  1. Well, I'm not sure about crawling back, but we do know ARod spends a bunch of time crouched on all fours.
  2. I dont think ARod would be one to use solely because he loves his body a wee bit too much.
  3. I'd hold firm. There is absolutely, positively ZERO way any team offers him 4yr at greater than 15 mil a season. None. 3yrs 45 is the most I'd go.
  4. The Yankees were gonna offer a 5 yr 150 mil extension on top of his 3 yrs 91mil (thats the number that his incentives had him getting, reasonable ones at that) that was coming to him. So that is 8yrs 241mil. That being said, those 41 and 42 yr old seasons are a f***ing BARGAIN!!! LOL. We needed ARod back for his bat. But watching his wrinky ass come to the plate when he is 42 is gonna suck.
  5. I have a feeling that Lowell is a bit jaded after having to earn his contract kinda like how Posada and Mo were. Hence, I dont think a hometown discount is in order. And at the same time, this will, in all likelihood, be his last big contract. So he'll go for the most dollars. Now if Lowell leaves and ARod goes to the yankees, you are in a similar boat that we were in. Do do you deal Coco for Crede? How bout Buchholz and Ellsbury for Cabrera? These are your options. You could go after Rolen, but after all the good vibes of a championship season, do you want a guy that has become public enemy #1 in both stops. And for the StL crowd to be on him, he must really suck. Hell, they put up with anything. And that doesnt even count his horrible injury history AND his loss of power. In a 112 game season, his SLG fell under .400 for the first time in his career (in a season he has appeared in 100 or more games). Put the shoulder injury and the loss of power together and you might get an even more pissed off, more injured version of JD Drew at 3rd. The only option that sounds remotely possible and productive is Tejada. Still young, had his first injury of his career and typically, wrist injuries take a yr to get strong again. He's primed for a big yr and is on the market. The only problem is, the market will become very strong for him once ARod and Lowell sign and most likely would cost the sox at least one of their troicka of talented kids. Then you could go internal. Youkilis played a fine 1b, GG caliber. But as a 3b, he might not be useful over there. Who knows. Then you consider adding to 1b from the FA market? Want Sean Casey? How bout Minky for a return? The 1b market is the worst I have ever seen it. So does that mean you bring up carter? And go from an infield manned by a 3rd and 1st baseman playing GG caliber to a butcher at 1st and a potential butcher at 3rd? Doesnt sound like Theo's MO. As much as you dont like the idea of paying through the nose for Lowell, he is a team leader, and RBI guy, extremely useful in Fenway and endeared to the crowd. Eventually, Theo needs to break and see that with Lowell, the sox will likely be the favorites to win a 3rd championship in 5 yrs. Without him, they fall back to the pack, depending on who they replace him with.
  6. you wont get him for nothing and even when you get him, there is no guarantee he will be effective.
  7. Mike Lowell is far more valuable to the sox than he will be to anyone else. And I dont think anyone would argue that if the he blew out a knee in ST this past yr, you guys wouldnt have won it. And even though he likely wont go bonkers like he did this past yr, his presence solidifies a lineup and a defense. That kind of solidification is nice when you have one player coming back from surgery and another coming back from a multitude of ailments, including some on the field issues. Lowell is a must for you guys IMO next season. Replacing him internally will be a poor option. That being said, 4 yr is too long.
  8. he is about as healthy as Rolen. Nothing like acquiring a player who has a rod going down his femur. Then again, we are about to sign a guy with a rod up his ass, so go figure.
  9. I have a feeling that Rolen isnt the best of options. His shoulder is holding on a by a thread and he isnt exactly a friendly guy.
  10. regardless, this does make us a better team and he is the best overall player in the game. But does he have to be such a f***ing douche? In order to offset the no soul player, can we get Lowell for 1st so we can have a guy with a heart?
  11. I feel the same way. Lowell is a solid presence in the clubhouse and could be a nice addition to the team. That being said, I have no belief that he'll repeat his production from this season in yankee stadium or anywhere else. And if we get him and put him at 1b, we may be looking to replace him halfway through the deal. It would be another short sighted signing.
  12. you know I havent been too fond of ARod over the yrs. He started to win me over last yr, but this s*** he is pulling this offseason has made me despise him beyond repair. The name on the front is always what matters, but this guy just doesnt do anything right. And he stumbles into being the richest player alive. Imagine if he wasnt suck a f***ing prick, he might have made more money and also made a subset of MLB love him. He is gonna retire as one of the best players of all time without any steroid allegations and fans everywhere will hate him.
