  1. Kalish is really your only big time player there capable of doing things right now
  2. Right now, Pods and Nava have replaced Crawford and Ellsbury rather well. You have gotten nearly nothing out of RF since Sweeney got concussed, so Ross may be a help. I am not saying they will continue that, but you have actually gotten good production out of them. Your problem is that Pedroia is hurt, Youkilis is awful, AdGon cannot hit, and Aviles has fallen off a rock
  3. It is, but the Yankees and Rays are winning with pitching and that leads to less slumps and more runs of sustained dominance. You take a look at the teams who are realistically going to be in the playoffs, and the only team without reliable pitching is the Rangers. Holland and Feliz on the DL, Darvish pitching well, Oswalt trying to pitch in the AL, Harrison doing well, etc. The other teams in the running (CWS, ANA, NYY, TB, DET) all have solid pitching. That means falling behind and catching up is going to be a lot harder to do
  4. The sox offense is boom or bust because they have been relying on guys who go on runs then disappear, ie replacement level players. Plus, the middle of the order sans Ortiz have been absolutely terrible. Things will not resolve spontaneously even when Ellsbury and Crawford come back. They need AdGon and Youk to play like AdGon and Youk
  5. And the road doesnt get easier. You get Buerhle and Nolasco, two quality starters capable of throwing QS after QS up there. And in the Cubbies series, you get Samardzija and Dempster, two of their better pitchers as well. At least you miss Garza. The offense needs to explode, cause you are now through your 2 best pitchers
  6. Sox got handled tonight and Beckett couldnt deliver, even though he was lights out once the game was out of hand a bit. You give up 4 runs against a mediocre team, you should win. But they faced an ace and he shut them down. It seems like the sox are playing just bad enough to lose. The offense has been shut down for the last 8 games or so. Only 25 runs in that time, good for a 3.1 runs per game. You cannot do that and expect to win
  7. Nova was dominant again tonight. My guess is he is done. 7IP 5H 0ER 1BB 6K. Just toying with the Braves. He dictated the pace, controlled all his pitches and made a pretty good team look completely overmatched. This was the Yankees 10th consecutive Quality Start. Pretty frickin awesome right there
  8. Also, it is blatantly obvious that the sox are shopping Youks hard, otherwise, you cannot justify sitting WMB right now
  9. His pitch selection sucks right now. Once he gets comfortable in his own skin again, he'll start hitting
  10. Cano gives us a 1-0 lead, nice!
  11. Managers make their money by making good lineups, smart substitutions and sticking up for their players. They can also change the momentum by going ballistic. The sox have lost 6 of 7 and are in danger of being sellers at the deadline. He should try everything in his arsenal to get he team moving
  12. I know exactly why Bradley is still with Salem. They are 3 games out of 1st and if you clinch the first half top spot, you get a playoff spot. The Sox do need to appease their partners and fan bases. My guess is that when the first half is either clinched or apparent they wont win it, Bradley will move on to AA
  13. Miami is a good team and you are getting Johnson and Buerhle to start the series. You should pound the Cubbies, but you are underestimating the fish
  14. Lester has become a whiny pussbag. Anyone watching the post game?
  15. Walk off!!!!!! Yankees win!!
  16. I knew Reddick was playing well, but had no idea Lowrie was that good. Reddick: .870OPS with 14HR and 30RBI Lowrie: .920OPS with 12HR and 28RBI Reddick would be leading the sox in HR right now, while Lowrie would be second. Lowrie would be 2nd in OPS while Reddick would be 3rd behind Ortiz and Salty. I am shocked that these guys are hitting as well as they are. And when you look at their positions on the sox, they could be so much more. Aviles has a ton of RBI, but has been overall poor defensively and offensively. While Lowrie would probably have turned those into more RBIs and has nearly 100 points on Aviles in OBP. Reddick, OTOH, has 14 more HRs than Sweeney and could have been a rock in RF where the sox have been playing Gonzalez. At the time, the trades were understandable, even downright good for the sox. But they are blowing up in their faces rather big time 60 games in
  17. The sox are in trouble. Big, big trouble. The offense is good, although not to the level they need to bludgeon teams into submission. AdGon is a singles hitter, Youkilis cannot hit and Pedroia can barely swing the bat. You have Ells and Crawford out for probably another month as well. And the last shoe to drop is the replacement level guys finally playing like replacement level guys. Nava has caught fire again, but Sweeney is dead weight right now and you finally cut bait on Marlon Byrd, who was dreadful. Throw in the fact that your aces havent been aces and you have a recipe for a humongous disaster. You have the Yankees playing well, the Rays staying good and the AL Central and West all of a sudden developing 2 teams capable of winning their division and the wild card. They have to hold out until their big guys come back, but you effectively then need to assume they'd come back and play like a house afire when they do. Not sure that happens.
  18. You like to pick the stats that suit you my friend. Lies, damn lies, and statistics! Bard walked 6 batters in those two 5.1IP starts while also allowing 10 hits and only striking out 6. That sucks. And, when you look at all his starts, he's allowed under 8 baserunners only twice. Couple that with the fact that he has gone through 6 complete only 4 times, you have a guy who puts runners on base and gets hit. THe other shoe was ready to drop and boy did it
  19. CC layed an egg tonight, although he kept us in the game somewhat and gave us depth. The 5th inning was inexcuseable. I am sorry, you have your 4 and 5 hitters up with the bags packed and not being able to make contact is abysmal. ARod worked Price, I'll give him that, but the K right there effectively ended the game
  20. From the sounds of it, the Yankees are close to signing Frare, Aune, OBrien and most of their top 10 rounders. Hensley says he wants to sign quickly as well. Rhymes says he's going to school and Mesa is looking for a first round bonus, so I'd say those two are incredibly unlikely to sign at this point
  21. AdGon needs a couple days off for mental health. The Yankees did it with Teixeira and blamed it on a cold. After those two days off, he's hitting .333 with 5 bombs in 14 games.
  22. Matusz has been on a roll since dominating you guys. He's put up 3 quality starts striking out 21 in 19.1IP. The guy has good stuff
  23. Prior had good velo for us last yr as well, until his tightly wound body went undone. It is amazing that he has gone through so many surgeries and still can run it up there over 90mph. The guy is a tough SOB. I hope he makes it back to the bigs
