  1. Talk about a shock. Carlos Correa with the 1st pick. Appel is moving down...
  2. This was the first time since 1918 that any big league pitcher walked 6 and hit 2 or more batters in 2 innings or less
  3. Fred, we have been over this. Hansen never had big league success. He was rushed through the minors and remained in relief. Bard has had big league success, so the cases are incredibly dissimilar
  4. Hanley was 23 yrs old when he was dealt to the Marlins. His debut season at age 23, he hit 17 homers . Starlin is 22 this season, and already has 2 full seasons under his belt and is on pace for 12-15 homers this yr.
  5. I think the sox could make a huge splash at the deadline for Starlin Castro. Iglesias, Barnes, and Lavarnway would allow them to solidify their SS position for yrs to come with a guy who reminds me so much of Hanley Ramirez it isnt even funny
  6. It's time to bring up DiceK. He has now had two solid starts in a row with AAA and there is only so much a big leaguer can do in the minors anyway, since there is no big crowd and less pressure. He needs to come up and supplant Bard.
  7. The Joba comment just isnt accurate. Joba came through the system as a starter. He went in guns blazing as a reliever in 07. He started out relieving in 08, then got converted mid-season to a starter where he was lights out. 43K's in 35IP, only 10 walks and a WHIP around 1.1. Then he hurt his arm in Texas. Since that time, he has lost the electricity on the fastball. He was throwing 96mph on average when he started. The following yr, he was throwing low 90s and was a 5 inning pitcher who was getting shelled.
  8. SFF, if Ellsbury proves he can replicate last season, then you pay him the money. A perennial 30-30 guy with the chops to hit .320 and bring 40-70+ steals to the game is rare. I doubt he can return to that level of prominence, though, and his hard nosed style keeps getting him hurt. But if he can play a full yr next season and put up the same line as 2011, you try to keep him around
  9. Nope Brennan, just 2 in the loss column. Phil Hughes is having a frickin resurgence. After his last start where he was knocked around, I was interested to see how he'd respond, and boy did he ever. CG with 8K's??!?! Over his last 6 starts, his line has been solid. 40IP 39H 16ER 9BB 34K 1.20WHIP 3.60ERA even with the ass whoopin he received in Anaheim. He is currently slotting in as our #4 with Nova as our #5. Kuroda also pitched very well yesterday. The pitching is rounding into shape. Now if only we could hit maybe .260 with RISP, we'd be fine
  10. I'd just drill him for the rest of the game. The higher the better.
  11. I know that Yankee prospects have specific things they need to accomplish to be promoted in-season. Hence why Sanchez is repeating a level he hit well at and Austin is still in A
  12. Davidson called that a strike? That pitch to Ibanez nearly took his jersey off at the letters
  13. It's so f***ing easy to hit a fly ball if you want to. You remove your trigger, widen the stance and just shoot the ball to the outfield the other way. It's easy to do.
  14. I am not sure what they are waiting on. They will gain more by struggling in AA than they will by having their way with A+ ball
  15. When I played in college, you ran if you couldnt hit to a situation. You pop out like Cano did, and you're running at 10p after a 9 inning game, even if you went 3 for 4. We preached situational baseball and we were a good team.
  16. This team is a f***ing joke. How the mother f*** can you suck so f***ing bad in clutch spots. Valverde cannot hit the ocean if he was standing on the dock and Cano chases an inside pitch and pops out when all he needed to f***ING DO WAS HIT THE BALL INTO THE OF!!! This is a f***ing joke. I'd bench Cano, ARod, Granderson and any f***ing hitter who cannot hit to the situation. Its a joke. You cannot fly the f*** out with a runner on 3rd and less than 2 outs? Sit down the next game. You cannot move a runner? Down for the next game. I am sick of waiting for the 3 run homer. This team is much better than they are performing
  17. He's untouchable for me like Barnes is for you. He is a 21 yr old lefty with 3 plus pitches who throws mid 90s. His change and curve are things of beauty. His WHIP being 1.3 and higher this past yr is mostly due to a jump in velocity. He has lost some command by his velo gain.
  18. ARod has to get the ball into the air here. Cmon you fraud
  19. Thanks. They'll be 16 months apart, so I will certainly be busy
  20. He would, which is why you pair the Soriano contract and you get out from under that terrible decision by Jim Hendry.
  21. Bob Davidson needs to be fired. Outright, he is awful.
  22. The Cubs have no reason to take on Youkilis. Theo has an opportunity to do something he wanted to do in Boston. Blow it all up. When he sticks to his roots, he can actually build a team. When he gets a blank check, he gets too big for his britches and hamstrings a team. If I were him, I'd also deal Castro before the guy gets destroyed by his off the field activities and pair him with Soriano's contract while also getting some big time prospects.
  23. September is going to be great. Thing is, this October will not be about baseball for me. Baby #2 is coming in October
