. Anything more than a 1 yr deal is a bad idea.
  4. I wouldnt be surprised if he does that. Jackson had a good yr, but is coming off a pretty rocky track record. If he can put up another big season, he'd be a pretty attractive option next offseason.
  5. I see. It doesnt make any sense, he's playing in one of the biggest markets in America, and he thrived
  6. I think you might be mistaken. He has been better in the playoffs than he has in his regular season history. 5 starts 2-1 3.48ERA 1.29WHIP 29K in 31IP. The Yankees backed off because Theo wanted Montero and Banuelos.
  7. He has craniosynestosis.
  8. Maholm is a good move for the Cubs. He shouldnt be expensive, and if he shows he can recover from his shoulder strain, then he'll be valuable on the open market come the deadline
  9. Garza is a good pitcher and would fit into most AL rotations as a #2 or a #3. Theo is asking for an ace's ransom and he'll likely get it
  10. I think Edgar should get in too, but the voters value guys who can play D, even if they do it poorly. Posada did play the hardest defensive position to play and was the key signal caller for 4 championships. It's not equivalent
  11. You have to look at the position LS. At his position, he was a top 10 offensive catcher of all time. That is indisputable
  12. His arm is shot. His stuff has diminished. He is going to need to undergo a metamorphosis to be effective. But, it's a good depth signing and if he does figure it out, he could be well worth the cost
  13. Barnes isnt seeing AAA this yr, UN. He's got great stuff, but will need some time to go through the system.
  14. which is why I think Posada eventually gets in over time. The older voters phase out, the newer guys phase in and the newer metrics will be used.
  15. Nowadays, the advanced metrics are important and compared to their times, Posada is among the best in terms of offensive production. You could make a case that he was top 7 or 8 offensive catchers of all time
  16. The sox are good enough to make the playoffs and if things go right, they could win the WS.
  17. Youk's value is overblown right now on this site. He's damaged goods until proven otherwise. If you want to get equal value for him, he needs to have a healthy season that is in line with his career norms.
  18. If your problem is pitching, you dont throw a rookie catcher who isnt known for his defense behind the dish. You work on his defense and game calling and hope he can cut it as a backup C/DH next season. There is no coincidence that the Yankee staff got a lot better with the introduction of Martin.
  19. used to be, not worth it IMO
  20. SCM, sorry, I was on an overnight and couldnt respond fully. Mike Piazza isnt a Hall of Famer yet because he isnt eligible yet. He'll be a first ballot HOFer for sure. There are 16 former catchers in the HOF. There is only one HOF level catcher way above Posada's league offensively as determined by OPS+ and that's Piazza. Look at this... Posada 121 Campanella 124 Fisk 117 Carter 115 Ivan Rodriguez 110 Bench 126 Berra 125 Not too shabby. How about your standard accumulation metrics. Posada's career line was .273/.374/.474, OPS of .848. 1664H, 275HR, 1065RBI, 900R Bench .267/.342/.476, OPS of .818, 2048H 389HR 1376RBI 1091R Berra .285/.348/.482, OPS of .830, 2150H 358HR 1430RBI 1175R Bresnahan .279/.386/.377, OPS of .763, 1252H 26HR 530RBI 682R Campanella .276/.360/.500, OPS of .860, 1161H 242HR 856RBI 627R Carter .262/.335/.439, OPS of .774, 2092H 324HR 1225RBI 1025R Cochrane .320/.419/.478, OPS of .897, 1652H 119HR 832RBI 1041R Dickey .313/.382/.486, OPS of .868, 1969H 202HR 1209RBI 930R Ewing .303/.351/.456, OPS of .807, 1129H 71HR 883RBI 1129R Ferrell .281/.378/.363, OPS of .741, 1692H 28HR 734RBI 687R Fisk .269/.341/.457, OPS of .798, 2356H 376HR 1330RBI 1276R Hartnett .297/.370/.489, OPS of .859, 1912H 236HR 1179RBI 867R Lombardi .306/.358/.460, OPS of .818, 1792H 190HR 990RBI 601R Schalk- embarrassing selection, OPS career of .656 There are 3 Negro League catchers in the hall without numbers. Looking at the list, Posada's OPS is higher than all of them aside from Harnett, Dickey, Campanella and Cochrane's. And aside from Cochrane, he is close to all of them. His OPS+ is in the same ballpark or higher than all of them aside from soon to be HOFer, Piazza. Posada would be 5th on this list (6th behind Piazza) in HRs as well. There is no doubt that from a numbers standpoint and postseason standpoint, he's a HOFer. It depends on whether they value the fact that he wasnt the best player at his position aside from one season (2007) and the fact that he was never a middle of the order hitter on this team.
  21. Better OPS than carter and Fisk, 4 titles, etc etc. the guy has the numbers at the right position to be considered. I think he eventually gets in
  22. Borderline HOFer and he retires wearing only one uniform. Thanks Jorge
