  1. I agree, I would love for a bridge yr to turn out to be a title year, even if it was one massive coincidence.
  2. I said before the season and I say again, 2013 was an aberration. Not sure if the whole bearded brothers thing or the bombing gelled them together, but they all seemingly put up their career averages or career years at once. That isn't sustainable. Remove your all star leadoff hitter, top 5 offensive catcher and to this point, your top 10 SS and the whole ball of wax melts
  3. The guy runs hot and cold, you guys know that. When he's hot, your whole offense goes. When he's cold, it goes with him. I think he is poorly utilized in the 3 hole, especially while cold. He's bound to warm up soon, especially as he shakes the flu he had last week
  4. He's now hit 17HR on the year.
  5. Tanaka the victim of bad defense here. He's been okay today, not his typical dominance, and our offense has hibernated
  6. You move Rondo and you go into full out rebuild. Smart, Olynyk, and Sullinger are nice pieces, but I think you easily become the Bucks assuming you're dealing Rondo for picks in later years
  7. There has to be another player that can hit for Bradley here.
  8. Smart is a PG and unless you want to move Rondo for a better piece, and is a redundant pick.
  9. Napoli had a .842OPS, tied for his second highest of his career in a full season. He had a full season of 1.045 and a half season of .960 which props up his numbers. His BABIP last yr was .367, which was a career high. Victorino had the highest BABIP of his career at .321 and his .802OPS last yr was only the third time in his career he was over .800.
  10. Napoli and Victorino had ridiculous BABIPs. Nava was one of the best offensive players in baseball.
  11. I honestly think Ainge will work something out here. They already have a Randle in Sullinger. Exum might be there. Gordon and Vonleh seem to be mocked there
  12. They cannot deal the 6th pick for Love. They'd only have been able to do that with a top 3, as those are the only transcendent talents in this draft. There are probably a bunch of other productive players here, but those are the only "can't miss" guys
  13. No you didn't. You had above average players play like all-stars
  14. We have found Tanaka's kryptonite. He cannot pitch in the rain
  15. It's a f***ing joke that Cleveland got it again. They completely f***ed up last year's lottery. So they get a do over with a much better draft?
  16. You have to score to win. Sox pitching is trying to be perfect, but they obviously aren't. Last yr is looking luckier and luckier by the day
  17. Cliff Lee, a common trade target, will undergo an MRI on his pitching elbow due to residual pain. He's been diagnosed with a "flexor pronator strain", which can typically be confused with a torn UCL on clinical exam.
  18. You cannot send him to the minors. He has no options left
  19. SO Gardner hit the pitcher on the hand with his first grounder. Hammel doesn't look right, but he's staying in
  20. I am still wondering what embarrassment tastes like
  21. But it would have helped the Red Sox and would have taken Jeter off the diamond. Next yr, you don't have to worry about that
  22. Hanley doesn't fit the profile. Impatient, injury prone, right handed, SS with declining speed skills who is going to want 10 yrs. I think Drew is a Yankee for 4 and $48M next yr
  23. We came into this yr with 6 starters. Phelps was relegated to pen work, even though he didn't allow a ST run. Pineda was too good to leave off. So, we had to move Warren to the pen, even though he was a highly successful starter in the minors. Betances was a failed starter in the minors, but with him focusing solely on the stretch and 2 pitches, he's found himself. The rub now is that 3 starters are on the shelf, one for the rest of the yr and another who was lost before being injured in CC. We need starters now, and there is a rumor that the Yankees will stretch out Warren. I think that is complete folly, IMO. Our pen is the reason why we are outperforming our pythag. Yes, our pen ERA isn't stellar, but the guys who are tasked with holding leads have been near perfect. Kelley is coming off the DL shortly and he's been dominant sans his last appearance when he hurt himself. But the depth in the minors is unreal. Jose Ramirez is a starter who couldn't stay healthy. They moved him to the pen after he hurt himself in ST. He throws near 100mph with a nasty changeup. He's got closer stuff Danny Burawa has been a reliever all the way. He throws near 100 with a good slider. He's got closer stuff, but has issues with command Mark Montgomery is a guy who sits 90-94 with the best slider in the system. His K rates through the minors have been insane, although his command can use work too. Branden Pinder throws high 90s with a wipeout slider that he has found again. He's got closer stuff Those are the guys at AAA only. They have high end pen arms in their system. So if someone falters, they have more coming
