  1. Wonder how Hicks is gonna f*** this up
  2. New year, same ********. Cannot f***ing hit
  3. Hicks is absolutely awful.
  4. Last night Diekman’s slider looked very hittable to righties but he located it out of the zone. He didn’t throw many in the zone strikes with it, especially vs the righties. He got the righties with the heater and just kept them honest with the slider. Now that slider from 3/4 on a lefty when you know he’s got 96 in his arsenal is almost impossible. Diekman has been a good reliever for a long time for a reason. He’s got lights out stuff. His issue is command in and out of the zone
  5. Yanks hit better with RISP last night and ran into some tough luck, but I’m not liking what I’m seeing out of Hicks. Twice he had easy RBI chances and twice he sucked. His at bats just don’t look good, continuing his putrid performance from the beginning of last year before he needed surgery.
  6. Cold weather suppresses bats. But I honestly don’t know what the deal is with the sticks as last year the Yanks didn’t even average 4 runs a game.
  7. Hicks killed us twice in big spots. Some hard hit balls found gloves. A solo homer beat us. Diekman had some big balls in the 9th. Great game again, this time fell the other way. What a series
  8. This ump sucks. 6 pitches to Gallo, none in the zone, 2 called strikes. Now this one to Dalbec.
  9. 4 base runners in two innings and we get nothing. Houck is not sharp. His movement is so wicked he cannot command it. He’s the “throw it down the middle” and see what happens kind of pitcher with all that movement. Either way, 10 batters through 2 innings and the heart of the order on its way. This is gonna be a pen battle ultimately
  10. Righties don’t see Houck. Judge is late twice
  11. I don’t get Rizzo. First pitch is a true cockshot and he took it. Are they taking a strike? Why?
  12. Stupid move keeping him in there. He can’t command
  13. We shall see if this works out. If Monty ends up with an arm issue now overcompensating for a leg injury it’ll be a war lost.
  14. Don’t risk this here. It’s a cold night, it’s gonna swell and you’ve got a starter on the roster in Schmidt.
  15. 95 from Monty? If the guns aren’t running hot, Monty added some veio
  16. Bloom is all about maximizing value. This deal is for a lights out reliever. If Whitlock becomes a reliable starter, then this deal is a f***ing home run
  17. It’s not a bad deal, but health is not guaranteed and for a guy who they’re using as a swing reliever, the likelihood of reinjury is high. I think this deal is a precursor to a move into the rotation, honestly
  18. Hill eclipsed 137IP for the second time in his career last year. Last time he eclipsed that number was 2007. His FIP was 4.34. ERod’s FIP last year was 3.32. ERod is 13 years his junior and was victimized by an absurd .364 BABIP. The idea that Hill will outpitch ERod this year is pretty low likelihood
  19. Can be worth up to $44 mil over 6 years
  20. Hard to take anything from an opening series seeing as you got swept at home by one of the worst teams of all time in your opening series last year and made it to within 2 wins from a WS.
  21. Boone has been lucky. Going to Sevy for one hitter yesterday was stupid. Allowing Gallo to face the lefty in the 10th on Friday was stupid when you needed contact and he’s the worst contact hitter in baseball. I didn’t like going to Castro with 2 guys on in the opener when Castro is not a control guy and it puts him in a spot where he has to throw strikes. To this point, Boone’s moves have worked but it doesn’t mean he’s doing a great job.
  22. There’s one thing to nitpick on the Yankee side. Yanks are hitting .196 as a team in the two games. The only earned runs scored were off HRs in the two games. The other two runs to score in extras involved the ghost runner. I know it’s early but it’s continuing the alarming trend of 2021 where the Yanks only scored off long balls.
  23. I don’t think going deep with him is a good idea. But on days you do, you need to win.
  24. Severino looked pretty good actually. Good velo, bite on pitches, etc. Not expecting lights out stuff from the jump but if they build him up slowly and he can stay healthy, he’ll be a major rotation asset. That Marinaccio kid isn’t just a good story. His stuff is absolutely wicked. If he shows command this year he will be the next breakout arm on the farm.
