  1. Bill Hall signed with the Yankees. Canyon of heroes, here we come! /sarcasm
  2. He's playing chicken IMO. The only thing he isnt realizing is that the teams he's playing with dont absolutely need him. It's career suicide to come to Boston. Even if he puts up a respectable 4.20ERA, he's effectively going to significantly cut into his future contract. Health will be regardless of locale, seeing as being injured in Boston will have the same effect on him if he is injured in StL. But putting up a 3.20ERA in StL could see a $10+ million gain in future contact compared to a 4.20ERA in Boston
  3. I completely disregarded the DH angle. He could very well benefit from not having to take the field, although from personal experience, not all people adapt well to going from playing the field every day to DHing every day
  4. I'd rather have Damon to be honest with you. He's more of a pest and still has his legs.
  5. I thought so too, but he only OPS'd a dismal .747 vs righties in 2011. I honestly think this is more of a "why not" move. If he pans out, great. If he doesnt, then he shouldnt cost much and the position he'd be occupying isnt tough to find a replacement.
  6. SO the Yankees are in serious talks with Raul Ibanez. Sounds like he's gonna take peanuts to be the lefty part of a platoon at DH. Color me skeptical. The guy really started losing his power in 2010. In 2011, he hit 20HRs, but he lost his patience and continued his high K rate while playing in a hitter's paradise. Also, his OPS vs righties wasnt great either. This sounds like a patch plan with the Yankees hoping he's got one more productive season under his belt. If he doesnt, then they can go with the internal candidates
  7. Also UN, the move to the pen sounds like it may be permanent
  8. User, being lazy is worst of all. Having talent and not working is bad for an athlete
  9. Other than an otherworldly season, the jays are finishing 4th
  10. Aaron Cook is a viable option, but his velo has to come back. Prior to his injury, he was a low 90s guy capable of running it up there as high as 94-95mph. Now, he cannot touch 90. If the velo doesnt come back, he's done. He relied on below average secondary offerings and a dynamite sinker. Without the velo, his sinker isnt as lethal and his secondary options arent strong enough to stand alone
  11. The point is, the sox never had an interest in exercising the option. If they let him go for free, they'd have had to pay $1.5 million. By dealing him, they got a guy who is on a non-guaranteed contract. Effectively, they got a shot in the dark player who could be cut for free without having to pay an outgoing player $1.5 mil. If the intention was to ditch Scutaro, then this was a smart way of doing it. Not sure why they would have wanted to just ditch the guy, though, he had been pretty productive
  12. It just baffles me that people can sit back and ding CC for the fact that he eats innings and is durable. How is that a bad thing? Would it have been better if he missed a yr and a half due to TJS so he could stay fresh? It's just a stupid argument
  13. Everyone continues to wait for the year that CC goes on the DL. He's made 30 or more starts in 10 of his 11 seasons, and in the other season he still threw 192.2IP. He's the definition of durable. Marking him down because you think he will eventually hit the DL is assinine
  14. You're such a homer, lol
  15. If you are talking at their cost and for the next 7 seasons, then yeah, Lester's the better bet. I am talking about 2012 here
  16. and 2 outs PER OUTING is huge too. That's 1 less reliever the Yankees need to use PER GAME
  17. http://www.fangraphs.com/statss.aspx?playerid=4930&position=P http://www.fangraphs.com/statss.aspx?playerid=404&position=P
  18. It's not like CC doesnt K anyone. You really think the extra K per 9 is worth 30 innings per season? That's just stupid
  19. Also, FIP averaged over the last 3 yrs shows CC has a 0.10 advantage. Also, his WAR is almost 1 win per season better. It's a decided advantage. I cannot believe that a Red Sox fan is discounting innings pitched. LOLOLOL. If Lester threw 230IP last yr, you'd have had a playoff team
  20. Outside of IP? Have you watched ANYTHING over the past 2 yrs? 30+IP per season is HUGE
  21. 100 extra innings over 3 seasons, a better WHIP, a better walk rate. But yeah, they're the same, of course.
  22. That's naive
  23. He's 28, he's in his prime. And no, he isnt "right around the same league", he's in the class below. I showed you the numbers, 30+ innings PER YEAR more than Lester with a better WHIP and lower walk rate. Cmon man, he's close, but not in the same league. An ace must give you innings, Lester does that, but not the way CC does