  13. Let me start by saying...f*** Alex Rodriguez and his faggoty assed agent "I take it in the" Boras. This assmunching dickwad decided to opt out because the richest f***ing team in baseball might not have paid its "core players"? Are ya f***ing serious? Not only did he make that boneheaded decision, but he had the audacity of a gay porn star to do it during the clinching game of the world series. What a punk. Then, he finds out, holy s***, maybe I am not worth 35 mil like my pencil dicked agent is telling me. Damn, I better look at what I had and not really look a gift horse in the f***ing mouth. Maybe, just maybe, Hank Steinbrenner will be stupid enough to believe the ruse that I am breaking away from my agent and forming my own little utopian island where I can negotiate my own contract. Of note, that island is loaded with women with 6 pack abs, ripply muscles, deep voices, adams apples and phallic shaped genitals, just like ARod likes it. So now, he negotiates with the yankees under the guise that he will absorb the 21 mil the yankees would have been owed, when in reality, he wouldnt have even come close to making the 27 mil a yr he is asking for, for 10 f***ING YRS!!!! Then again, we are stuck in an impossible position. Without ARod's lame ass dragging around, who is going to stir up the metrosexual demographic and drag their jizz encrusted asses to the stadium. Jeter? Nah, he is straight (I think). But ARod drags em all in in droves. We cant afford to lose the demographic!!! That being said, we need a righty power bat, and ARod fits that bill. Now if only he could shave his head, get a Mike Tyson tattoo and father some illegitimate children, then maybe, just maybe, he can fit into the wild partying MLB life that most players live, rather than being on this island all alone. 10 yrs 270 mil is way too long. ARod is crawling back, take advantage of it. Oh, and dont turn your back on him, he may stab you with a knife or another fleshy, pointed object.
  14. would it surprise me? Not really. The guy went from being a solid offensive contributor in the early 00s to being a weaker part of the order until last yr when he was arguably our best hitter. At the same time, I wanted a 2 yr deal with 2 vesting option yrs. I knew that wasnt gonna get it done. Either way, I guess the question was that, regardless of the money, who will be the better offensive player over the next 4 yrs, Torrealba or Posada. Too bad they didnt take into account defense and staff handling. Like I said, it is good to have him her to pencil him in the lineup next yr. But we are paying him coming off a yr that was so far off from his career #s that he is rather unlikely to duplicate them.
  15. I like that Posada will be back, I hate the deal. As with all yankee fans, I care less about the money than I do about the yrs. But the external options were abysmal and our best internal options are at least 3 yrs away. So having Posada there will help. But there is a lot of mileage on his tread and hardly any reason to assume that he'll even hit over .280 next season. One thing that must happen now is that we need to resign Molina. Posada is not known for being a good game caller and is considered average to below average in handling the staff. That being said, if we can resign Molina and get him in as someone's personal catcher (I like the Hughes idea) then we can reduce the wear on Jorge some and give Hughes the experience of working with a great defensive catcher who works well with pitchers. Unfortunately, we will have to cross our fingers and hope Jorge can actually catch for 4 yr. I highly doubt that will happen and I have a feeling that, just like the Damon deal, we'll be regretting the last half of it. Oh well.
  16. I find it hard to believe that anyone actually voted for Delmon over him. You could make a case for Bannister if you really, really tried. And you could make a case against DiceK. But Delmons yr over Dustin's? No way.
  17. The Patriots will have home field. They are unstoppable. Last week, they played as bad as they could play, and they still beat the 2nd best team out there. This yr is the yr of the patriot and only a cruel twist of fate (or of Brady's knee) will derail that.
  18. If ARod goes to the Mets, then i expect them to deal for Santana using Reyes as a major chip.
  19. he's a B. You would get one supp pick
  20. how bout them Celts. Nice to see one team I like not s*** the bed this yr.
  21. it was a win win. Boston got a championship and an ace for a long time. The Marlins got probably the most dynamic position player in the game. If both were FAs right now, theyd both command 20 mil a yr salaries.
  22. I dont like the idea of dealing for Peavy. He has a small frame, a herky jerky motion, and has been pitching in the worst league ever created in the NL West. Plus, it will cost one of our young pitchers and another player plus more. Santana should be the only guy we are willing to deal something of substance for.
