  1. That’s best case there. Let’s hope we can see him second half
  2. I call ******** on Cora saying Sale is “building up”. This is exactly the guy we saw to finish the year. You send him for another MR, maybe throw some contrast into the joint or just look. Listen, if Sevy came back and was throwing this slow, I’d be advocating for the same thing. Just pop a scope in and look. Something is clearly wrong
  3. Exactly. Ottavino gets beaten by an infield single. Sometimes that just happens. But to give up a game tying 2 run double to Robinson Chirinos is really bad when you’re a shutdown reliever like Britton. In the end, it’s just more of the same with us vs the Astros. We struggle to beat them, even when we get runs.
  4. Already discussed
  5. Let’s see what the kids can do. Montgomery may be more needed than initially thought. This sounds like they’re gonna need to go in there. I no longer expect him back this year
  6. The cold weather increases injuries for all players. Pitchers are the most injury prone player on the field, so it does affect them the most
  7. Tauchman was traded for to be our fourth OFer. Cashman has said with Frazier missing so much time that he needed consistent at bats. Once Stanton went down, Frazier was called up and has gotten consistent at bats. With that logic, I don’t have a problem with it. I don’t want Frazier to be the 4th OFer. He’s got the skills to start and in most organizations, he would have been starting for two years now. He seems ready now. I know it’s easy to say that after he goes 6 for his last 8 with 3 bombs, but he’s no longer an auto out with breaking pitches away. With how quick his hands are, all he needed was work on pitch recognition. If he’s there now, he’s gonna be a monster If Frazier continues to show good at bats (he’s clearly not going to hit at this pace) then I agree on the Gardner front. Where I’d agree more to start is getting Stanton back into the DH role and then when Hicks comes back, relegate Gardner to the fourth OFer role and have Frazier start with regularity
  8. Frazier goes 4 for 5 with two more bombs bringing him up to 7 for 17 with 3HR since he came back to the bigs. With Hicks likely out another couple weeks and Bird not hitting, it looks like Frazier will get some run until both Giancarlo and Hicks return. Where is FsB when you need him? He hates Clint Frazier. And thought our trades at the deadline in 2016 were garbage. Well, we got Sheffield who turned into Paxton. We have Torres and got a couple years out of Warren before turning him into INTL slot money to sign the guys we did this past offseason. McKinney with Drury turned into Happ. We still have Crawford, Heller and Feyereisen. Heck, we used a piece from the Nova trade to get Todd Frazier, Kahnle and Robertson and the other piece from the Nova deal is now in our pen in Tarpley. We even got Tate for Beltran which was the headliner for Britton. Seems that the deadline moves from 2016 were sheer brilliance
  9. We are only one game over .500 and go to Houston for 3, so I don’t completely share your optimism. I’d assume we might hover for a bit until we get healthy
  10. Well clearly Cora knew something that all of us didn’t.
  11. I like their manager. He’s got the kids playing hard and today was the first game where they quit. I think they’ll still lose 100, but the guy has the right attitude and the right philosophy for the rebuild. Run a lot, play hard, don’t quit. That being said, we have 4 all star position players, a CY candidate and #5 starter on the shelf, so them taking two from us isn’t all that impressive
  12. German with a no no through 5 innings. He’s been absolutely dominant
  13. Sanchez is really swinging the bat well. Average isn’t there, but 4 bombs in 9 games is a nice thing now. Really hoping German can go 6+ here so we can save the pen for the Astros series
  14. Tuesday is likely going to be rained out. Wednesday is going to cap out at 46 degrees in Boston.
  15. Frazier with another bomb!!
  16. Gleyber with the bomb
  17. Sabathia to return next weekend barring a setback
  18. The Sox took on a lot of risk and Sale left a lot of money on the table. But there were zero indications that his arm was entirely healthy or that his stuff had returned. This was a premature contract, IMO. Also, DD’s history suggests he’s good at building his team, but his extension history is spotty at best
  19. Something to chew on here, having rapport with your catcher as a pitcher is very important. I’d say a bad catcher takes more from a pitcher than a good catcher will add. If Swihart is that bad behind the dish and the pitching doesn’t improve, the psychological effect to thevstaff that a Leon return could bring would be worth it
  20. To be entirely honest, though, these guys don’t live in boston in the offseason and they haven’t been to boston yet, so this is more a continuation of their spring
  21. And a decade ago, we had home games in Japan to start the year. It all balances out
  22. One word of caution to those applauding Billy’s disappearance. Quiet for a board isn’t always a good thing. I don’t decide if someone gets banned or not and I’m not saying he didn’t deserve it, but having a disruptor who isn’t overtly trolling can be a good thing for a board. It can bring people into the conversation who have been lurking, but at some point it can drive away people who are reliable. It’s a balance.
  23. Corneal abrasions hurt, but they don’t last 10 days. I think Cora needed a body and instead of shelving Holt for a couple days, they decided with the off days to just get someone up who could finish the series. Holt will be fine by opening day
  24. Clint Frazier needs to be in the lineup for every game until we get some reinforcements back. He’s shown enough to earn PT over Tauchman and if it wasn’t for him last night, we lose. Clint’s WAR may be 0.0 on the season, but he’s at a 1 in my book
