  1. Schilling is interesting today. He looks to be intentionally slowing down the heater. I know he has lost something off his heat, but he can surely get over 87/88 which is where he is at right now.
  2. Papi is a smart hitter though. Wang better not go to the well too often.
  3. that slider was nasty. Papi was made to look like a fool.
  4. Wang better get that sinker down.
  5. but when you put the lineups together and the fact that we can manhandle anyone you throw out there, while lately the sox have struggled against good pitching, it makes a huge difference.
  6. that wont help too much if he reinjures it once he takes the field. Here's the deal. If you think that the sox are a lock to make the playoffs (regardless of where), then why risk rushing manny back and having him get hurt. The key is that he is 100% for the playoffs.
  7. Watson was a high ranking yankee official before he took the job with MLB.
  8. we are sending out best lineup and pitcher at you guys. Should be fun. Damon LF Jeters SS Abreu RF ARod 3B Matsui DH Posada C Giambi 1B Cano 2B Cabrera CF Wang on the hill. Should be fun, unfortunately, I'll catch only the first inning (daggone work!!) On the season, we have CRUSHED schilling to the tune of... 18IP 29H 15R 14ER 2BB 10K 6 homers.
  9. youk protecting Ortiz? He might walk 4 times today.
  10. Wang had a poor August, but he finished on a high note and typically goes through spurts every 2-3 months or so where he flat out sucks for 2-3 starts. He pitched well last time out, we'll see. Today will be a big one. A win today keeps slim hopes alive for the division. A loss ends all speculation.
  11. http://www.boston.com/sports/baseball/redsox/articles/2007/08/30/back_seat_for_ramrez/ Obliques are a bitch to deal with. They could be a one or two week thing, or if they arent rehabbed right, could be a 6 week or longer thing to deal with. Hell, Tim Hudson nearly lost a season to a pulled oblique. I would assume Francona will put Manny on pine duty for the next 2 weeks, most likely missing the next 4 games against NY and may try and move him into the lineup for the last week of September. The last thing he is gonna want to do is rush this when the sox have such a big lead. And this is the kind of injury, that when aggravated, is worse than the initial injury and could really pose a problem.
  12. Should be a good one. Day game after a night game, both catchers may be off. I'd assume Posada will get the day off, Matsui or Damon will DH and Giambi will play 1b.
  13. Crunch, you are right, math is on your side. You figure the yankees need to finish the sweep today, then sweep you guys in Fenway, then pick up 2 more games in the rest of the schedule, when you guys have a slightly easier September than we do. It isnt likely. BUT, this does remind me a bit of 2004, but reversed. Going into the playoffs, you guys were the better team, but we had the huge early season lead. Role reversal, we shall see how it plays out. But I think it goes to show that we can take down your top 2 pretty easily even while wasting lots of opportunities. And having the Joba fit into the 8th inning has been nothing short of awesome.
  14. thin skinned yankee fans are not pink hatters. Thumper and TW101 are your pink hatters.
  15. didnt map it out, sorry ORS.
  16. Devern Hansack would be in the equation also.
  17. they said that he will be making no appearances in games. He will be pitching on the side trying to build up arm strength or regain it from dead arm. It sounds like we'll be going with 24 into battle until sept 1.
  18. Even if the yankees win tomorrow, there shouldnt be much doubt. Aside from the 3 games in Boston, the sox really dont have a tough series. And aside from 3 against Boston and 3 against Seattle, the yankees have a cake schedule too. Both should cruise into the playoffs with the sox winning the east. ALTHOUGH, I think the sox may be better served as the wild card and we'd be better served as the East winners. The sox own the angels and we own the Guardians.
  19. the best part of you ran down the crack of yer momma's ass and ended up as a brown stain on the mattress.
  20. MAY JOE TORRE ROT IN HELL THAT SON OF A BITCH!
