  1. Lemahieu needs to lead off
  2. I’m really beginning to dislike Bird. Man, his at bats are painful
  3. Our IL can make the playoffs. SS Didi 2B Tulo RF Stanton C Sanchez Andujar 3B Florial CF Only missing LF, 1B, and DH SP1- Severino SP2- Montgomery SP3- Sabathia RP- Heller CL- Betances
  4. This is turning into a lost season and not due to underperformance. It is gonna be a depth season. Time to bring up some kids and see what they can do. Heck, our best prospect is on the shelf as well with a broken wrist.
  5. Sounds like this has been brewing a bit. We need to get past April
  6. Sanchez to the IL with a calf strain
  7. Sanchez is having leg tightness
  8. Giles is such a s*** pitcher
  9. Location way off for Eovaldi
  10. Hey, I’m okay with leveling the playing field, but if we do that, why have divisions? I’d be fine with top 4 make the playoffs. The entire reason why that will never happen is the rivalries. Yanks-Sox, Cubs-Cardinals, Dodgers-Giants will always bring in huge money. Decreasing those games will drop MLB’s profits, so it’ll never happen. In the interim, if winning your division matters, as it should even in a s*** division in this setup, then you have to have an incentive when you win it beyond an equal footing with a club who didn’t win theirs
  11. There absolutely was something wrong with the WC setup. What we found was home field advantage in baseball isn’t as big a deal as it is in football or basketball and the WC has almost an equal shot at making the WS compared to the division winners. I like what they do now, although a single game is too small to eliminate a playoff team, IMO. There has to be a bonus to winning your division. I’d rather see the wild card team have to win 2 to advance and then you’ve burned through their 2 or 3 starters for game 1 of the next series
  12. Paxton should have been pulled after three. We have an off day coming today and the guy has injury issues. He clearly didn’t have it. Yes, Boone has been managing like a moron
  13. I absolutely agree. I’d make it a 3 game series with the first game being a home game in WC2 ballpark and games 2 and 3 being a DHer in WC1’s ballpark
  14. Pathetic showing today. And yes, the wild card game is part of the postseason. A play in tiebreaker is not.
  15. It’s the wild card game and it absolutely is a playoff game
  16. We beat the A’s
  17. A good catcher can coax a better performance out of their pitchers, but I doubt Leon could coax 98 out of Sale’s left arm. The problem isn’t pitch calling, it’s pitch execution. A good catcher can increase the faith the pitcher has in his stuff, but if command is a problem, a good catcher can’t help that. The Sox staff has suffered both a loss of stuff and a loss of command
  18. Eovaldi has always had that disease. He just got hot for a month and got overpaid for it. Part of this may be ST, but another part of it is the WS hangover and the workload and stress these guys faced into October. Cora tried to mitigate that by babying them. Clearly, that hasn’t proven useful. But eventually, that cannot be an excuse and you’ve got to look at the pitching coach and ask why these guys look so bad.
  19. Sale came out yesterday with a little extra juice and was able to hump it up to 94 early, but couldn’t sustain it late. This isn’t a “workload” thing. This is either big workloads catching up to him or an injury. If he’s intent on pitching through it, he’ll need another pitch and better command.
  20. The weather wasn’t bad in Seattle or Oakland
  21. On paper, no. And you’re lucky that the AL really has 6 teams vying for 5 spots. And I’m not all that convinced the A’s can do it again. The WS hangover is a real thing. The Yanks right now are probably your toughest competitor, yet they’re down 11 players and hovering around that .500 mark. You should be surging and creating a big lead
  22. Yet it doesn’t excuse the fact that our starters handed a lead to our pen. Yesterday was a pen day with JL going 3, but after Tarpley and Cessa, we handed a 1 run lead to the pen in the 7th and blew it again. It’ll eventually even out, but this is garbage twice in a row
  23. Yet lost every playoff game there in 2017
  24. Houston is our house of horrors. Not surprising
