  1. Sanchez picked off again. Where does he think he’s going? He’s been picked off twice in two games? With Andujar likely returning as a DH, Sanchez behind the dish is going to be the norm going forward Once Bird bobbled the ball, he needed to just step on the bag. Not getting an out there cost us a second run that inning. Thankfully, Clint came through
  2. Sale hasn’t shown the same velocity since his injury. Listen, CC didn’t have a structural problem in his arm, he just had a ton of miles. Sale did have some inflammation and similarly has a ton of miles on his arm, although nowhere near where CC was when he lost his stuff at 32. The Sox made a calculated risk that Sale would take a below market salary for fewer years in exchange for not knowing his effectiveness
  3. Porcello would be losing velocity if he was short arming the ball. I’m sure he’s mechanically a mess, but I doubt he’s entirely “short arming”. His breaking ball has been non existent and that’s a problem for a guy like him
  4. I get the idea of moving Sale to opening day at Fenway, but why take a fragile guy like Sale and push him back a couple days to throw in Boston where the forecast is rainy/overcast and 40s when you could have allowed him to throw in the heat/climate control of Arizona. I get the marketing part, but throwing a terrible guy out there today seems like a punt and pushing Sale to the bad weather seems like a bad idea. It would make sense to stick with the rotation and see if they can work things out
  5. That suddenly robust rotation is looking pretty awful. Price has actually been good. 13K in 12IP with a 1.25 WHIP. The runs scored is more an anomaly and should correct. Sale soft tossed his way to a great start in Oakland, but I think Cora is bullshitting everyone with his velocity. He hasn’t shown velocity since his injury and I doubt he ever does. That being said, if Sale can pitch well enough with reduced velocity, then you take it, but his margin is so small now that you’re not going to be able to rely on him being an ace Porcello has been getting rocked mostly due to a dearth of location. Stuff is still there. He’s always been a sinker, slider guy and if he elevates the sinker, he’s done. He does throw a 4 seamer above the zone and gets some K’s, but he’s been otherwise a juggs machine through 2 turns and has walked nearly a batter an inning. He’s the most consistent starter you have, but he’s been awful ERod has shown a loss of velocity and command. He’s the one I’d lump in with Sale as potentially not healthy. Eovaldi is what he is. You guys saw the absolute best of him in the postseason. I’ve seen him be absolutely lights out for a month, only to be absolutely terrible for another. It seems he’s not lost any velocity, but his mediocre ways always seem to creep back in. His contract is gonna be an albatross at some point.
  6. Corneal abrasion for Holt. He’ll be on for the minimum as long as it doesn’t get infected. Johnson’s elbow hurts, although it could be his pride after yesterday
  7. Yanks ERA as a team is under 3 currently. How’s yours?
  8. I get that we cannot baby these guys, but Kahnle is a special case. He’s a guy working back from injury with serious control issues. You don’t bring him in early in the year outside of clean innings or mop up duty. Ottavino was available. It worked out, but for April, I only bring Kahnle in for clean innings or blowouts until he proves his injury/control issues are through
  9. Yet everyone seems to consider his contract to be a steal. Hmm..
  10. Clarke Schmidt threw 5 perfect innings with 9 strikeouts in his debut two days ago. Deivi Garcia got touched up a bit in his debut, giving up 4 runs in 3.1IP, although 9 of the 10 outs he recorded were by the K. Sauer allowed 0ER in his 4IP long season debut with 4K Roansy Conteras was dominant in his 5IP 1ER debut with 6K and 0BB
  11. Getting shitstomped by a team projected to finish last by a strong margin in their division is pretty bad
  12. Sanchez’ arm has never been the issue, so I’ll wait a bit on that. Another WP that was blockable yesterday allowing a run to score was a bigger concern for me
  13. They didn’t all of a sudden lose it. The focus and fire isn’t there through 8. Cora’s biggest calling card last year was that you had to beat his team, they didn’t beat themselves. That hasn’t been the case through 8. They very easily could be 0-8, so that has to have some solace
  14. Paxton impressed me in this one. Wild as hell in the first, gives up 3 runs while allowing only one hard hit ball. He then bears down and allows 1 run over the next 4 innings to keep us in it. Gleyber getting hot is good, but Sanchez going deep to CF for his third bomb is even bigger. He’s finally healthy and that’s good news for us.
  15. He’s got a minor injury. We have some detritus on our 40 man. We have moves to make. We also have enough versatility to deal with it with Gleyber being able to play 2B and SS and Lemahieu being able to play all 4 spots. Wade can play all the IF positions too with Estrada being more a SS and 2b kind of guy. Thankfully, Hicks is resuming baseball activities. He will need a rehab stint, but might be an option by the latter part of the month. That’ll push Gardner to LF with Frazier and add some depth to our DH position, which is currently heavily dependent on Bird’s availability (and he’s made of glass).
  16. The O’s are trying to get him to recoup some value to deal his contract, but he keeps getting worse. They’re better off dumping him and giving his spot to a kid with a future there
  17. I said it was a problem in focus, not talent. The Sox team is good enough to win games. But two veteran, GG OFers miscommunicate and let a ball drop in the OF. The reigning MVP get thrown out at 3rd down 4 with no outs in the inning. A good MLB starter in ERod loses the plate and gets lit up after being spotted a 3 run lead. A lineup that’s had some issues scoring throws a just off the IL veteran journeyman in front of JD and watches him K 3 times and leave 5 on base. The start is not due to a lack of talent. They’re good enough to win these games. They just don’t have the fire and focus they did at the start last year. Btw, I know it’s two starts in, but ERod is down about 1.5 mph on his FB but a whopping 5 mph on his slider. Strange for now, will be interesting if it continues when the weather warms
  18. The sox do stink right now. The lack of fundamentals is really intriguing for a squad that should be good. This isn't a lack of talent, it is a lack of focus, and it is pervasive
  19. That it did. This is survival til we get full strength
  20. I hate this manager
  21. Why go to Kahnle with a 1 run lead with a guy on base? What the f***!!!
  22. Sanchez has his power stroke back. We Need Judge to find his
  23. Paxton found it. Now we need the offense to stand up here
