  1. The Yankee team is built with some good depth, if you want to call it that. It isnt depth when the players you will rely on for maybe a handful of games a month or in a pinch for a 15 day DL stint are your starters for 2 months. I completely didnt factor in the loss of Swisher. We better get a lot better performance from our SP's or else we're f***ed
  2. Exhibit 1 of 162. The early returns suck balls
  3. Our offense is the f***ing balls!! /sarcasm
  4. 13 WAR over 4 seasons with a UZR of near +8 on his career and only 24. He's a guy who should be good for an over .350 OBP with lots of speed at a premium position. He's worlds better than Iglesias in total package
  5. Opening night bitches!!
  6. You have to hope a small market team has an ace. That's the only way we got CC
  7. Well, Stein Jr offered that. Cashman stuck to his guns and didnt make the offer, instead opting to wait a yr and sign CC, which won him a title and still has a functional ace on his roster
  8. Well, if he gets sent down, he has to stay down for at least 7 barring an injury. If Ortiz comes back and shows he can play everyday then they will send him down for exactly 20 days and reevaluate from there
  9. And they'd be stupid not to. It makes too much sense to not send Bradley down when Ortiz returns
  10. David Adams was released today. Stupid f***ing move
  11. I like the Overbay move, not because I think he'll amount to anything, but because he provides depth.
  12. Guys, it's ST. Remember that. He has definitely been impressive, but making long term projections based on how a kid plays in ST is pretty difficult to say the least. They should start the yr with him in LF. Ortiz is out, Gomes is a glorified DH and Nava isnt a long term answer. Nobody truly knows how long Ortiz will be out for. He had a good BP session, congrats. That hasnt been his issue. It's been running, something he hasnt been able to do. You might have a long term need in the OF should he be out awhile and you'll definitely have one when Ells walks in the offseason. Once Ortiz proves healthy, I send the kid down, no matter how well he is playing and delay his clock by one yr
  13. BSN, I'm boggled by this move. Our best prospects are OFers, but only Tyler Austin has seen time in AA (really a cup of coffee). We dealt away Abraham Almonte, whose upside was huge but couldn't stay healthy. Then we have guys like Zoilo Almonte and Melky Mesa, two guys who look like 4th OFers long term. But the last 2 are athletic, play good D and have above average power, so in not sure why they didn't try to roll with them. Wells hasn't been good since 2010, and since he went to ANA, he's been abysmal. Now, I understand that our park is conducive to some guys showing improvement, but that's typically for lefties rather than righties. This seems like a panicked move, one that didn't have to be made right now, especially since the Halos have been kicking around the idea of releasing Wells for the past year or so.
  14. http://espn.go.com/blog/new-york/yankees/post/_/id/51196/wells-contract-will-help-189m-goal I still dont get the idea of throwing $12-$14 million away for this season to save $2 mil next yr. It doesnt sound financially responsible
  15. As I am reading more on this, there is a possible Upside. From the sounds of it, the angels will pay nearly nothing this year, with them paying over the amount that he is owed next year. This will allow the Yankees to earn a credit towards the 2014 season. If that is the case that it may be a method to manipulate the salary-cap To be able to sign another player.
  16. I can only imagine that they saw something in him in spring training that they think they can fix. Otherwise I cannot understand this move.
  17. I think anyone down on the sox has said the same thing. Buch and Lester have to pitch to their ceilings.
  18. In the end, Lohse got his money. He didn't get $15 mil per season, but $11 mil per yr for 3 yrs from a guy who's been off and on through his career is good for the player. I honestly think Lohse ends up on the scrap heap by 2015
  19. They must think a change of venue could help him. It's a gamble
  20. They're desperate that's for sure. They brought in Rivera and Diaz and both are flopping. They now have a need for a third outfielder and a fourth until Granderson is healthy. I don't get the price tag especially since they're trying to get under the cap for 2014. My guess is they think he's still young enough to recoup some value. I don't like this move at all.
  21. You mean no one else thinks he's a 20 time all star?
  22. Ital, I hear ya. Definitely didn't follow college ball at all this yr due to UConn's suspension. But the dance is still fun to watch
  23. Yankees sign Chien Ming Wang to a MiLB deal. I like it. No risk, and if he can get back to some semblance of form, he gives us some depth
  24. I think expectations need to be made for the most part. He's never going to be a hitter. He's always going to get by with his glove. You are going to have to make up for the lost offense elsewhere in the lineup
