  1. You are also facing their best pitcher in Parker. That was a HELL of a deal for them, trading Cahill to Arizona and getting this kid.
  2. Doubront has been serviceable this yr with solid peripherals. He has the look of a kid with solid potential. But he has hit the rookie wall, something all kids eventually hit in the bigs. The question will be, can he fight through it, or does he turn into a reliever for the rest of this yr, then move back into the rotation from here.
  3. there's the first long ball. Seriously Girardi, are we watching the same f***ing game? Garcia has been a batting practice machine.
  4. Freddy longball Garcia has been getting shelled, but everything is at a fielder. We just need two more innings, then we can piece it together, but f*** I am worried. Everything is hitting the meat of the bat
  5. Today is INTL signee day and the new rules specify that you cannot spend over $2.9 mil total or it counts towards your draft bonus cap. The Yankees got busy right away. They started the day with Yancarlos Baez. http://dplbaseball.com/featured-post/the-new-york-yankees-ink-yancarlos-baez/. He signed for $650K. He is a switch hitting SS with a solid appearing glove, a quick bat and a solid frame. They then moved on to Luis Torrens, the #2 ranked INTL prospect, whom they signed for $1.3 million. He's a right handed hitting catcher with power projection and some good raw tools behind the dish. They love his bat and think it will carry to the bigs They finished the day with the #4 rated INTL prospect in Alexander Palma, a powerful RFer from Venezuela who they signed for $800K. Big day for the Yankee signees. Two of the three are considered to be hit first players which should help them move through the system. The SS, Baez, sounds like he can stick at SS, which is something that is rare to see at SS
  6. That may be the reason they move him, but it wont be because he is an injury waiting to happen. They arent moving him at the deadline. They've gotten by with smoke and mirrors in CF this yr and they need a stabilizing force out there. He might get moved in the offseason, but my assumption is they hang onto him since Bradley wont be ready until 2014, IMO
  7. It seems the prospect-nicks are ushering him out as a guy made of glass to usher in Jackie Bradley Jr. Bradley's best year will not come close to what Ells did last yr
  8. GET HIM THE f*** OUT OF THE GAME, EVERYTHING IS HIT HARD!!
  9. In 2008, 2009, and 2011, Ellsbury played 145, 153, and 158 games respectively. He played only 18 games in 2010 and 7 games thus far this season. I keep hearing that he is made of glass. Guys, if Cal Ripken took a knee to the ribs from Beltre back around the turn of the century, the streak would have ended. If Hank Aaron had a player land on his shoulder and it subluxed, he'd have missed a few months. He's not made of glass. He goes all out and freak s*** has happened to him, twice. JD Drew was made of glass. This kid was just in the wrong place at the wrong time twice
  10. He has to break two levels that havent been broken to this point. The DH and the PED users. The day Big Mac and Edgar Martinez are in the hall is the day Ortiz has a shot. Until then, he is one of the best one dimensional players of all time
  11. If Ellsbury goes all Youkilis on you, then he gets moved. If he comes back up and is the 30-30 guy with a .320 average again, you dont move him. No matter how good Bradley becomes, he will never reach Ellsbury's level from last yr
  12. Freddy Garcia gives up two near miss flyouts and a deflected line drive in his first inning. Last yr he was all about the luck, I hope it continues, but he better have a short f***ing leash
  13. Offenses Hughes has faced White Sox- 7th in MLB runs scored Cleveland- 13th in MLB in runs scored Atlanta- 9th in MLB in runs scored Washington- 23rd in MLB in runs scored Mets- 8th in MLB in runs scored Detroit- 12th in MLB in runs scored Angels- 10th in MLB in runs scored Seattle- 22nd in MLB in runs scored Royals- 25th in MLB in runs scored He's faced 3 bad offenses and the other 8 have been above the mean. He hasnt faced a top 5 team, but he did just dominate the #7 team in the bigs. Not too bad. And for those Morales lovers out there, his 3 starts were vs the 29th, 28th, and 22nd offenses in baseball. Also, a 3.34ERA and 1.15WHIP is an ace level performance. It's the same WHIP as Josh Beckett and woud put him right behind King Felix in ERA if he did it for the whole yr. BTW, taking into account the whole yr, Hughes is 11th int he AL in K/9IP and 4th in K/BB. The fact remains, he sucked hard in his first month and since then, he's been pitching at an ace level. There really isnt much doubt about that, even with his two sucko performances over that 11 game stretch
  14. Morales has made 3 starts and hasn't started since 2009. Bringing him up in this thread is completely asinine
  15. Well, the season apparently isnt over. Oh darn
  16. This is for Brennan. I should do what my dad would do and make me look something up when I sounded like an idiot, but I am a kinder, gentler man
  17. He's pitching Figgins like he's Bonds circa 2001
  18. Yeah, facing Weaver would be rough, especially in LA
  19. Chone Figgins again? I have a good feeling for some reason. Maybe he's channelling his 2008 Chone Figgins
