  1. No clutch hitting. Swinging for the downs every AB. It’s not baseball. It’s home run derby
  2. There’s the O. Berrios hasn’t been good all game and the Yanks kept letting him off the hook
  3. This team is a bag of s*** offensively. Torres sucks. Hicks is a GB machine. The big guys take too many pitches. This is not a championship caliber offense
  4. Berrios is not that good tonight. Lots of hangers in the zone. Wild outside the zone. This team, once again, just cannot seem to capitolize offensively. Cole has actually looked really good. He hung the first one to Vlad and the second one was a pitcher’s pitch that he hit out. Tip the cap and stop pitching to him
  5. Vlad took him deep twice. He’s not getting torched, he just decided not to pitch around arguably the best hitter in the game
  6. Really weird game here. But the lack of a single shut down reliever outside of the games Whitlock piggy backs is a problem
  7. Diekman has enormous balls. He just might not have command
  8. ERod gave up. Sox up 2-1, Candelario makes a bad error and ERod just mails it in from there.
  9. Now the only issue with those types is they’ve got very little wiggle room. Cole can gut out a performance when he’s not locating due to his sheer overpowering stuff. But if Nesty doesn’t have pinpoint location, he’s gonna get torched.
  10. I love watching him pitch because he’s an Everyman. He’s under 6 feet, he doesn’t blow people away, and he relies on command AND control to get outs. His breed is a dying breed but can still be a very successful breed. Nowadays if you don’t hit 95, you’re not gonna make the bugs. But some of the best pitchers of all time had what Nesty has. Wide arsenal, command and control without any one overpowering pitch. It brings me joy
  11. Should have scored more but good to see the team hit a little better. Nesty is awesome. I love watching this kid work. Great command, multiple arm slots, multiple speeds on every pitch and his 89-94 mph fastball plays way, way up due to high spin rate and deception. He dominated a great lineup and only left after 17 outs due to lack of work in ST and a rigid pitch limit.
  12. Giant bag of dicks base running keeps a run off the board
  13. And that is how you injure him. You're asking him to give starter's innings without starter's consistency.
  14. Plus or minus. He can essentially carry what a starter gives to the end of the game. Problem is, he is only useful every 5th day in that scenario. He can impact more games, maybe up to 3 games per 5 in a shorter role. It will be harder to have him stay in this role once the roster size drops. Here is why. Let's say Cora decides he can be useful as a piggy back guy and targets Hill as his guy to piggy back with. Well, next Hill start, the sox score 10 runs and Hill is cruising. Why burn him then? Now you have him ready to piggy back on the next starter, but lets say the sox are either in the middle of a run or the middle of a losing streak. It is far harder to predict who will be starting than it will be who will take over in the 5th and carry it the distance
  15. It's the worst kept secret in Boston. Whitlock is being groomed to start. He is piggy backing right now on guys who won't deliver depth. Once they can be reasonably assured he can withstand the work load, he will be inserted into the rotation.
  16. JBJ would save all three runs. Torkelson’s ball and Schoop’s ball would have been caught
  17. So the 21 Sox were a failure? That’s pretty harsh IMO. Exceeded expectations, won the WC play in game vs hated rivals then knocked off division winners in ALDS. That’s a pretty successful year. If all you measure by is division titles, you won’t be able to enjoy the other methods of making the POs and possibly winning a title
  18. Ramiro Mendoza was pretty bad as a Red Sock
  19. The narrative will be Manoah pitched well. He wasn’t bad and he’s got serious stuff, but the Yanks missed a lot of pitches in the zone. Bad approach, bad umpiring, stupid managing, terrible hitting. I was hoping they’d turn over a new leaf this year, but 13 runs in 4 games is unacceptable
  20. f***ing stupid. Just stupid. Boone is a f***ing idiot. I hate him. King has proven to be a multi inning weapon out of the pen. That’s all well and good. But he’s not a starter or even a bulk guy. He’s a “face the lineup once” guy. He’s failed as a starter but for one AB, he’s a nightmare to face. Of course f***tard let’s him face 13 batters and he’s surprised we have two runners on
  21. And of course they go to the sidearmer who’s death to righties
  22. Boone just got schooled. First and second, nobody out. Richards struggling. Higashioka batting. Donaldson on the bench. Higashioka takes two balls, swings at a ball over his head then flies out. Now, Toronto manager realizes his pitches has nothing and has now faced three batters and he gets to adjust to Donaldson entering the game rather than having Donaldson hit for Higgy and face a clearly struggling Richards. So dumb and Boone once again gets outmanaged
  23. Why is Higashioka batting???
