  1. Ross Ohlendorf has finished his rehab assignment in the GCL and will start today for the SWB Yankees. Ohlendorf was one of 3 pitchers in the DBack organization who were to be considered for the 5 spot before the RJ trade. Ross, known more for his power sinker and control than for strikeout potential, came over as a media hyped pitcher who could eat innings. But his first season in the yankee system has been anything but good. In ST, he looked like he'd be a wonderful option as he was sitting mid 90s and looked downright untouchable. But in his first start at AAA, his season took a turn for the worse. In freezing conditions, Ross couldnt locate and also tweaked his back. It took 7 starts and very uncharacteristic wildness for him to pull himself out of the rotation and go on the DL. Rehab took nearly 2 months, but Ross finally returned in GCL action 4 starts ago. And although the numbers werent astounding, the one thing that returned was his control. Going from 19BB in 34IP prior to going on the DL, to walking only 1 in 16 innings in his rehab. If he can continue to show his control, he could be an asset to the yankees at the end of this season or next. Many scouts, mostly those that feed Gammons, think his future is in the bullpen and it very well may be. But his propensity for control and for eating innings should at least grant him a look in the bigs as a starter before making the switch.
  2. they both said they will not consider an extension in season. Posada was already approached.
  3. who's now? Sounds like the vietnamese matron of a brothel.
  4. Rob, I see your point and certainly agree to a certain extent. But does anyone actually think Josh Papelbon has anything going for him? He throws 80mph with a deceptive delivery but nothing off speed to speak of. If you want to take the fight to scaff, use Youk vs Lugo to prove a point. Dont pick a battle over a guy who should never have been drafted to begin with.
  5. According to multiple reports, the yankees have already agreed to contracts with their 2nd round through 10th round picks. This includes Bradley Suttle, the best pure hitter in the draft, and high school standouts, Romine, Weems, Grote, and Angelini. The deals have been forwarded on to Selig who will not approve them until the slot above gets approved so the yankees dont up the spending of other teams on draft picks. The enigma, though is that the yankees dont seem to have a deal in place for Brackman. There is speculation that the yankees are only waiting to see what the kid can do in summer ball, and for the 29th pick's salary figures to be reported. The only top player that the yankees drafted who is still considered unlikely to sign is OSU bound righty, Greg Peavey. The Yankees have taken a wait and see approach with him, and even though they are expected to offer close to 1 mil to sign, there is a strong push for him to go to college for the 2 time defending national champs.
  6. he's a veteran pitcher, he can still get outs. His arm is strong enough for short bursts. What he can no longer tolerate, is being leaned on like a mule. And you can bet that if MDC comes down to earth, that Timlin will be the prime 7th inning guy again, and he wont last long. He needs 2 appearances per week, just enough to keep him sharp, but not enough to overwork him.
  7. Pineiro pitched well about 5mph and an effective curveball ago.
  8. The Yankees will lose 6-5
  9. Mirabelli fan, you may be the only person to have watched that movie.
  10. no it wasnt. He is trying to lose. It builds character.
  11. Drew's out due to an unspecified injury, per rotoworld.
  12. Manny swinging nicely. Shoot.
  13. and he gets the out at the plate. How to help him out. Jeez!
  14. Bonds getting tips from ARod on performing grade A fellatio
  15. he would be very entertaining and would be a younger steinbrenner. Their salaries might exceed 300 mil. He spares no expense, and I kinda like that. Plus, Cuban isnt exactly revered across america. If he buys the cubs, pumps in cash, and wins a WS, he will be a hero. Do it. The cubs winning the WS would be even bigger news than the sox winning it, since the sox had been so close for so many yrs. While the cubbies havent really been close at all (except 03).
  16. Didnt Delcarmen have a string like this last yr, then he imploded?
  17. correction: Bowden has a better fastball. He does not have better "stuff". Kennedy has control of a deeper arsenal.
  18. 6IP 0ER 3H 7K 0BB. He is continuing to dominate.
  19. I find it very hard to take seriously when it has Bowden above Kennedy, and Bard above Horne. Horne has Bard's arsenal with control, poise and results.
