    They were one game out, but their flaws were on national level of display in September. They seemed to need a declaration of which team they were, though. Were they the team that dominated from May through August or were they the bumbling team of April and September. As it turns out, they were the latter. Now, they need an overhaul. The problem is, they are up against the cap and looking at big money to some of their arb players. And some of that big money is coming off the books in the name of a guy who is leading your team in everything offensively in Ortiz. They really need to hope a guy like Garza falls into their lap.

    You mean the highly original "bankee$"? They very well might lose in the first round this yr. They also might win the world series. Gotta make it to the playoffs to lose in them, though.

    I can see it now, Lavs posts a sub .200BA in a SSS for the sox. Cherington sours on him, deals him for a washed up back of the rotation starter. He goes on to have an all-star 2013 and said washed up starter washes up big time.

    I said it all along with Melancon. The kid has good stuff, he has a knockout curve and when he wants to, he has a really good 2 seamer. But in the bright lights, he tightens up the ******* and either tries to K everyone with a 4 seamer or gets pussyfooted and throws all curves. He was at his best in the Yankee minors when he ran the two seamer in there on hitters counts and got groundball after groundball. He's a mental f***up and the Stros turned him around into one of the better SS's in the NL. The sox need to try and rebuild his value in AAA, cause I guarantee he gets picked up by a team like KC and he thrives. Put him out of the spotlight and he actually stays within himself. Put him in the limelight and he sucks ass

    If the Red Sox come into the 2013 season with Ciriaco as their starting SS, then they have royally f***ed themselves in 2013. Ciriaco should come to camp in 2013 on the roster bubble without anything for granted. This guy has shown nothing in his entire career sans this tiny sample to warrant a guarantee of a roster spot. If he is guaranteed a spot, then you better hope Iggy is ready

    It still remains to be seen why they didnt do this prior to Aug 1. He actually had solid numbers at that time and teams were starved for power hitting catchers

    Eric Chavez has been amazing this yr as our 3b. Might be time to extend him for another yr and platoon him and ARod between 3b and DH.

    The takeaway here is that there are many rifts within the club. There's a rift in the FO, a rift within the ranks of the players and a rift between the players and Bobby V.

    I just dont get why they didnt do this before July 1. It effectively means that the player they might have their eyes on could get hurt and will definitely lose some time acclimating to the sox system. I doubt it is a real prospect, but there are some players who blossom.

    What I find damning is the fact that the GM confirmed the report and then effectively confirmed that there was dirty laundry aired. Holy s***, talk about dysfunctional. It would seem that Cherington was the guy who leaked the story to the press. This is absolutely amazing
