  1. Remember the whining about the SB of third and the ensuing "fight". That was in their last game against each other.
  2. Rubby has the best stuff and has been in more command than Ranaudo. Ranaudo's ERA is sparkling, but he's walked 30 guys in 50IP, Rubby is down near 20
  3. It's about time someone hit Papi. Seems like whenever anyone wanted to send the sox a message, they'd hit Youk (when he was there) or Nixon or Varitek. Papi would always get a pass.
  4. You need 19 more WS titles to supplant us. And then you would have to be the highest spending franchise by far for 15 yrs.
  5. Yes, he has. I didn't post it because it came out yesterday and I figured other would get to it before me
  6. Miraculously, we are 6th in the AL in IP/start with 60% of our rotation on the DL at 5.8IP per start. Once we get Pineda back, that should tick up a little, and I do expect there to be some significant rotational help coming in from outside the org
  7. I think they like the roster flexibility that Aceves provides to this point. I floated this on the scout forum, and if the Yankees promote any more kids, and then a player comes back from injury, then that player may lose an option or worse, have to be DFA'd. We have no shortage of power relief options in the minors. Montgomery, Burawa, Pinder, Ramirez et al. Once we get a definitive answer on Beltran and get Kelley and Pineda back, we should be close to full strength. Remember, two key pen cogs are in the rotation currently in Nuno and Phelps. I thought both of those guys would be playing key pen roles this yr. Now, they're pressed into duty. I also like what Whitley has brought to the table. Wait until you see him as a reliever. He's a 90-92 guy in the rotation. In relief, he's a 94-95 guy and his power plays off that solid change. I do think we are pressing Dellin a lot and Warren is getting a lot of run right now. When Kelley returns, Warren will slot into the 7th inning role again and on nights when Tanaka pitches, he shouldn't be needed.
  8. I think it sends a strange message. You go into the yr with 3 kids starting saying you want to give the kids a chance. Then, when you're practically out of it, you sign a veteran to supplant one of your kids
  9. Heard a lot of vitriol hurled Remy's way on the airwaves today. As it turns out, the kid was arrested 12 times and Jerry pulled strings to keep his son out of jail each time. His enabling allowed his son to go around telling people that he could get away with anything. Well, not anything there Jared.
  10. The question is, how much does he improve your team? Does he improve it enough to become a contender after being 8 games under .500? Probably not. You need at least 1 more starter and at least one more high quality, middle of the order OFer
  11. By Brett Gardner robbing a game winning hit. Aceves was hit all over the park, how he didn't allow a run is beyond me.
  12. Alfredo "White Flag" Aceves in the f***ing game. We have our closer ready and rested. And we go to this guy. Just f***ing cut him already
  13. f***ing moron manager
  14. 3-1 lead in the 6th, with a converted reliever starting the game and you let him go through the heart of the order? Stupid
  15. Is this a burned bridge year?
  16. It's turn back the clock day for Jeter
  17. Correction: Said Dojji, in a tie with Che Hsuan Lin
  18. Bad teams find ways to lose. You put up 5 in the first against Price, you have to win that game. Peavy allowing 5 back to this lineup is inexcusable.
  19. Good to see Ells break out a bit. McCann is starting to hit a bit too. Keeping Jeter in the 2 hole is killing this team
  20. Hamstring injury. Nava returns to Boston
  21. Last I checked, you were in last place and we were a game out of first
  22. The airwaves in the bean are confused as to why they have Drew back. Paraphrasing here 'He isn't going to turn this team into an automatic winner and he isn't the answer offensively. You either go all in before the season or you are in a development yr. Coming into the yr, it was all about development. Now, signing Drew, looks like a desperation move which stunts the development of Bogaerts as a SS'. It's a good point, but at the same time, I am not sure anyone views Bogaerts as a SS long term.
  23. This team is just figuring things out, hoping to tread water enough until we either get reinforcements from outside or within. Pineda should be back soon and a deal for a guy like Hammel or Samardzija could be realty helpful
  24. He is third in OPS for catchers with 100+ABs.
  25. It's all about who you'd replace him with. Everyone bagged on his defense, but by the metrics, it wasn't that bad. His offense at his position is second to very few. If you replaced him with a Buster Posey, then you have something. Replacing him with a similarly defensively deficient player who is older and less offensively gifted, then you forget what you had.
