  1. They’re already over the LT by about $13 mil at this point. This still feels like an incomplete team. I’m sure they’ll make some other depth moves. I know they’re better now than they were a couple days ago.
  2. Where is Freeman landing now??
  3. Yanks absolutely need a viable outfield addition capable of playing CF. I don’t count Locasto. I know Gallo can be a reasonably good CF, but I’d rather the 4th outfielder be someone who can fill in when Hicks goes down
  4. There’s one other little wrinkle. That the yanks feel confident they can deploy Stanton in LF and Donaldson is a DH in waiting. Also, Donaldson will play 3b/1b/DH on this team. He also fits right in with a Yankee team that enjoys time on the IL, but the redundancy this creates makes it worth the risk. You lock down the biggest defensive positions on the infield and give options for the others and you’ll be good.
  5. I don’t think this move is about the catching prospect at all. The catching prospect is expected to be a prime defender but hasn’t been able to hit his way out of a wet paper bag even in the minors. He’s a backup catcher through all this And Urshela is definitely not the player Donaldson is, especially at the plate. Gio had 1.3 seasons of out of the blue offensive production and saw it slip last year. Donaldson still has middle of the order bat production with still high level hard contact and walk rates. He’s also a league average K guy which is an upgrade for an offense with a bunch of guys K’ing high 20s% or more. But what I really love about Donaldson is attitude. He’s got a no-nonsense, f*** the world attitude which will help this team full of gutless sacks of s***. He’s the offensive veteran presence this team has craved since Gardner started going in the tank. This is addition by subtraction with Sanchez. They could have had him for a bag of balls as far as I’m concerned. Add in a prime SS defender and now starting our top level defender in Higgy and the yanks have changed their spots in one move
  6. I’m just stunned the Twins said yes. I guess it’s a salary dump move for the Twins, but Donaldson is still good. Sanchez is a pile of s***. Urshela was hurt and started to fade back into the AAAA player he was before.
  7. Honestly, it moves DJ to super sub. He probably going to play 140 games (if healthy) with an even split between 1b, 2b, and 3b while playing a few games at SS to give IKF a breather. This trade just added depth and versatility to an IF that didn’t have any. And the days of pitchers hating Sanchez are over. You should see a major rotation boost just by losing the fat slob behind the dish. Higashioka has just as good an arm, but frames and blocks better. He’s not Cole’s personal catcher for nothing. Cashman just gave his pitching staff a huge, huge gift here
  8. I cannot tell you how much I love this trade. While IKF isn’t a sexy name, he’s better than every other SS still on the market not named Correa. He solidifies a position that’s been a defensive black hole since Didi left. I did not want the Yanks to deal prospects for IKF as I figured he’d be a stop gap. Problem solved. Urshela had some soft tissue injuries creep in last year and started to fade. He also was slated to be out of position as a SS. Deal him before he loses value. Sanchez was a non tender candidate. We are literally better off without him. It still wouldn’t surprise me if he went off for 40 bombs in MIN, but he was toast in NY. Our defense up the middle just got worlds better. And then there’s Donaldson. I love his attitude. He will add fight to this gutless team. Expecting anything more than 120 games is likely too much, but he can start as a 3b and slide over to 1b if the bruised hulk Voit goes down again. Yanks got better today. I’ve been killing them for their lack of action, but I like this move a lot
  9. Freedom!! No more apologizing for Sanchez ********
  10. This seems to be the goal nowadays for a large market club. Never truly go for it but always be in the picture. This maximizes revenue without breaking the bank
  11. Maybe he was using the sticky icky
  12. We signed Ronald Guzman!!! f***ing parade!
  13. I’m waiting for the Yanks to re-sign Enrique Wilson
  14. But also made him akin to nuclear waste by end of year. He got left off the postseason roster for a reason
  15. If someone wants pitchers who can throw high 90s, we’re the farm to get guys from
  16. I doubt he will to be honest with you. Who’s the last true ace developed by Tampa? Blake Snell, drafted 11 years ago. But you’ll get a few guys capable of giving innings who can K guys or get good GB rates and be flexible to relieve as a bulk guy
  17. And unless ordered by Henry, Bloom won’t be backed into a bad deal. I have a been consistent that Bogaerts is in his final year as a Red Sox, and I thought he’d have been dealt already if not for the lockout. While you won’t see Sox lifers with Bloom, you’ll never have a down phase. Also, to revisit the Renfroe deal, Bloom got a capable defensive replacement and two non notable prospects…… until you look at the prospects. Hamilton is a bat to ball burner with plus speed and defensive versatility. Binelas is a plodding hitter without a position. Both guys offer a unique top tool, Hamilton speed and Binelas power. If you’re going to load up on singular skills sets, speed and power aren’t bad ones to shoot for
  18. So they signed Locasto to a major league deal, expected to be minimum. If they’re gonna go the cheap, speed route, they were better served using Florial. He counters Locasto’s speed and at least has the chips to push a ball over the fence every now and then. Locasto’s only usable traits are contact and speed. Well, he blew out his knee last year, so speed is a question mark
  19. Lots of things went right last year for the Sox to win 92. The Sox had tremendous health last year and most players performed at or above career norms. They say durability is a skill, and I do but I to that, but luck plays into it too. It’s best to have depth and that’s what Bloom is building. One guy goes down, there’s another capable guy behind him.
  20. Expecting anything from Paxton is a fools errand. He’s as brittle as they come. His elbow will be fine, but one must ensure his spine isn’t an issue. That’s been his biggest problem
  21. Bloom means you’ll always be on unstable ground, but it also means no cliff.
  22. Eventually you run out of players to sign
  23. We just signed Locasto after the Sox let him go. Really? That’s it?
  24. If Lemahieu (my MIP candidate for 2022) can regain his form as a low K, high average hitter and we can add another regular who offsets the all or nothing approach of practically every other starter, we will be ok. We faced off against Eovaldi multiple times last year and each time he just rifled through our RH heavy, high K lineup. We need some guys who can put up a fight
  25. Totally forgot about Sawamura. Yeah, Bloom is gonna swing a deal from your relief corps
