  1. The most recent mocks have the sox snagging Austin Meadows, HS OF from Georgia. He has the talent to be the #1 overall pick and can stick in CF supposedly in the bigs. He'd be a big get. The Yankees are predicted to select Rob Kaminsky, a HS Lefty from NJ. He tops out in the mid 90s and has potentially the best curve in the draft. As for the comp rounds, the Yankees are predicted to select Billy McKinney, a HS OFer from Texas who has the potential to develop power and be a good COF with an innate good eye. They also are predicted to select RHP Casey Shane, a HS pitcher from Texas. He's a big bodied right hander with a power sinker, a knockout curve and good command thus far.
  2. Hafner and Wells have been revelations.
  3. Youk DL'd. Corban Joseph up. He should be starting at 3b or 1b
  4. How the f*** are we losing to this f***ing team?
  5. There is a major pressure component on the hitter on 3-0. You're always coached that if you swing on 3-0, you better get it. And some coaches have everyone take on a 3-0 count uniformly.
  6. Encinas with 6 innings of shutout ball yesterday, dropping his ERA to 0.31. Might be time to challenge him a little
  7. If you haven't been there before, I'd highly recommend going in with no plan and just walking around. Yawkey way is impressive and when you walk through it, you can lose an hour just getting food and enjoying the atmosphere. I'm partial to the greatest bar. But that just me
  8. ARod is going to come back and struggle to find PT. Hafner is our second best hitter behind Cano and Youk isn't sitting
  9. This Yankee team built with Band-Aids, duct tape, and glue has shown how to win through one month. The pitching is been very solid, and the bullpen has been nearly untouchable. Once the stars actually return, this team will be something to watch.
  10. Mariano throwing 92-93 tonight. He truly is the best. 9 for 9 in SvOps this yr
  11. The old bastard is 14 for 27 with 2 bombs, 9RBI's and a 1.422OPS through 7 games this yr. Just to show how ridiculous his start is, he already has a 0.6WAR for a guy who plays no defense and WAR is based on an entire season. He is ridiculously on fire and I wonder if they gave him some supplements to get his heels and achilles back to normal. Re-signing him thus far has looked like a pretty smart move. For at least the first month, those who destroyed Cherington should be smoking his pole by now
  12. Also, the Jets sucked the moosecock on day 3. I loved their moves on day 1 and initially on day 2. I thought Ivory was a solid decision. But Geno has nobody to throw to aside from Holmes and so you go with three straight Guards? I know a good O line should keep this kid upright, but nobody to throw to will have him getting coverage sacked
  13. Nassib was a value pick, I agree that it doesn't make sense. The Giants lack LB and CB depth and so they select none of them and pick a S, a DE, a DT, a LT and a QB in the first five selections. I don't get it. They must have their eye on something out there or they're sure Amukamara can step up as a shut down corner. We have safeties galore and a bunch of good D linemen, but have nothing in between on D.
  14. BSN, Richardson makes a lot of sense for a team moving to a 3-4. They need a big bodied DT, something they just don't have on the roster. The guy only had one good season, but he shredded the Tide O-line which was filled with all NFL starting caliber talent. His talent is immense and their needs were everywhere. Picking best available is what they did. Geno Smith was the consensus best QB is the draft. They got him in the second round. That's a steal. Even if Rex loses his job, having a groomed 2nd yr player is better than hoping you can land a potential franchise guy next yr. I agree that the Jets will suck in 2013. They're going to be around the same as they were last yr, 5-11, 6-10. But the pieces for future success are there without having to fill holes with expensive players while they try to get out of cap hell. Also, lets say Rex gets fired, you're going to have 12 months of practice footage and an entire season of play from Geno to make a decision on. Who knows, maybe he's actually capable of throwing the ball near his targets and not running into his own O linemen? What I like about Geno is his accuracy. The kid can throw it through a pinhole. What I don't like is that he's what they call a slow read, which is a mental thing. They're going to have to work on that, but that kind of accuracy with big arm strength and good QB speed is not common in players who fall to the second round. In terms of my favorite team, the GMen, I am wondering if they just picked best available instead of need. I think Hankins is a beast, but they had much bigger needs. Yeah, upgrading the O line is nice, but our D was second worst to the worst D of all time last season, so that's no good. I know we sucked stopping the run, but we couldn't stop the pass either. And maybe we replaced Umenyiora long term with our third rounder, but we have no breathing linebackers right now
  15. Trenton just pasted Matt Barnes tonight while we saw Jose Ramirez throw 4 dominant innings of relief in the same game. They're bringing him along shortly, but if Nova is out for an extended period of time, this kid is going to be in the bigs in some capacity very soon. Probably as a swing guy a la Phelps from last yr, but likely to be in the rotation by season's end
  16. BTW, up to this point, Cervelli has a .877OPS and Martin has a .699 one. Saving that $17 mil looks smart. Cervelli has also looked f***ing money behind the plate. Up comes Romine, who has been on fire thus far in AAA and offers phenomenal defense. I have a feeling this injury to Cervelli just started the clock ticking on Chris Stewart's end of his career in NY
  17. If they cut him after June 1, they can spread out his cap hit over 2 yrs
  18. They need to fix it now. Go to Andrews, have the surgery and stop dicking around. You can have him back full force by the ASB and actually use him at his maximum without seeing this parade of garbage he's been putting out there. Phelps right now is better than an injured Nova, so pull the trigger and salvage something from 2014.
  19. I am puzzled a little by the Giants. Their defense sucked balls and they address it in the 2nd and 3rd round by adding to their already strong D line without addressing their bare bones LB corps and thin CB corps. In terms of the Jets, I think they killed it. Milliner was a need pick and a good one. I think Richardson gives them a front 3 for the future with Wilkinson and Coples that they can build off of. Geno Smith was probably the best QB in the draft and they got him in the second round. That allows them to release Sanchez, who is the worst QB I have ever seen play. Don't know much about Winters, but they do need some interior help on the O line to complement Ferguson and Mangold. They also dealt their 4th rounder for Chris Ivory, who I think will be a very good bell cow back in this offense. All in all, I think the Jets picked best player available their first 3 selections and shored up their defense while adding their future QB, their now HB and adding depth to the line. This new GM is going to do some things for the Jets
  20. So Francisco Cervelli, who has taken the catcher's job by the ball sack is out 6 weeks with a hand fracture that will require surgery. Later in the game, Ivan Nova left with elbow pain, which is something I have wondered about Nova for a little while now. Romine has been pulled from his AAA game and Phelps is slotting into the 5th spot in the rotation. How much more can this f***ing team get snakebit. Actually, I dont want to f***ing know
  21. I think they saw that his bat speed was still there. The guy just hated being in Anaheim for some reason. It's gonna be hard to make a decision when Grandy returns, but I think Ichiro might become a part time player
  22. We scored a grand total of 3 runs in the series against the starters, 1 of which was a runner who reached on a passed ball. I'm just glad we weren't swept
  23. Gabe Encinas has been the surprise so far through the first 2 months of workouts and the first 3 weeks of the season. He came to camp in great shape and consistently throwing mid 90s. His change and breaking ball have been improved as a result and he has dominated the long season leagues in his first taste of them to the tune of a 0.39ERA. He's now thrown 23IP, allowing 1ER, 11H, while striking out 20 and walking only 7. If he keeps this up, he'll be in High A by the time summer hits
  24. it was a big win, especially with the pitching matchup seeming so s*****. Hughes vs Price was thought to be an auto-loss, but he went pitch for pitch and our pen locked it down
