  1. he absolutely was not "sitting" 90 mph this yr. That is totally bogus.
  2. are you serious with this post? Santana sat right where he always does. People think he is a 97mph fastball guy who just blows people away. He isnt. He sits 92-94 and tops out around 96 with a devastating change and a plus slider. His fastball velocity is right where it always was.
  3. and you most certainly have rooted for a roided up player as well. It is pervasive throughout.
  4. Personally, I dont care if Santana has a steroid shake for breakfast, a testosterone burger with a side of winstril for lunch and a filet of roid for dinner with a nice cold lager of HGH. If the guy comes in and wins 20 games for the next 6 yrs, I can deal with the cheating.
  5. Crisp held the fort for the entire season this yr and for most of the postseason.
  6. There is a difference here, though. Santana was a late bloomer and Peavy just had one of the best seasons for a pitcher in league history. It isnt comparable if you ask me.
  7. game ovah. LSU falls.
  8. wow
  9. still doesnt beat last yrs Okla-Boise game. But this is still amazing
  10. this might be one of the best games you are gonna find.
  11. can someone change the title so I dont look like such a moron? Cncy? wtf?
  12. I find the commentary of the QB hilarious. I know, maturity is important, but whatever.
  13. Jets wishlist- draft McFadden
  14. this game is f***ing ridiculous
  15. 4 yrs 46 mil per ESPN. Wowza
  16. could be an arrythmia. But man, this is just too sad. RIP.
  17. This is going to be an interesting game of chicken on both sides of the fence with Santana. The thing about the sox is that they have excess parts they could move for Santana, while the guys we'd be dealing would already be in our rotation/lineup. Think about it, who would be hurt more... If Hughes, Joba, Kennedy, Melky, or Cano went down with an injury vs... Buchholz, , Lester, Ellsbury, or Pedroia To the sox, Buchholz may be "the future", but he is a spare part for 08 and not someone who's loss will be felt if Santana comes about. Pedroia has Lowrie in the wings, Ellsbury would still have Coco backing him up (for now). For us, losing Hughes/Joba/Kennedy means Mussina is in the rotation plus another rookie or s***** starter (see DeSalvo, Rasner, Karstens) would need to take the bump every 5th day. In terms of the other two, Betemit could play 2b and Damon can play CF. Not a terrific dropoff, but a big enough one to make their loss hurt. This is why I think the sox, if they really wanted to, could net Santana with a solid package while not hurting their team's chances of a repeat in the process. Whereas, dealing for Santana from our perspective, takes players that are already filling needs and would create holes. In the end, though, Minny doesnt care who they deal him to. They only care who they get in return. So if the sox want to gut the youth movement, while keeping their 08 chances alive, actually enhancing them, then so be it. And if the yankees want to gut their youth movement and fill the holes with putty later on, then so be it. It should be interesting to see.
  18. 1. Ellsbury CF 2. Pedroia 2B 3. Ortiz DH 4. Ramirez LF 5. Lowell 3B 6. Drew RF 7. Youkilis 1B 8. Varitek C 9. Lugo SS kinda lags a bit at the bottom, but the top 7 or so should be pretty formidable.
  19. what I think is totally unlikely but kinda intriguing is... Could you imagine if Henry actually breaks out after getting contacts and becomes one of our top prospects while Abreu is still our starting RFer? How ironic and funny would that be?
  20. http://www.nypost.com/seven/11222007/sports/yankees/oh__henry__yanks_sign_outfielder_336018.htm This is actually kinda funny. Henry was the major prospect dealt over for Bobby Abreu when the Phillies dumped him. The other player, Matt Smith, is recovering from TJ surgery. Henry was our 1st round pick in 2005, who was subsequently moved to the outfield. The 5 tool prospect couldnt f***ing hit. He hit .184 last yr in the minors for Philly and then asked for and was granted his release. Of note, he was fitted for contacts prior to the end of the season, and that is a big reason why he hit over .300 in the final month of the yr. That is most likely a fluke, and he most likely will not see the light of day past the FSL, but it is kinda funny that we got Abreu for absolutely nothing.
  21. Assuming a pitcher develops like Beckett is not a sure thing. Remember this, Beckett was a dominant ace type pitcher in the NL and came over here showing a total regression in stuff. DiceK did not. His stuff was solid, his location and durability was not. I expect him to be more durable as the yrs go on (or his arm to implode from all the strain put on it) but the lack of pinpoint command has made the Japanese market a bit less of a desirable proposition. I think the zones are a little bigger over there. Regardless, DiceK has front line stuff and it remains to be seen if he can continue it for 32 starts or if he will be as inconsistent as he was last yr.
  22. It doesnt really make much sense. Mathews is on of the better defensive OFers in the game and now he moves to DH so Anderson can gimp around LF? Regardless, Hunter is the bat they were looking for and all they had to give up was a 1st rounder.
  23. thank the f***ing lord man. I thought Linebrink was a poor play this offseason and with the yankees being in on the talks, I got worried that we would be the ones to offer such a ridiculous deal.
