This is overly dramatic to say the least. Because of the decline across the board of all offensive players, Tex actually posted a higher WAR in 2012 than he did in 2011, while playing 23 fewer games. He is still in his prime and is still a good bet for 30HR 100RBI and a ton of walks. He isnt the .300/.400/.600 hitter we thought we signed, but he is still a solid offensive contributor. And Cano is the best at his position offensively, bar none. SO the right side of the infield is probably the best in baseball. Jeter had a career season last yr and it remains to be seen how he comes back from his injury and ARod's recovery is 3-6 months, yet everyone is pointing to the 6 month mark. Even if he is, Jeter will be back offensively well before then and ARod will likely return to the lineup with a lot of games to go. We should improve defensively on the left side of the infield regardless of what we do since both ARod and Jeter were statuesque over the last yr.
On option that I forsee happening is ARod moving to DH and Jeter moving to 3b, allowing Nunez to ascend to the starting role full time. I think ARod's days of being an offensive force are behind him, but if he is moved to DH full time, I still think he can be a near .800OPS player offensively. He just needs to get those hips healthy, but I do agree that his days in the field are likely over
