  1. Right on ORS.
  2. I would take Wily in a heartbeat. Because as a team getting close to selling, Wily has the kind of promise and potential that just needs consistent playing time. But that playing time entails that you endure the growing pains. This half season could be the growing pains and then maybe you can see him live up to the hype a little bit. If I were the sox, I'd deal him for some relief help, maybe a Solomon Torres and do right by the club, but also by the player. Wily needs to be sent to a place where he can start with little pressure and grow. That wont happen in Boston.
  3. Buerhle is at the early end of his prime and is an ace. Buerhle is what you would want Lester to become and is still young enough to be around and dominant for a long period of time. Take off the glasses son. Buerhle was the ace of a world championship team. His resume is much longer and he is likely much better than Lester will become.
  4. To be honest, I think Kontos may be a guy who gets showcased in AA this yr. If he shines, he may be a guy who could headline a deal to a s***** club.
  5. Right, but you have to look at what you have before you can consider the deal. Buerhle is a great pitcher. A great one. The guy was the ace on a world championship team. Has the same amt of wins as Zito had at this juncture and he has another half season to go. Yet Buerhle has a ton better command and a deeper arsenal. Buerhle is a top tier guy. So is DMats. So is Beckett. You put those three in a rotation in their mid to late 20s and have them inked for another 5 yrs or so, and you can put a serious hurting on the rest of the majors. Add Buchholz who looks really solid at this point as your 5 next yr and maybe Bowden down the line and you could have a very young, strong, deep starting 5. That is how you built this huge lead. Your hitting has been off and on. But your pen and your rotation were solid early while ours disintegrated. With Okaji and Paps in the back of the pen, you have a young core out there and if the rotation gets sured up with another young ace, you guys can dominate for at least another half decade. I know the question is, IF he signs. You throw enough cash his way and he will. Yeah, it isnt the cheap way to go, but cmon, this is Boston. They are making money hand over fist. And if they were ready to spend 70 mil on broke down drew or 40 mil on Mendoza Lugo, dont you think it would be wise to spend 15 mil a season on a guy who is as dependable as they come, is left handed and can lead a rotation?
  6. An 88 mph cutter left down the middle of the plate? Sure he might have missed it. Or he might have hit it off the scoreboard.
  7. I agree there. But either way, if he left that pitch over the plate to any major league hitter worth his salt and he'd smack it too.
  8. I think we'll hold you to that.
  9. welcome to the club.
  10. 10 games back in the loss column. At the AS break. Holy suck.
  11. only they dont have the yankees breathing down their necks.
  12. I know you are being sarcastic, but I'll play along. I like the yankees pitching future. The offensive prospects are at least 2 yrs away and the best of the bunch are Tabata and Montero. I think we will be relying on deals or FA's for our offense for quite some time.
  13. if the sox were willing to throw Lester and Ells their way, you better believe the White Sox would allow a 72hour window.
  14. Yeah, but the guys the sox went out and got had some serious questions attached to them. Coco and Edgar were replacing icons. Lugo had an up and down career and was coming off a down stint in LA and Drew came over as damaged goods. Buehrle is a left handed pitcher capable of throwing 220 innings every single yr and giving you a mid 3 era to low 4's ERA. You can bank it every time. There is something to be said for that. And having him behind the two powerful horses in DiceK aned Beckett would make the sox top 3 ridiculous for the next 5 yrs at least.
  15. 6IP 2ER 2H 3BB 4K and another win. Kennedy is showing he belongs.
  16. It all depends on Coco. I think his nice debut and Coco's strong stint of late have turned some heads. And I think those heads are starting to line WMP's head under the chopping block. I really think Wily is going to be suiting up with another club come August.
  17. They still havent hit AAA yet. But with the release of Fat Elvis, I'd assume Horne will get the callup to AAA and either McCutchen or Kontos will get the call to AA.
  18. yeah, wow. Crow sandwich. I saw the end of the game and saw that he had 4 K's in there facing K rod. I aid to myself, damn, please PH for him. PLEASE!!! And alas. Kid didnt have it today.
  19. is he a sinkerballer? Cause if he isnt, a low K rate in the A ball realm makes me think this kid is setting up to be torched.
  20. that has been the knock on him. He has trouble locating the fastball at times. He got away with it in AAA since he'd just chain a few changeups together. Not up here. He'll improve. He at least showed he can get out of his own jams without letting them explode into a huge deal. I'd like to see more.
  21. that 5ER start was on 6 baserunners. Luck of the draw.
  22. I know most people think Melky Cabrera is some sort of 4th OFer type crappy player. And I can see how they can come to that conclusion. But at 22, the switch hitting CFer is finally showing that he truly belongs. After an abysmal start to the season in April, Melky is actually hitting .303 since May 1st with an .820+OPS. He's actually playing very well and could be on his way to having his second consecutive strong season at 22 yrs of age.
