Like I said in the draft section, he's a safe player. I dont think he is a Pedroia offensively as he really doesnt have power. He's more a Mike Aviles ceiling player with Punto's glove, which is a good above average big league ceiling for a premium position. It's not one of those humongous ceiling players with a long way to go. His floor is a big league utility guy, his ceiling is as a perennial starting SS. Most draftees floors are minor league flunkies -
let me just say that I am pretty psyched for the draft tomorrow, although my little girl has a Dr appointment in the early afternoon, I will probably only be around for the first 90 mins or so

3 college juniors. Marrero was considered a mid 1st rounder, I dont think Johnson was expected to go in the first. I think Light has closer upside and isnt a bad pick, but maybe one you make later in the draft. Overall, I think the sox are playing it really, really safe right now with guys who wont kill you signability wise. My guess is they take a few signability picks later on and the money they might save or at least hold with their top 3 picks might go a long way to the stability of the draft

1. Ty Hensley- Edmond Santa Fe HS, OK- Tall, thick righty capable of running it up to 96mph. Already has a plus 12-6 hammer with a plus potential changeup. He's coming into the right farm in terms of the development of pitchers and this kid sounds like a Phil Hughes clone coming out of HS. Hopefully the farm can groom him as well as we did Hughes and the big league club doesnt f*** him up as much as we did Hughes. Regardless, I am very happy with this pick

He's a crafty lefty who shouldnt be a tough sign for under slot. They are definitely reaching a bit here. Marrero was expected to go where he did, so he should get slot. I am guessing they are going to nab someone in the comp around for something big...

Hensley looks like a solid pick. McCullers looks like he wants big, big money. This kid should be signable. 6'5" 200lbs, throws low to mid 90s, topping out at 96 and throws a plus 12-6 curve. Change has plus potential. Top of the rotation ceiling. Gets a lot of comps to Phil Hughes when he was drafted

Thing is, Josh Bell was drafted last yr. This yr's rules make it harder to sign a guy for $3 mil at the back end of the draft
