  1. .320/.419/.545 for a career. He is a sure fire Hall of Famer
  2. Not too confident about game 1
  3. They're all in it for themselves. This is exactly why they are self destructing. 25 guys pulling in 25 different directions gets you stuck in the middle, which is exactly where the sox are.
  4. No, Thunder, people would rather watch the pats at their own houses than go to the Fens and watch the sox. Plus, the Pats will steal all the press and effectively the sox will go from a bungling house of losers to the forgotten. Good or bad press generates buzz and still keeps the masses flocking to the park. Being forgotten would be the worst thing that could happen to the front office. Heads will roll if the meaningless sell out streak goes by the wayside on some balmy day in mid September
  5. The yr of the injury continues. Mason Williams out for the yr following labrum surgery
  6. I am guessing you're pretty young since that is a very naive way to look at it. The L column effectively is what you can control. If you are behind a team by 5 in the L column, that means you need that team to lose 5 times no matter what you do to catch them.
  7. And Thunder, they will be 5 out in the L column for a playoff spot
  8. You cannot fault Bobby V? Really? He allowed the worst possible matchup to take place in the 9th inning with the winning run on base.
  9. Wow, Aceves' ERA when he comes in during the 8th is over 10. Bobby, you might want to look at your own stats
  10. Mauer vs a righty or Morneau vs the lefty. Morneau sucks balls vs lefties.
  11. Once the runners moved up, the smart move was to walk Mauer. I was saying it before as well, so it isnt revisionist.
  12. You have to go to Breslow vs Morneau. Morneau is OPSing .565 vs lefties.
  13. you gotta walk Mauer here and go after Morneau
  14. This Ciriaco kid has certainly secured his roster spot for 2013
  15. Mortensen is getting by with that devastating changeup. He has a role and as long as he can locate his fastball down and throw the change down and out of the zone, he'll be effective. If he starts elevating, he'll be meat
  16. Getting called on it isnt my issue. It is the way you are calling me on it without actually throwing anything of substance out there. Which continues to this day
  17. They dealt away detritus in Qualls and got the Pirates detritus in McGehee. He fits the RH portion of a platoon at 3b for now. He was a highly effective player before 2011 but fell off the map in Pittsburgh. He's only 29, so it isnt age. If they can pull him back to close to that prior level, then this is a steal. If they cannot, then he'll be DFAd by September
  18. Yankees now in the Dempster sweeps. I do not want him nor do we need him. We need a f***ing bat!
  19. I am basing it on the last time I was on the site, which was probably 2-3 years ago.
  20. I know a lot of sox fans harbor some resentment towards Theo, but you have to respect what he is doing in Chicago. He took over a bear of a team with a bunch of players past their prime or just not good occupying a lot of their roster. But he has now made 2 deals that will stand out for them in the long term. The first is the re-acquisition of Anthony Rizzo. They dealt hard throwing Andrew Cashner for him, but they acquired a kid who is quickly turning into a future star at 1b. Rizzo has the looks of a Joey Votto type of hitter who is finally comfortable in his third organization in 2 years. Cashner looks like a closer type, but you will take the #3 hitter for the next 10 seasons for a middle relief/closer type any day of the week. The other was his expert deal yesterday with the Braves. He dealt a 1 yr rental in Maholm and a 4th OFer in Johnson (both would be FAs next yr) for a rehabbing former Yankees prospect Arodys Vizcaino. Yes, he is hurt, but he had TJS, something that has become a right of passage for pitchers. Arodys was a guy I didnt want to deal for Javy Vazquez, but that is beside the point. The kid has the rare combo of power and command at a young age. He should be ready to resume his big league career next yr, a season where he will be 22 yrs old for the entire season. They also were able to get something for Soto, who has been an embarassment this season and are trying like hell to get something of value for Dempster, who has painted them into a corner.
  21. Cook wasnt gonna bring back much, but watching that sinker fly into the seats likely killed any return he would have brought back
  22. Dropping like flies. Tex sprained his wrist and will be out a few days at minimum. His MRI is pending. We have to add a bat here. Our pitching hasnt been bad, but our offense has slept since the ASB. We need to wake the f*** up, and without ARod and Tex, it is hard for that to happen
