  1. I'd assume Gil made it
  2. Far worse. Cashman has two things going for him. The Yankee name and the ability of the development staff to find diamonds in the rough for peanuts. He always makes a huge splash and then the development staff seems to find one or two kids a year who rise fast and got less than $50K
  3. Your farm will be deeper than ours in 2 years, IMO. Bloom has knocked the first pick out of the park two years in a row. Cashman seems to make most of his hay on the INTL market and in the mid rounds with collegiate pitchers. Eventually, the better drafter will win, especially if an international draft is instituted
  4. I still like Wells. He looks like a Schwarber type who will probably stick behind the plate early in his career as a backup while getting starts in the OF and at 1B. I was not expecting Yorke to tear it up like he did. The rankings are the rankings. MLB has Dominguez in the teens, Gil at the back end and Volpe and Peraza similar. They’ve got Duran in the 20s and Yorke in the back end of the top 100. I’ve said before and I’ll say again, Sox system is top heavy. This doesn’t change that perception. It won’t be for long, though. Bloom is a builder and better suited for today’s game than our GM.
  5. We shall see. Dominguez held his own pretty well in long season as an 18 yr old. He should be in High A as a 19 yr old and go from there. Arias will likely spend 2022 in the DSL or maybe in the GCL and go from there.
  6. Yanks sign Roderick Arias using essentially their entire budget. Kid is the top rated prospect. Switch hitter, fast, quick hands, power potential, great bat. Comp is Wander Franco. Seriously hope he comes close to that!
  7. Let’s make history by winning titles not headlines.
  8. What a f***ing punk. Manfred sucks
  9. The biggest question is when will these fat cats come to the table and figure this s*** out so we can all have a welcome distraction from the shitshow going on around us all?
  10. Correction: Players feel a floor will then have a cap that follows
  11. Players don't want a salary floor because with a floor comes a cap. 1/3 is not a majority, for sure. But it only takes 6 teams in the middle ground who are currently rostered with mostly players under their first 6 years of control to make it a non-starter. I think you've got at least 6, maybe as many as 10 that would give a definite no based on how their teams are constructed right now
  12. Yanks are still waiting for the Sanchez of 2017 to return. That guy used to hit outside pitches over the RF wall, not roll them over to the SS. I can only imagine that the poor C market made them make this decision, although it's not even really a decision. They can still cut him in ST and only be on the hook for 10% of the contract
  13. Most teams fall into the Astros model. Can be big spenders but will need to re-set once their window closes. Few teams fall into the Yanks/Cubs/Sox/Dodgers category where they have the resources (although clearly not the regular willingness) to outspend their competition on a yearly basis and stay competitive. Then there are the teams at the bottom. The Rays and A's found a way to compete by beating the system per se, but it has led to zero titles. The Royals had a flash in the pan that got them a title and another WS appearance, yet it took them 30 years to build and a year to tear it all down. The DBacks who have spent in the past but seem to be trending towards the Pirates as cashless bottom dwellers. Pirates built something that led to two playoff berths before resuming their time as doormats of the NL Central. The Marlins have won two titles when they spent then decided to blow it all up. They have recently made the POs. The Orioles have been a pile of s*** for 6 years running now and might be one of the worst teams in the history of baseball. The moral of the story is that teams like KC, TB, Oakland, Pitt, ARI, BAL, MIN, CLE, MIA, and CIN make up 1/3 of the voting block. Their model of contention will be demolished if years of service get trimmed. If a salary floor was instituted, TB and Oakland would need to be contracted. The big dogs are entirely happy with shorter control. This means they get a shot at premium talent earlier. The guys in the middle are ambivalent since they can spend if need be and would be rewarded with more prime years. But there is no prayer of meeting the players halfway when 1/3 of the owners will essentially vote no to anything that involves shortening player control
  14. They also could be hedging their bets on finding a better catcher. An arb offer isnt binding. If the Yanks cut him in ST, they are only on the hook for 10% of the arb total, or $800K.
  15. Sanchez is gonna catch, be dealt or not play. He doesn’t hit well enough to DH. Stanton is going to be the DH most games. We have an open OF position, especially if Gallo moves to CF. Hicks can back up the other OFers, but Suzuki would be a good add to lengthen the lineup. We need an OFer, a SS, and a C at the very least offensively
  16. Gallo to CF is the only logical choice if we are to keep the guy. His swing and miss tendencies get magnified in the AL East facing the type of pitching seen in this division. If he can even play average CF defense, he will be a very positive WAR player and open up some avenues for us. If he is our starting LFer on opening day, then we done f***ed up
  17. Mayer doesn’t have an ETA right now. Brand new draftee out of HS who’s only big league experience was in the short season leagues. Give the kid some time to adjust and move.
  18. Lots of rumor about Story to the Sox. This makes me think the sox are gonna shop Bogaerts if they got him. Story should cost significantly less than the SS's that signed already. Correa will fill a hole as well. If the sox got him on a cheaper deal and then dealt off a year of Bogey, they could get quite the prospect haul for a team looking for a more short term commitment.
  19. Everyone on the Yankee prospect side predicted he would move to relief for 2020 before the season got wiped out due to COVID. Cashman handed him over for cap relief because they knew he was going to be a reliever. Makes little sense that the Sox didn’t see that. German is a high octane RHP with a devastating change up yet zero other secondary offerings. He has a slider that sucks and dabbled with a curve that sucks. He will be a FB-CH reliever akin to Tommy Kahnle once they make the inevitable move
  20. Honestly, I think the lockout hurts a team like Boston more. Boston isn't a buy and hold franchise anymore. They are a value based organization, which means a lot of wheeling and dealing. I think the lockout will hurt them just as much as the surprise playoff run. Bloom also leaked that the Sox tried to extend Devers. Note how nobody threw out a monetary figure. Unless JH gets involved, I expected Bogey to be dealt this year and Devers next. The returns would be fantastic, but you'd have to watch a developed fan favorite walk
  21. JBJ is NOT on your team right now to start. He is a very expensive 4th OFer. Bloom bought Bradley's salary to increase prospect return. In typical Bloom fashion, I bet he thinks a focused utilization of Bradley can maximize his production, aka value, and he might be able to find a taker who would give him something of value back after this year. Sox fans need to understand what Bloom is. He is a descendant of moneyball, an architect of Rays-ball and will literally deal off your most sentimental player if it adds value to the club. He is the epitome of the corporatization of baseball. Your team should benefit from this, but I wouldn't get attached to any players. The days of guys hanging on and having a fanfare filled farewell tour will be over in Boston. But there's a good chance you'll hang banners
  22. What about this…. Bogaerts and Pivetta for Lux and Gonsolin
  23. Sox, Yanks and Jays locked in a battle over Japanese star Seiya Suzuki.
  24. Roderick Arias to sign with yanks per reports. Top intl FA
