  1. Yankees fielding offers for Granderson and are considered still in the Hamilton thing. Wouldnt that be interesting. Deal off Grandy for a slew of prospects then sign Hamilton.
  2. Swisher sucked in RF. He was like a Circus without any lights while 50 yr old coke heads are doing the flying trapeze.
  3. Dickey 2012- 233.2IP 192H 71ER 230K 54BB 2.73ERA 1.05WHIP 4.3K/BB 8.9K/9IP. Those numbers are insane
  4. Wakefield was NEVER as good as Dickey was last yr. As a matter of fact, Lester has never been as good as Dickey was last yr. Dickey had an amazing yr last yr, stop considering him akin to Wake. He throws harder and his knuckler is better.
  5. I see Bubba is on his way to the ban hammer. Nice knowing you Bub
  6. They should be able to get one of them, realistically, since the guy is coming off a Cy Young season. Both would be pushing it. My guess is they deal him prior to the season to a desperate team like the Royals
  7. Looks like Cody Ross is high priority for the Yanks. Undecided on this idea, he is coming off a good yr, but it was Fenway dependent
  8. 5 unfortunately. If fully healthy, he can hit. Playing the field isn't helping
  9. I'd use the term catcher loosely. He's really a DH or 1b catching.
  10. He's an all power and nothing else "catcher" who likely needs to move off the position. His value isnt high
  11. From the reports I have read, it sounds like ARod's left hip was bothering him before the playoffs and he needed pain killers and even a night in the hospital due to the pain. I have to wonder why they waited 2 months into the offseason to get this s*** taken care of. Bad medicine practiced in NY
  12. This is overly dramatic to say the least. Because of the decline across the board of all offensive players, Tex actually posted a higher WAR in 2012 than he did in 2011, while playing 23 fewer games. He is still in his prime and is still a good bet for 30HR 100RBI and a ton of walks. He isnt the .300/.400/.600 hitter we thought we signed, but he is still a solid offensive contributor. And Cano is the best at his position offensively, bar none. SO the right side of the infield is probably the best in baseball. Jeter had a career season last yr and it remains to be seen how he comes back from his injury and ARod's recovery is 3-6 months, yet everyone is pointing to the 6 month mark. Even if he is, Jeter will be back offensively well before then and ARod will likely return to the lineup with a lot of games to go. We should improve defensively on the left side of the infield regardless of what we do since both ARod and Jeter were statuesque over the last yr. On option that I forsee happening is ARod moving to DH and Jeter moving to 3b, allowing Nunez to ascend to the starting role full time. I think ARod's days of being an offensive force are behind him, but if he is moved to DH full time, I still think he can be a near .800OPS player offensively. He just needs to get those hips healthy, but I do agree that his days in the field are likely over
  13. As we see with all prospects, though, they aren't a sure thing. Injuries and ineffectiveness limit a lot of these prospects, especially those on the pitching end. You know what you have in terms of workload for Lester. You hope he can pitch to his potential and give you high end innings. And I doubt Haren can do that, especially when his hip and back are issues of contention and he lost velo last yr. Back injuries, mid 30s and lost velocity are bad mixes for starting pitchers
  14. SFF, how can you be "honest" and honestly think the sox could get Garza for what amounts to nothing? That's completely ridiculous. If he's hurt, he won't pass his physical and a deal won't get done. If he's healthy, he throws 190IP like it's nothing. The Cubs will want a haul akin to what they gave Tampa. And they will get it too.
  15. OTOH, it might give us exactly what we need, a chance to groom our prospects and take a yr to step back. Nunez has been dynamite in limited time offensively, but he has been inconsistent with the glove. We also have Corban Joseph hitting very well on the farm at 2b, a position he could re-take if they decide to move Cano to 3b. Same can be said for David Adams. If Jeter can hit but cannot field come opening day and ARod is out for a length of time, I'd stash Derek Eater at SS and go with said infield. We would need to get a bat for RF, though, as our internal options arent ready for prime time come 2013
  16. Sounds like ARod's hip is acting up again. I think the days of ARod seeing the field on defense might be over. They also might be delayed for Jeter too. If both are coming off lower extremity surgeries, we will have a bizarre looking IF come opening day. This is why the Yanks are going so hard after Stephen Drew
  17. I just dont see the rationale behind dealing from your weakness to add to a strength. If I was Cherington, I only deal Lester if I think I can get a better pitcher
  18. I would think Romine would have the upper hand. He's equal to Stewart in defense, as both as very solid, but he has a much higher offensive projection
  19. e1, I am sure the concern for sox fans is if Myers turns into Jay Payton
  20. This has been hashed and rehashed. An ace is consistent and durable. Buchholz has had stretches where he's dominant. He also misses a ton of time and has stretches of not just in effectiveness, but downright abhorrence
  21. I think he's assuming a deal of Granderson and moving Gardner to CF
  22. Jeter cant do cardio until January. He'll lose the weight. Soto isn't as strong defensively as Martin, but he is a good defender
  23. Soto was non-tendered by the Rangers. He might be a good guy to sign as he brings similar power to Martin's
  24. Hanson's shoulder is a worry. He's missed time and lost some velocity
  25. No cardio equals fat Derek.
