  1. A homer is an unrealistic fan. An All Star game is theoretically supposed to have the best players at their position for that season playing against each other. There is zero chance that you'd find any fan outside of Boston who would say that Pedroia fits that bill this season. He just doesnt
  2. The sox are trying to buyout Bobby Jenks and end their association with him
  3. Joba is throwing bullpens already. He should be back some time in July or early August
  4. The sox are waiting for the Youk run to occur. The 2-3 week stretch where he hits 6-8HR's, has 20RBI and hits .350 with an OBP over .450. Once he runs across that run and looks good again, he's being traded. Until then, it's a lose-lose
  5. Ibanez has been serviceable, but I am waiting for the cliff jump to occur.
  6. AA is where a lot of the hotter prospects reside, also, AA is the level where he will start to face professional hitters capable of working the count. He needs to be challenged, cause right now, he isnt being
  7. We've now added 6 more lefty pitchers to the mix and popped our first signability case in Frare. Frare is a LHP from HS in Montana. 6'1" 195 capable of throwing the ball in the low 90s, topping out at 94 already with a strong arsenal for a HSer. Coming from the great white north, he didnt get as much exposure, but he is already in the fold. From the sounds of it, we have saved a boat load of cash on our first 10 round selections thus far and might have something in store for a few more signability selections
  8. Kuroda pitched a la CC the night before. Gritty veteran who didnt have his best stuff but navigated through a good team's lineup to limit damage. Also, Cody Eppley is turning into a useful reliever. He isnt dominant, he doesnt even have great location, but his sinker has allowed him to have a 2.5GO/AO and has kept the ball from being lifted in the air. I think he is settling in as a good middle innings guy who, once our pen settles in, will likely become a RH specialist to tag team with Rapada who is the lefty specialist
  9. If you arent winning, you might as well get some experience for the next wave of players. The problem is, Lavarnway wouldnt get work since Salty is playing well and Iglesias is injured
  10. Even if it helped you more
  11. I have a proposition for sox fans here... Lets say the sox are out of it by the deadline. The sox flounder around .500 while they are 12 back of the Yankees and are really not showing much life at all. Assume they are sellers and David Ortiz is your best trade chip. Would you deal Ortiz to the Yankees if the Yankees offered the best package? I am not saying I want Ortiz on my team, just want to see who would and who wouldnt.
  12. He's been on a little run of mediocrity in June, allowing 10ER in 21IP, but he has given them 7 innings per start in all 3 starts. When he catches his stride again, he will dominate. I bet he wins 20 again.
  13. The QS streak was snapped, but CC kept them in the game on a night when he didnt have his best stuff. Our offense roared back against their pen and we took another one. Go for the sweep tonight with Kuroda vs Hudson, should be a good matchup. This team is rollin!
  14. He's been Joba'd. I'd shut him down, MRI the shoulder and see what happens. While he is still throwing hard, he isnt throwing where he should and something is wrong. Maybe it is mechanical or physicial or mental. But a break might help all 3
  15. I am thinking this is the offensive correction and this is why the sox are in a tailspin. Over the last 8 games, they have scored 25 runs, which is abysmal. You have another 2-4 weeks on Ells and maybe Crawford. You have another 1-2 weeks on Ross. My guess is the correction continues until something changes, and tonight wont get any better going against Buerhle
  16. btw Bard converted back to relief. See his thread for an update
  17. The sox need to play .604 ball from here on out to win 90 games this yr
  18. DANIEL BARD CONVERTED BACK TO RELIEF His first start in Pawtucket went horribly. He allowed 3 runs in the first inning and was pulled. He returned tonight, and threw 1 inning where he allowed 1ER on 1 walk, 1 hit and 2K's.
  19. Evil, you have to also look at the offense actually correcting. There is no earthly way the sox offense should be putting up the runs they are when really only two guys are overachieving or achieving what they should. You have Ellsbury and Crawford hurt. You have AdGon and Youkilis underperforming in a big way. You have Pedroia underperforming. You have Aviles playing like s***. The only guys actually playing well are Salty and Ortiz. WMB has started off well, but he has even tailed off of late. You assume Ells and Crawford arent coming back for another 2-4 weeks. My guess is the offense is coming back to earth and with it go the sox losses.
  20. I never said the Yankees would throw to a 2.30ERA. Just that they were due for a correction from the s*** they were throwing. Also, Buchholz is an unknown due to injury and Lester has been this mediocre since the All Star break. Look it up Their best run was 10-3. They did not go 13-3 The Yankees are still not hitting with RISP. They are just hitting enough homers with runners on 1st to win games. If we go by that philosophy then the Yankees are due to start hitting in a big way. I doubt it happens, to be totally honest. Also, the whole straightened out thing may happen, but you need a lot of dominoes to fall correctly. If they dont, they the slump continues. To be honest with you, I think the sox do make a little run here. Maybe a 7-3 run, get over .500 and start pulling you back in.
